I just want to say I love the Big Cores for offering such a change in how the wing diver plays. You can even use a low damage plasma weapon with them to gain some height with the rag doll recovery move, which remains magically unaffected by your core's restricted flight.
Well sure wing divers got flying and awesome weaponry but also tinnitus from the constant charging and overheat alert noises. Ranger ralph should be thankful for his pleasantly quiet equipment >:V
YES I'm so glad you did this! Interesting math you did for the Mag Blasters because I never know when exactly to reload before the significant damage fall off.

My list of weapons in terms of usefulness (in no particular order): Plasma Great Cannon Rapier Super Nova Phalanx ZAT (Primers' worst nightmare) Monster Lance Mirage 15WR Raijin Limit Gleipnir a Thunder Crossbow RZAM (really in love with this one lately) Those are all my go-to weapons for the Wing Diver. I STILL haven't been able to star out the Big Bang Core and Mighty Core!!
I couldn't think of somewhere else to put this to bring to your attention, but I fired up the game for the first time in a while and randomly discovered that the Thunder Crossbow RZAM is kinda crazy in that it can actually pierce through shield bearer shields. I see this as a pretty big game change since the whole shield bearers being present force you closer mechanic is more or less negated by this. A bit more testing of this revealed an interesting quirk to it. You can shoot pretty much anything through a shield bearer shield with it except for the shield bearer itself (though you can still kill it, albeit very slowly, with the ricocheting lightning). This piercing also applies to aranea webs, allowing you to shoot things that may be behind webs such as pylons, and even the aranea themselves if they're hiding on the back side of the web. Very useful.
I was wondering why I kept taking the Dragoon lances and stardust cannon so much on my wing diver. They just seemed to be the best overall combo for how I usually play, which is to get close to stuff and spear them to death, especially cosmonauts and colonists. Plus a lot of her other weapons just seem subpar by comparison, largely because they require too much energy, or the damage just isn't that great.
Did you calculate wepaons like the 10way pulse as stated like 1kx10? Or just the dmg from a single shot? Considering that a 10way pulse can hit probably 40+enemies considering shots and blast radius its dps is probably more so in the 70k range Just not single target.
I'm confused, why do the weapon models matter? I see that lv69 Dragoon lance and other weapons pale in comparison to earlier weapons in your calcs. Is it how they scale through weapons levels, or other?
An additional value I found useful is to take damage*shotcount*capacity/energy cost. This gives you the damage per energy value of a weapon which is helpful for actively gauging a weapons effective damage as you progress from the start of the game and on. Phalanx ZAT is not broken because of the DPS. It is broken because of its damage to energy ratio. These are the values for my guns which are close but not capped. Still paints a picture for usable guns if below 20 there is almost always a better gun. plasma cannons are an exception as you take this value and multiply by the number of targets you hit with it. If you hit 50 ants you can safely say the level 15 Plasma heavy cannon was better than the Phalanx ZAT for a brief moment. Quick list These work but you will be shooting forever. 4 star damage 3 star cost Fenrir 3-way = 5.1 Psiblade alpha = 11.2 require careful aim to not waste energy Plasma heavy cannon = 37.6 closed laser MX = 43.7 Raijin limit = 47.4 excellent 1 star cost Lightning bow ZA = 112.8 god tier Dragoon lance ZM = 361.7 Phalanx ZT = 502.8 genocide gun tier without suicide weakness Phanlanx ZAT = 1673.2
Yo Kevin love your work. Your Math here is solid except for one major point. Damage dropoff with distance. All these DPS numbers for lances, phalanx etc assume you are literally point blank, which is extremely misleading. You should really show DPS for point blank as well as DPS at max range. It would make the info much much more useful for any damage dropoff weapon. I doubt Wingdiver will look nearly as broken if you factor this in.
Yes, that is true, I forgot to mention this in this DPS video like I did in the ranger video. This is just the raw numbers if everything is ideal that is why I give them a practical rating. I made a few other videos about the best weapons meta for each class and also my favorite weapons for each class but in this video I just wanted to capture what weapon has the highest potential DPS . Also since she can dash, most the time the wing diver dashes in and does damage up close. You make a good point though and I should have mentioned this at the beginning

True enough tho, but still the lowest dmg for dragon spear is enough to kill most creature in the game, I dont like phalanx tho too close for my taste.... the random lightshow also not really realistic like holding fireworks.....
Oh Kevin I’ve been meaning to ask, are the Pure Decoy Launchers only for the deluxe version of 5 cause I have the standard version but they don’t appear in the dlc?
I would argue that the Stardust Cannon is a sniper rifle. I mean I seem to hit things from across the map with it. If you use building to block some bullets it can be focused.
I think the lv 55 plasma great canon is a pretty powerful plasma launcher i don't really know how much damage it does at maxed. But the lowest damage does i think 16000 for a lv 55 plasma launcher.
I suddenly feel dirty for being the designated Wing Diver of my group, and that was after I wanted to be Ranger because my friend didn't like Wing Diver. He then switched to Air Raider and we mostly play in a group of two and the two classes complement each other well so it works out. We're still early so it's mostly I play defense for him while he brings the real pain.
Liam Montgomery he should be the one playing defense, bring a barga or a red nix or even better yet, the fraking apc with auto guns, and he would be in everyones eyes, you just sneak up on them, give them the love kiss, dash away, rinse repeat.
Can you do a video on things you would like to see added in EDF 6? New classes, new vehicles, new types of maps, new weapon categories, new modes, new difficulties? Personally, I'm hoping for a higher difficulty setting than inferno if inferno is going to be this easy. Either that or just make normal the current hard difficulty. Nobody plays normal or easy anyway. They could even add a joke difficulty mode like "everyone must die" which is like inferno+++ where every ant is a queent ant etc :D For class reworks, I want the fencer reworked so they don't dash around the entre map, it just doesn't fit the image of a heavy armoured class at all. For new classes, a mage class doesn't fit at all but sounds like it could be fun. :D For new enemies, maybe a lizard instead of red ants just to spice things up? A map placed on a huge container ship could be interesting. EDIT: Also I want an airstrike that shoots a giant blue whale that hits the ground and slides across the field hitting enemies and buildings just because firing a whale would be awesome. :D
That is a very good idea for a video, I'll have to work on that, you really got me on that whale airstrike, the funny thing is I can see that fitting fine in Earth Defense Force game LOL
Yea, there are some broken weapons for sure, but comparing lances (short-mid range) to weapons with much longer range and saying lances severely outclass them just because of the damage difference is a bit strange to me. Also, a lot of this crap doesn't show up until the end of the game (or close to), at least in regards to the truly busted stuff. While I get it isn't the point of this video (or the other DPS guides), you tend to make a lot of comments in regards to how practical/good the weapons are in general. But you look at it from a hard/hardest and early inferno perspective, and there isn't a huge amount of disparity in the usefulness of a lot of weapons.
I think part of the reason that the mid range Lance's can outclass the long range is because of her ability to fly and close distance so fast. There are just a handful of needs of a sniper for her. You make a good point about hard hardest inferno. I have the most time in these difficulties but I figure if people are looking for weapon guides they are typically replaying the game into the higher difficulties, not sure
