"I don't build infinite combos in my edh decks", Thank you kind sir, thank you. I much prefer synergy than going infinite. I feel it's super anti-climatic to end an epic game of edh with infinites. "ooook, guess you won".
LaMereACaniche Synergy is the way to go. I have just stopped playing with anyone who uses infinite combos, heavy land destruction and infect. It just takes the fun out of the game.
Hey Alex, nIce deck tech! It's interesting to see Derevi played this way - one of my friends plays a very strong Derevi Stax deck with a ton of mana dorks and lockdown pieces while yours seems more value/goodstuff-oriented. It looks like a deck that'd be fun to play both with and against.
Thanks! There is another derevi deck at my lgs that plays a lot more like a combo deck, but I just love dropping some of those big ole value creatures and spells!
Nice, loving these edh videos! I also play a Derevi deck, it's somewhat different than this one... i don't play concecrated sphinx because i think it's a bit unfair, but i do run deadeye navigator (with a couple of 4/5 card infinite combos - which i didn't even realize were in the deck until i played them), so what do i know about fair :D This gives me some good ideas to try out - worldspine wurm, blade of selves and stuff like that seem pretty cool :) also, love the expeditions you're playing, i'm running a couple of those myself, planning to foil out my entire deck - 71 cards so far (including the cards not available in foil - 6 or 7 of those)
Looks like a super fun deck to play! I love seeing these deck techs!! Also, I know some people have already mentioned it, but the Skype noises were pretty annoying. Other than that, great job and I hope to see more really soon!
Ok so you said that when you put Jace out you usually have Ghostly Prison so they cant really attack you. But since Ghostly prison says creatures cant attack YOU unless they pay 2 for each attacking creature. SO since their really attacking jace do they still have to pay?
Technically yes, neither propaganda or ghostly prison stop them from attacking Jace. I like being left alone for a little while so I can build up a board state and block anything they have coming towards him. Obviously not a water-tight plan, but it works out in a lot of situations
+Alex Black Alright thats what i thought. Was just wondering because you said that they cant really attack jace when you have Ghostly prison on the field.
Propaganda and Ghostly Prison do NOT tax creatures that are attacking your planeswalkers. From the gatherer - "Unless some effect explicitly says otherwise, a creature that can’t attack you can still attack a planeswalker you control."
not seeing this in the comments yet, but Sun Titan doesn't work that way w/ Blade of Selves - the tokens miss the 'when ... attacks' trigger because they come in to play tapped and attacking.
Thanks! Legendary rule is when you have a legendary permanent, you can only have one on your field at a time. That way you can't abuse crazy powerful cards by having more than one out at a time.
+Alex Black Oh I understand now :D I am new to magic and to EDH so you've helped me a lot ;) keep doing this great videos of EDH i like it and it is heavily played in my local game store
Was looking at the wording of Propaganda and Ghostly Prison.. if a player is attacking one of your Plainswalkers, are they in effect "not" attacking you and therefore don't have to pay the extra mana?
Grasp of fate is definitely a powerful card, but at my lgs we have a lot of token deck players. It's nice to throw a d-sphere on 1 token and exile 100!
So ghostly prison and propaganda don't stop people from attacking your planeswalkers. If you read sphere of safety, it specifies that they can't attack planeswalkers, but walkers didn't exist when the other two were printed, so it doesn't specify. Even the updated versions don't specify walkers
there called tango, when explaining edh lands to people, esp in budget, i like to break it up into either "full cycle", "allie cycle", "enemy cycle" "gold" and "utility" cause khan fetchs are fairly cheap and should kept away when speaking on the topic of generl-fetchs to the zendikar fetchs. Another example enemy pain lands are like 1.50$ but allie pain lands are like 7.50$ cause of the times when they were printed
I feel most of the EDH decks featured are too much "good stuff". I'm never surprised by the includes and I feel like its generally just showing off an expensive deck rather then being a "Deck Tech"- explaining how it works, why its fun, why its competitive, etc.
man i love the content guys, but the video length is just too much. maybe i'm complaining about something that isnt a big deal, but 35 minutes? that is a long time to spend watching one video.
