on behalf of all swiss people I'm accepting the apology (lots of countries in europe starting with the letter s that have mountains.. confusion is inevitable) l has similar thoughts with edgedancer. Not my favourite sanderson book but lift is awesome and I really enjoyed the ending!
Oh I really gotta read Frankenstein!! It's been one of the books I've been meaning to read some Halloween and keep putting it off. No more though! Edgedancer was fine for me, but I definitely don't enjoy Lift much hahaha. I think her actual role in Stormlight is decent. I also concede this could be a Malta type situation where in 4 books I eat my words 😂
Lol i can definitely see Lift being a little too grating for some people. Frankenstein is so good, I think you’ll really dig it whenever you end up reading it hehe
Glad to see some more reviews from one of my favorite booktubers. Never read Edgedancer, but I do agree that Lift is awesome and Sanderson can be a little uneven. I just finished Oathbringer, and I was surprised at how difficult it was for me to get through. I liked the Way of Kings, and devoured Words of Radiance. Oathbringer though? I think I took two long breaks from it, and it probably took me a month to finish altogether. It wasn't bad, but it took forever to get going. I actually skipped some of the interludes (and I'm not a skipper). Probably wasn't until the last 25% of the book that I really got into it. Global Stormlight criticism? They should all be about 20% shorter.
I think you’re absolutely right that Edgedancer was just another way for Brandon to explain some things that he wanted to get in before Oathbringer (worldbuilding, sure, but especially Lift and Nale’s characters and where they are at the start of OB) without adding more to Words of Radiance. I do like it though as a big Cosmere nerd because 1) More Stormlight and 2) It’s the first time we see a certain type of creature which is going to play a huge part in later Cosmere books! Also the Knights Radiant quiz told me I’m an Edgedancer so I’m absolutely biased.
I had issues with edgedancer as well. It added some good context to some of the happenings in the next book however. I liked the ending a lot and lift was a super fun character. some of the jokes fell flat for me in the book as well. Still worth the read for cosmere fans
