Although this video is clearly from a time when the Class 334 was already in service, the traction motor sounds are not those of a modern AC-motor set. They sound very much like a PEP-family set, most likely the Class 314, which was also in service with Scotrail at the time.

Fantastic video! I can't believe some people are moaning about the resolution. It's clear from the stock, liveries and the banter between the drivers about X-Factor 2009, that it's not a recent video. But there was so much to like; great conversation between the drivers. I'm guessing one was in late training, as the other gent was advising him on AWS magnet distances, speeds, etc. Fascinating and thorough look at the Suburban Glasgow North Clyde Line in particular (I'm not as familiar with the Edinburgh end). Cheers!

Must have been filmed not long after the line opened. Another clue is the B &M store at Airdrie retail park. That used to be a Curry's store.

It is too low in quality to watch - to y standards. I do not want to insult anyone but out there are other videos that are filmed on a higher quality standard. So - it is up to me to choose. Go fully 4k: with camera (GoPro is affordable and it works well - beside that you should not overheat it), memory card that will follow the data flow from camera and - always clean the window from inside and outside, however silly this might sound. Film on sunny days only and when driving away from the sun. This is what it takes to film a quality video. Than it is up to you: either you do each step - or you do not. I wish you all the best. PS: I am fully aware that you are a train driver at first place. Stay well, drive safe.

I thought when I first saw this 'new' video that it was made with a rather old camera, but heigh-ho! Then I noticed that several units on the line still had the old 'partnership' livery (or even a mix), and when we were approaching Bellgrove Station, there on the left was the infamous 51 Whitevale Street - 30 stories of des-res-NOT! It came down in 2015. So, when was the video made, please? Mid-2015 is my guess, because some units have the refurb interiors and current Saltire livery - which I thought the 334s began to get early that year.

If my eyes aren’t deceiving me, I’d say that this was before 2014: the tram line (see e.g. 8:25) doesn’t look completed with some overhead supports and track (appearing to be) not finished.

I mistakenly did this route, got to Edinburgh and needed to get a train to Glasgow Queen street (45 mins on express) and then change to a train to Dumbarton, instead got this thinking "ha no need to change!" Yeah only took 1:45:00, so much of my life I'll never get back 🤦‍♂️

But does a 15 min difference really matter?
@mragrayson
@mragrayson 3 года назад
@@andrewmcilwraith1997 It’s not the time that’s the issue, when you can do the trip on quiet, fast and reasonably comfy new trains, doing it on these feels like a step back in time. They’re not all that comfy, fairly loud, pretty jolty, usually freezing inside. It just isn’t worth an hour and twenty minutes of your life, not when the express takes 45. Those trains aren’t designed for you to do the full leg, more a local service for the stops not services by the express services. So normally no I wouldn't care about 15 minutes, but here that 15-30 mins makes one hell of a difference!

I've been on class 334 before between Glasgow Central and Ayr. Based on this video where you can travel beyond Queen Street to Helensburgh, it's a pity that you still can't get a through aervice beyond Waverley to North Berwick or Dunbar on the Dunblane line. How old is that video as another 334 passing still has the old SPT livery from the time I travelled to Ayr a long time ago now?

One could be route learning, looking through a route map , the driver is probably filling out a simplifier with a delay.

Familiar with this drive from about 1:12 onwards. Springburn to Helensburgh Upper, including the Marfyhill Line, is literally the first route I'm releasing content for on my Train Simulator play. Beautifully done route in the game. Really hoping the path the rest of the way to Edinburgh eventually gets added so I can drive this entire journey.
