The massed pipes and drums play Highland Cathedral on the esplanade in front of Edinburgh Castle, during the 2006 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. #edinburghvideos
I am 53 years old and an englishman who had the great pleasure to serve alongside the Royal Scots in the first Gulf War A Sqdn to be precise and this moving melody takes me back to the desert as if it was yesterday, Always brings a tear.
So schön, diszipliniert und herrlich anzuschauen mit einmaligen Instrumenten, die es nur dort gibt und mich in ihrer vollen Schönheit immer wieder begeistern !!
It makes no difference who has written this wonderful piece of music. The words can only inspire and help bind a nation, it looks forward and not backwards !!! a national anthem that anyone would be proud to stand up for and the sooner it becomes Scotlands national anthem the better.
And billie connolys banana song..lol…no it’s a great tune, but yea cannae beat oh flower of Scotland, just go to Murrayfield and see the song played when we face England, now that’s a passion for you.
@@josephlambe2796Englishman here but with a lot of family from Scotland you can’t fault the atmosphere of flower of Scotland every single time👌🏻also had highland cathedral at my grandads funeral down here last year
Was played at My Dear Mum's Funeral too......She was born bred Brisbane Queensland Australia.....but her Mum & ancestory born/bred Aberdeen & Mum was a Champion Highland Dancer here in Oz........brings lump to my throat always
We are having this as we enter the crematorium for my dad’s funeral I. February. As a true Scotsman he would love it and The Flower of Scotland at the end. 💔💔💔
This is the most magnificent piece of music I have ever heard. In the first occasion I burst into tears, something I'd never experienced before. I play it at least once a day as apart from the music, the sight of my beloved pipes, drms, uniforms and Edinburgh Castle is breath taking, but I am reduced to tears every time, tears of sheer joy. Thank you.
This song was composed in 1982 by the German composers Ulrich Roever and Michael Korb as an anthem for the Scottish Highlands Games in Cologne Germany. Read more on Wikipedia.
Was there at this Tattoo, i think at the time it was the most sets of pipes there, was great, still gives me goose bumbs, played at my mums funeral by a lone piper ,(
Schottland ist mein Land. Ich träume schon schon mindestens 30 Jahre davon dort zu Leben.Übrigens….Highland Cathdedral ist von 2 Deutschen komponiert worden aber mein Lieblingslied ist Flower of the Forrest.Greetings from Burscheid (Germany)😊
These images relax me and make me happy in this sometimes mad world. Thank you for being on You Tube. I know exactly where to go when I feeling sad or angry. X💗💗💗💗💗
@@lebeninnorwegen6951 Thank you so much! I will make a note of it. Some years ago, I hunted online for the composer(s) and nothing came up. I imagine a lot of people think Highland Cathedral is public domain, and now we know for sure that it is not. Good to know.
We play this for the entrance procession every year at our Episcopal church in Texas when we Kirk the tartan for the celebration of the first American bishop, Samuel Seabury who was consecrated bishop in Aberdeen. Of course we can only have a single Piper.
