One of this film's greatest assets is Tom Cruise's performance. It was absolutely perfect. From a slightly oily PR creep through to terrified rookie through to driven soldier through to love-struck dude and finally to complete hero. I honestly think no other actor could have pulled it off. And Emily Blunt is another of those assets, she matches him turn for turn. "Who said you could talk to me?" "Something on my face?" "My name... is Rose." Cruise should have got the 2015 Oscar for this - but of course it's science-fiction and not taken seriously by the SAG.
Just few words, how I feel. Thank you, I understand your words, your meanings. I love true feelings, I love true people. You touched me so many times, so many ways. It is like having an experience together. I love your love too, it gives hope for the lonely ones. Together. All the best for you. I will follow your reacts. Please, continue. You are so smart, so clever. You give more added value to the movies, I understand more through you. And mr boss, your wife; beauty is an added value.
Aw, thank you so much for your kind words, Petri. This made my day. I never knew our reactions could mean so much to other people. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings. Greetings to you from Mike & Jessica! ((:
You should react to Happy Death Day next. It's like Edge of Tomorrow but a campy horror version. Also, since I started watching your reactions, I've been so curious about your accent. When I realized you can read and understand German from the writing in the movie, I automatically assumed, but I wanted to get confirmation from the husband first. So, are you German?
Hi there, thanks for watching, and thanks for your suggestion. I put "Happy Death Day" on our list. Thanks! Btw, I'm originally from Switzerland (from the Swiss-German part), so you were very close with your assumption. Have a great day!! (:
Just came from your reaction to The Devil's Advocate (actually I'm in the middle of it), but I wanted to recommend some more courtroom drama movies if you haven't seen them: A Time to Kill (1996) with Matthew McConaughey The Firm (1993) with Tom Cruise A Few Good Men (1992) again with Tom Cruise, and Jack Nicholson (!) In fact all three movies have a pretty stacked cast. :)
Edge of Tomorrow surprised me with how good it was when I saw it a few years back. I really like how Tom Cruise starts off a deplorable coward but in the end becomes the hero. I also enjoyed how they ended it with his smile, it tells us how much he loves her. Funnier than I thought it would be, as well as tragic.
One of the coolest performances in here is Bill Paxton as the sergeant major. . .in very little screen time he perfectly encapsulates the military lifer from the South!
Saw this movie when it first came out. I forgot how good it is. Now I’m gonna have to watch it again. I know a lot of people are critical of Tom Cruises due to his personal life, but I think he’s a damn good actor and I’m here for it. Ty Mike and Jessica. You really are the #1 reactors on Yt. Take care. 💙🩵
I like "Edge of Tomorrow" a lot and have watched it many times. I think it did okay at the box office and not long afterwards Tom Cruise presented an idea for a sequel to Doug Liman but it never was greenlit. My favorite Tom Cruise film is Spielberg's "Minority Report" (2002), adapted from a story by science fiction writer Philip K. Dick. It is a crime procedural that takes place in the near future and presents the audience with a legal and moral dilemma.
Loved this movie, loved your reaction, thank you guys! One cool thing I haven’t seen in anyone else’s reaction, and that I LOVE because it’s a cool layer of foreshadowing? I never thought to translate the German words in Cage’s vision of the Omega’s location. “Danger, Careful” - actually a REALLY cool foreshadow from the filmmakers, and I never would have seen it without you guys’ reaction. ❤❤!
I liked that you have no English accent in "Vorsicht Gefahr!" whatsoever! How come you speak German like a German being a, what I as a German think, you are a Scot?
Haha, thanks for your feedback. I'm originally from Switzerland, so I speak German, but usually with an embarrassing Swiss accent. I guess I got lucky on "Vorsicht Gefahr." Thanks for watching! (:
Theres a massive plothole in the beginning of this film. Cage is literally over all the recruiting films and TV and would be recognised by people on the base and they will know hes an officer.
Listen guys. You’re a great pairing. I’ve noticed from Edge & X that you guys really shine with movies where there’s an enigma. If you haven’t seen The Watchmen or Exorcist. Otherwise let me know & i’ll line up a couple more. My name is Lucas Keck; i know you two each have the light.
Great action flick but the plot convenience is slightly annoying. Puts Colonel in infantry position who has no combat experience. Even less unlikely that his command would even allow that. Even under the naive assumption of an easy victory its completely nonsensical. The only accurate part is the stubbornness and brutality of military bureaucracy. "Dissection by your own government" - Scary how plausible that actually is.
You may have heard this but this story is based on a Japanese manga and anime. That’s why the suit’s language is Japanese. The Japanese title is “All You Need Is Kill” which I think is the coolest name ever. 😂. Too bad they didn’t use it. They play it safe…
Great reaction again, I am a big fan of time travel/Time dilation films, I think " Interstellar" is the best sci fi time dilation flick ever but as of my era " Time After Time" and " Somewhere In Time" from around 1980 are just magic time travel flicks
I really like you two, your reactions are pretty awesome. You two seem like real people. Glad I found you. If you want something else like this movie, the layers of repetition, I would suggest a Spanish movie called "Time Crimes". It's a dumb title, but a really good movie with time travel in it. I think at some point in the movie, it kind of turns into another genre of movie, as the main character is trying to piece together everything and figuring things out, and all the weird pieces fall into place. And I don't want to spoil anything, so I won't say anything else.
as someone who spends an embarassingly big amount of time watching reactions to stuff, there's something about these 2 reactors which puts them miles above the usual reaction channels and i dont know what it is (edit: this is the 4th reaction in a row ive binged from them, only found them today from their American History X reaction)
Thanks for that. I did some research the other day to see "how fast" a RU-vid channel should grow. They said it takes the average channel about 22 months for the first 1,000 subscribers. Well, we started 4 months ago, so I guess we're doing pretty well. (:
The drill instructor was actor Bill Paxton. Watch him in the film ALIENS. First though, check out ALIEN, the first film in the series. ALIEN is more Si-Fi horror while ALIENS is more action. Both are two of the greatest Si-Fi films ever! Finally, there are two main reasons I like watching reactors like yourselves. First, even though I've seen these films many times, I still get vicarious enjoyment watching others like you enjoy them. Hence I can see them over and over again. Secondly, I appreciate that you don't hog the screen as most other reactors do. 🥰
Thanks so much for that, Jeri, we appreciate it. ALIEN is on our list, thanks! Yes, we try to "hog" the screen as little as possible, but it's an extremely difficult process getting passed the copyright bots. One second too much footage and you can't upload the video. As an example, I had to create 23 different versions of "Tommy Boy" until I was finally allowed to upload the video. I could tell you much more about it, but all I wanted to say is that we appreciate your comments. Thanks! (:
Tom Cruise is a great actor and this escapist sci-fi adventure is fabulous. Love his movies. I like how you mix up your reactions so there is variety of mood. (Hope you'll do the under-the-radar 'French Kiss' some time for some escapist wit and humour. Kevin Kline steals the show, like Tom Cruise in everything he does.) Looking forward to watching your reaction to this one now. :)
On the same theme as this movie but on higher level is a movie whose name suggests it should be right up your alley, BOSS LEVEL starring Frank Grillo, Naomi Watts and Mel Gibson. Or if you prefer a time loop movie that is a little more laid back, the Romcom, PALM SPRINGS looks at it from the perspective of two jaded young adults accidentally thrown together and forced to relive the same day over and over. With GROUNDHOG'S DAY and EDGE OF TOMORROW, BOSS LEVEL and PALM SPRINGS are I think the best this genre has to offer.
Hello Mike!😊 Jessica always looks lovely.😉 I'm a little late starting reactions today, had Saturday errands. They were actually marketing this one with "Live, Die, Repeat". So much so, that it caught on as being the films title.😉 That might sound more familiar to you guys. I knew there were some laughs in this one for Jessica. Emily Blunt is a chameleon. She can look and act so different in so many films. There is another set of films that follow this formula. They are "Happy Death Day" (2017) and the sequel "Happy Death Day to 2U" (2019). I think you guys would enjoy these sci-fi/comedy/slashers from Blumhouse.😉 Fans are pushing for a third film. Great reactions to this fun action film, Boss Couple!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏
Hello Mike, good to see you here in the comment section. Yes, I read about the "marketing" dilemma regarding the title. Never heard of "Happy Death Day", so I put it on our list. Thx! The Boss Couple sends you love! ((:
Hey, I'm not 100% sure, but I think if you watch our reaction on RUMBLE you might not have any ads. Let me know, here's the link: rumble.com/v4uijur-edge-of-tomorrow-2014-boss-movie-reactions.html
@@BossMovieReactions, I know it isn't you guys. I was venting with you, lol. I still watched it all through, I just hate that they put so many ads in, and it isn't fair to the us, the viewers, or you. I'm not going anywhere.
@@profanepersonality Haha, thanks, yeah, we can vent together. Lol. Thanks for not being mad at us. I assume you saw my other response regarding Rumble, I think they might not have any ads playing. I always upload the same video. So, whenever you get annoyed too much, try out our videos on Rumble and let me know. --> rumble.com/c/BossMovieReactions
Fascinatiing! You noticed the lighting being unusually even. I had not noticed until you mentioned it, and suddenly you answered a question that hadn't even occurred to me yet: How did they film the same scene so many times with only subtle variation? Strict environmental control.
Yeah, controlling the environment is a big deal. That's why Studios prefer to shoot inside a soundstage rather than on location (even if they have to build a million-dollar set). Also, even lighting = very time-consuming = high budget movie. (:
As usual, awesome reaction!!! I actually just watched this movie for the first time about a month ago. I’m not too into si-fi but I did enjoy this movie. Also I watched your live video from awhile back. I didn’t get a chance to watch it when you did it live but I finally got around to it and you guys read one of my comments!!! That made my day more than you know. I had a huge smile on my face for about 2 hours so thank you so much. I love the channel and you guys are the best!!!! Peace and happiness to you two!!! Nate from Plymouth Mass
Getting ready to get on my exercise bike shortly and your reaction video will be a perfect way to enjoy it. I really like your reaction videos. I think it's uncommon to find experts like yourself who can comment / react to examples from their field without it coming off as only dry and analytical. From you we get insights from your knowledge, AND you get invested in the movie and the characters, so we get to enjoy our favorite movies with you. Really good channel!
That's awesome! Thanks for your kind words. And have a great exercise session... and if you run long, check out the "Afterthoughts" video as well! Have a great weekend!! (:
That's exactly what I do every day, exercising on my bike for 1 hour and watching these reaction videos. I'm curious how many others do the same, you're definitely the first to tell me about it. 😄
...yes - Groundhog Day as action movie... there's quite some re-incarnational philosophy in it... just instead 'day-after-day' its 'life-after-life' ...the Edge of next Life...
Bleed for This. is a movie based on an inspiring true story, Miles Teller plays in it. from Whiplash. Or check out The devil's own, by harrison ford and brad pitt.
