Coming from a small market and probably not getting the proper promotion. I remember electric Avenue playing on TV when I was a child. Didn't see this video until I was an adult in my late 30s
I'm a small town, midwestern, white kid in the 80's, and Killer on the Rampage is one of the first cassettes I purchase. In spite of Eddy Grant's advice, I joined the National Guard and got invited to a war party in SW Asia. Now that I'm older, I realize how timeless Eddy's music and messages are. War, what is it good for? Edwin Starr was right. Absolutely nothing. I'm going to buy a Killer on the Rampage cd to take the place of the cassette that's gone missing and start taking Eddy Grant's advice from now on.
Kudos to you for sharing your love and respect for Eddy Grant. I'm a 71 year old Black woman who has followed Eddy Grant since he came on the scene. His lyrics are timeless!!
Killer on the rampage was such a groundbreaking album Eddy Grant gave us politically charged Reggae combined with irresistible groovy hooks and in the same year as thriller and 1999 Eddy totally hold his own
That's your opinion. I believe they both bring much insight to world issues etc and his beats are to die for. Bob Marley brings his ( all of the above) in his way, different form.
Eddy Grant, great musican, very respect great singer, great man, legendman. Great respect for very artist, messagem positive and thrut. ❤💛💚Onelove Rastaman
@@patmoffit4346 I often played this cassette all the way through, both sides, thanks to autoreverse. There was no need to use music search looking for the next good song since they all were.
This song plays in my head when we have company meetings and the upper management comes up with projects that I have to make happen. They disappear and I have to put out their fires. 20 years of Bullshit.
@@namuki2001 Thank you for the comment. I guess I am not alone. Yet here I sit everyone has gone home. I am playing a game with the rules constantly changing, like playing soccer with a bowling ball.
@@buddyninn1051 at times I suspect that the senior /upper management think that their juniors are descentants of Merlin or are blood relatives of The Charmed Ones'.... Magic in the workplace is therefore very important
@@namuki2001 I agree, but I reply "I am just a mechanic not a magician". I deal in realities not imaginations. My ability to read minds and know what you are thinking has been diminished as your involvement in the day to day operations have been reduced to the point of no contact, yet the expectations persist.
My friends and I went to see as many live performances of Reggae as we could in the 80's, but was never in a situation to see Eddy Grant. I played the hell out of this cassette, though.
its hypocritical to not allow the use of your music at a political rally, unless u dont allow it at any political rallies. singling someone out not kewl.
An artist has every right not to have their songs played at a Trump rally. Do you know what Electric Avenue is about? It's about a race riot in London. Eddy has every right to prevent Trump from playing that song.
