Director Edgar Wright visits the BFI Southbank to present his new documentary, The Sparks Brothers, about the five decade musical odyssey of brothers Ron and Russell Mael AKA Sparks.
With The Sparks Brothers Wright refrains from the usual tropes of the biopic and instead takes us through a fascinating journey chronicling the irreverent world of Ron and Russell. Sparks’ music has consistently changed direction to electrifying effect. With producers such as Tony Visconti and Giorgio Moroder behind some of their biggest successes (‘The Number One Song in Heaven’, ‘Get in the Swing’) the duo’s influence has been felt across several generations of artists.
Edgar was talking to journalist and broadcaster Edith Bowman.

I really enjoyed listening to this Q&A - it gives insight to what makes it into the documentary and further insights into the Sparks Brothers themselves. I have not yet seen it as I’m stuck in Locked down Sydney and really want to see it in a cinema, but I have listened to the official film playlist - the vocals are amazing. Looking forward to it
