This reminds me of back in my home village, I once went to the top of the tallest building in town! Man, the view from the 4th floor there was amaaaazing!
Yeah my anxiety riddled brain would not process all this visual information well. I always hated 3d movies. I envy people who can do all these activities without anxiety.
@@anthonyboarman3833 I am the same, and I hate it! I tried hypnosis and it seemed to work for a minute, but my stubborn brain kept telling me irrational things like your going to fall and die, even though I am sitting at my freiken desk. I'm a wreck!
Thank you Jon for doing these videos! I actually created a Here Be Barr RU-vid folder so I can refer back when I'm ready to hop a bus with my little electric wheelchair and see all the neighborhoods you've highlighted. ❤️😊
The sky deck reminds me of the CN Tower in Toronto. It has a glass observation deck and my aunt and I went there in 2003 and she was a little nervous about how high up it was and you could just see sidewalk below under the glass. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! The view from the top of the skyview deck looks incredible! I've never seen a cooler elevator in my life! I have to see that place someday!
8:23 That elevator ride with that flying simulation, is epic, and like a icing on the cake after those views from up there and all the attractions inside!! With no doubt, that's a new must see tourist spot for New York City!!
@connextro yes? But it doesn't seems to be. Maybe the city should make a new law that prevent to build skyscrapers who would higher than the empire state building, like in Munich in Germany. So it would safe the typical cityscape.
@connextro yeah it is massive and giant, but the new build buildings next to it are high or they are higher than the empire state building. And i dont know how the cityscape will be look like, when they build more new buildings in this area.
We went there yesterday at sunset. It is awesome. Unfortunately, they’ve closed for now due to the Corona virus, so they’ve only opened for 2 days for now.
As a Long Islander, every time a new attraction opens up in the city, I always get so happy and excited, since I don’t go into the city very often. I think the only “attractions” that I’ve ever seen from the outside are Times Square, and the Empire State Building. As for the inside, I’ve been in Radio City Music Hall but only for Christmas. So the Edge and also One World Observatory are definitely some attractions that I need to see.
Those benches disguised as stairs are amazing. Look like solid stone. Must really be breathtaking to know so much weight is safely put up like that . . . for your feet. Amazing construction and the awe of viewing so much more amazing construction. Time out of mind.
I worked on some of the interior spaces and got up to the observation deck on it was in the early phases... Little known fact, the glass failed the stress tests and cracked
I think this might be my favourite new view spot beating top of the rock and one world observatory..... The high line inside the lift is epic..... Nyc really does have spectacular views 😍😍😍👍 great video
Hey I’m from the UK and we did TOTR today! Don’t think me or husband could have coped with the Edge but it was awesome to see it on the skyline today! Thanks so much for your videos - helped us massively plan our trip! You’re awesome!
Hi,im from the UK but currently In NYC untill Sunday and I gotta say your channel has been a blessing! Pizza pizza and yes a bit more pizza has been the way to go so far haha!
@@SJF15 I made it back on the very last flight back to the UK otherwise we would of been there for 30days minimum. Only just made the flight in time as well because we got off the bus at the wrong stop in the middle of nowhere, luckily we managed to flag down a taxi that suddenly appeared! NYC is a must see
I haven't been to NYC in 10 yrs so I can't believe how much the skyline has changed and how small the Empire State building looks like from that observation deck. mind-blowing!
once this lockdown lifts i'm going everywhere in the city i have been putting off, edge , broadway guggenheim, sail around the city, u name it cost is no object lol
Great vlog as always John. Big thumbs up on getting an invite to this. Well deserved as you were my go to when I visited NYC last year. I was there when The Vessel opened and could see the edge from the ground being built. Still enjoy your vlogs as NYC is my favourite world city. ❤️ from the UK buddy.
I visited this back in January before it was even open. On the other side of the skyscrapers is the vessel it’s a very unique nine story architectural honeycomb. I’ve never been to New York City but I had an amazing trip and I plan on going back.
I work at the Space Needle in Seattle, and definitely one of the things I enjoy doing when I travel is seeing different observation decks and seeing how they operate compared to what we do. I was in NYC in Feb 2019, and did 1 world trade, Empire, and Top of the Rock. Loved them all for different reasons, but I heard about this place opening "next year", so when I return this will be one of the first things I do! Great Video!
A few weeks ago when I went to the hudson yard , the edge wasn't yet open to visitors. It looks AMAZING, I will definitely check it out. I can't imagine the amount of people who will be there during summer , when it's warm😊
I feel like hudson yards is one of those things that makes it harder for people who grew up there to afford to live there anymore so it pushes them out
I go to NYC annually. This was the week I was supposed to be there. I couldn’t travel due to the virus. But this will be in my list next year... John your videos make me want to move to NYC- I’ve seen them all and enjoy each one.
I once stood on the glass floor of the Cabo Girao Skywalk in Madeira, 580 meters above the Atlantic. So I can understand the people who are afraid here. The Edge is sheer madness. I wish I was there. It's great how the NYC skyline has changed in recent years. A city that doesn't change and evolve dies. Jon, good video, and everyone knows Central Park, you didn't have to show it.
