@@johntindillier15 Absolutely not! her parents were from Normandy, Her Grand-Mother was of Algerian descent. That did not make Edith Piaf an Algerian Berber. She was born in France, but her early life was never completely known as her mother abandoned her at birth. She then allegedly lived with her grandmother, and then later in a brothel in Normandy, where the prostitutes took care of her. But nothing was ever confirmed, not even by Edith Piaf herself.
@@TheiJat88 Yes. She is a classic. I was in my late 40's when I heard this particular song ..her comeback song from a very rough time in her life. RIP Little Sparrow.
No, nothing at all No, I do not regret anything Nor the good, that was done to me Neither evil, I don't care at all No, nothing at all No, I do not regret anything It is paid, swept away, forgotten I do not care about the past With my memories I started the fire my sorrows, my pleasures I do not need them anymore Sweep the loves With their tremolos sweep forever I go back to zero No, nothing at all No, I do not regret anything Nor the good, that was done to me Neither evil, I don't care at all No, nothing at all No, I do not regret anything Because my life, because my joys Today, it begins with you

My father died three years ago on 19th December, watching and listening to Edith singing this brings so many happy memories. He used to call her "The wee Sparra [Scots]" The little Sparrow, when she was on the radio, which was a lot more frequently when I was young in the 60's. He told me about her and how she was such a heroine to the French people. Right now, I miss him so very much. This song makes me think of him and remember the great and happy times. Such a lovely voice and a brave and wonderful woman. This song will be forever with me.
What a unique beauty. Her voice is soft and supple. Her vibrato is perfection. The way she plays around and dances with the piano. Her phrasing and determination shows the conviction she had for her words and voice. She’s sharing her story. It’s fantastic!
Piaf was the main attraction at a gala in Monte Carlo in 1955. I was 13 and attended with my parents. This tiny woman dressed all in black walked onto the stage and without a second’s pause started to sing this song plus several more. I shall never forget the total silence of the audience which was surprising because we were all having dinner. Quite a special memory for a young girl.
Edith Piaf was a magical performer. She sang of love and life with such feeling. She was an artiste in the highest class. For my choice she is one of the greatest singers of all time. What an amazing woman she was.
This is one of the most moving and touching songs of all time. What a great singer and such a person! I don't understand French but hell it sounds beautiful on her. Love Edith! Love the old sounds, love the great music!
Maybe it's just me, but I think most songs just sound better in French and she was so fabulous and she had such a sad life and we lost her way too soon.....
michele piteo well i got it from the movie, which one is worse? It doesn't matter how she found out about her life story. She cared. That's all that matters.
I just played this to my 13 year old daughter telling her that it was more French than the Eiffel Tower holding a baguette while it wore a stripy jumper and beret eating snails with garlic butter. This is the most French thing ever.
Found her album in a junk shop last year. Finally got around to finding out about her...now love the record..and this song will be sung at my funeral......
Her voice has something extraordinary from rest of the singers.. I don’t understand French but her voice is depicting sadness and difficulties she faced.
Marene, my best American Friend, and I LOVE THIS SONG. I am French and must tell you that Edith Piaf, was one of the best singer. Did you know she was Charles Aznavour's friend as well, and that he kissed me on both cheeks after a concert in Montreal, many years ago.
after burning all our bridges and moving to France some years ago ,we were having the usual frustrating paperwork problems and we wondered what we had let ourselves in for. Then suddenly we heard Edith Piaf singing this ,immediately our problems floated away....
Non! Rien de rien... Non! Je ne regrette rien Ni le bien qu'on m'a fait Ni le mal tout ça m'est bien égal! Non! Rien de rien... Non!
I am 43 years old and discovered Edith Piaf in the movie saving private ryan. I was hooked as soon as I heard her. This beautiful lady put all her soul into all her songs. Thank you, lord, and thank you Edith Piaf!
