I’d go so far as to say that the Fencer is my all time favorite video game character

Favorite class. Speedy king remains all the other are jelly when i zoom past at the speed of really fast

@@KevinEDF used to play fencer with my speedy King Air diver friend. No matter how fast he was, my high altitude impact missiles were faster. Had to ban them from use in co-op, cause his only two choices were to fight long range, or be blown up along with the swarm.

I'm just glad that they didn't nerf the force blades. not having to worry about shield bearers is great! (if your unaware, force blades/ dynamo/ axes can damage enemies through the shield bearer but cannot injure the shield bearer its self.)

Yeah the blades are nice and have a huge range, I really like the dlc blade

@@KevinEDFNot quite there yet as im still clearing hard and hardest (offline non dlc)but from the sound it, ive got something to look forward to. (especially if this blade got a faster highvoltage - max output charge time.)

I played a lot of edf 4, and only started edf 5 this week... and I agree... his ability to handle the queen ants is insane. They used to a real challenge for me, regardless of class (I'm not a great player :D ) this time, no issues. Flashing spear, a shotgun mixed with disperal and regular mortar... it was so easy...

If there’s gonna be an EDF 6 they should give Fencer brand new weapons. And add a special weapons column cause he deserves new weapons. I actually have some custom weapons for my LEGO Fencer that I think would be great in a game

I don't know if I would want all new weapons but at least a decent number, I would miss some of the old ones 😁

Or, you know, just make his super missiles work in single-player. So stupid that all of his real powerhouse weapons are useless without a second player to target them. Dumb design. It was before and still is.

What about giving fencer a Target beacon? So if he wants to use them by himself he would have to trade 1 weapon out for a beacon but could still use them

@@KevinEDF Yeah that's all I'm saying. Because as-is if you play solo 3 of his most powerful weapons don't function lol. Or like give him an equipment that just puts a laser guidance on the guidable weapons. There are many options.

Interesting, As I'm currently playing on hard mode, I find the CC Strikers extremely weak compared to the other classes. I might be doing something wrong, but they might get stronger on highter levels

Fencer makes me feel like im using the Prototype suit from Halo Legends. Or the armor from the All You Need is Kill manga.

An idea to balance Fencers dash hopping mechanic would be weapon type association. For example if he has CC Piercers equipped, dash mobility would be priority over hopping, so in this instance with a CC piercer he would have X number of dashes but his hops would be significantly less than his dashes. Long range cannons and weaponry would prioritize hopping over dashing as having a good vantage point is key for those kinds of weapons. Of course the problem would what happen if he takes both types? No idea........

I thought about the option of giving him just 1 item or at least the ability to equip only one mobility item, that way he could only focus on either increasing g dashes or boosts. His other item could be utility such as recoil or shields etc

@@AshikSorel1 to be fair... one armed asian still be faster on inputs then most of us. idea was to be long range turret or get in close and hunker down with shield to avoid damage/grabs yet it came to this... i still prefer ranger over wing or fencer though and favorite is raider cuz i can just go on sight seeing trips while still being "helpful". salty about epsilon and ugly barga...

I'm not sure how to feel about the 'Jumping Naegling' Set up for fencer. Despite my disagreements regarding your nerf proposition. This is one, I honestly felt was too op.

My favorite class. So versatil. Only thing i hate is hitting faster flying enemies. Looking at you red drones. And i cry cause the reflect shields make me cry

The reflect shields seem to have been outclassed by the other shields now as you can block damage and reflect relatively well

You get used to aiming. A lot of people complained about dual cannon accuracy when rapid firing in 4, but I never had that issue. You just have to feel out the rhythm of the shots.

Yeah, I feel using 2 feels better than 1 as well. The 2 kinda counter the recoil if you time it right

I'm surprised you don't bring up the Blast Twin Spears, they may be wonky to get used to, but they basically amplify everything Fencer wants. - Higher mobility during dash jumps and good movement when your jumps are on cool-down or without dash jump items. - High single target damage (The DLC ones can kill an offline queen ant in like 6 - 9 shots depending on how deep you are in the campaign.) - Penetrating, so potential for crowd clearing. Aside from that, I think Fencer has been severely over tuned for this game. This is coming from a self-proclaimed Ranger main, but compared to Ranger, Fencer is borderline broken. - Ranger lost Fusion Blasters, his biggest source of damage and a good reason why several people picked him for inferno (Though he did get the Blazer as DLC). Fencer kept Disruptors, but you'll never see anyone use them because his kit already has so much damage. - Ranger's snipers were nerfed so hard (not counting the DLC) that his most powerful sniper, the MR100 Fang, does less damage per shot than Fencer's 35mm battle cannon, and Fencer can dual wield them. - Fencer gains health faster, has better mobility, deals more damage, and has absurd survival options (trading in your mobility for an 100k health shield that prevents rag-dolling / getting pinned). That's not to say Ranger doesn't have upsides compared to Fencer (like moving while sniping and having a self-heal), but they seem negligible compared to the titan that is Fencer.

Yes, it's too bad about rangers snipers but the shotguns and c70s make it not hurt as much. However I think ranger should be the best sniper in the game imo

His sniping isn't that bad in the Brute Helicopter. Two guns with 100 penetrating shots each at 5760 damage per shot and a fast rate of fire. Just feels weird that a helicopter is somehow a better sniper than the rail-gun.

it's not too bad while it goes this way. as a person who used to main a ranger in 2025, I never thought he was too far outclassed. As the game implies, the ranger is the "beginner" class and fencer is the "advanced" class. Now that is indeed the case, but the Rangers feel was meant foothold to other shooter games while you got used to the other classes. he is the kind of character that you can pick up and play this game just as if its any other 3rd person shooter and get the person a sense of the fun you can have as you play EDF. Now I'm not saying that you should drop your Ranger main, I'm saying that because of his title of "beginner", there is a good number of people that first got their hands on the game and played the first mission for the first time as a ranger. took me 900+ hours with 90% total completion both offline and online mission; to get the hint that my ranger was giving me the tap on the shoulder for the go-ahead to touch the other characters as well. (A warm feeling that sticks with me every second that I'm playing 4.1 or 5.) anyone that main a Ranger is not a scrub that hasn't learned the ropes, they are gamers that don't connect with the other classes as they are unique to the EDF Franchise. That is the true power of the EDF ranger!

If anything, ranger required a lot of skill, as it is quite an accomplishment to complete certain missions with him 😁

Spinedriver over blastholespear why? Because of the range and no delay when firing. Also the high altitude missle launcher might be good but overall its really annoying i die a lot because of it. When im playing a ranger or a wing diver with rapier and a fencer that has these missles equipped will get you killed. They are good but they are also good at team killing xD The barricade system is good but you can better use the deflect cell because it reduces also knockback 90% it has lower damage reduction 40% but it doesn’t replace the damage reduction of the shield itself because (great shield has 80% damage reduction wich is a higher number then 40%) And the consumption goes down to what 20/30% (thats 300/500% ammo increase) that way you don’t need the 800% ammo increase although you will miss out on the +60 degrees defence angle

HTT TTT i use the spinedriver mostly for air targets if i want to take out a croud effectively ill use my other weapon wich is a dispersal mortar. Otherwise i would switch to my second set of weapons wich or most of the time dual shotguns. Im completely with you that if you look at raw dpm and croud control its way better to use the blasthole spear. You may think HAMS doesn’t do much damage but take in account that its most of the time 2 rockets that hit 1 target and what if you have multiple around you then damage stacks pretty high

HTT TTT i personally don’t use shields that often only in missions like 111 and 86 from what i can remember i mainly use it to not get nocked over by species omega and to soak up damage for the team in the boss battle, or other battles that are pretty intense like the last cannon wave in 110 ^^

I think the spine driver could use a faster reload or a bigger magazine. I do find it tough to pick except for drones

I think that if they added the effect that the flavor text says for the spine driver, it would start getting used more. the idea that the spikes on the blunt spear would explode as an AOE outwards would make it great for when you get swarmed.

I love the fencer, but I think he's completely broken if I'm being honest. I say, keep the distance and number of dashes, but make the movement physically slower (the flight movement I mean, not on legs). That way he can still get shot or grabbed midair. Seems if he's that heavy, he should be a slower.. projectile? Ooo! What if dashing into enemies damaged them? And different boost items lowered or raised the damage?

I am so glad you are not a game designer. Your opinions from a game design perspective are trash with so many unintended consequences. Coming from the perspective lets base the game design around [Hardest Mode] for some abstract concept of "challenge" for "the feels" is not going to ever give good results.
