There's nothing wrong with another interpretation of a song. Piaf was a legend, and she sang the song brilliantly and unforgettably. But because someone sings the song in a different way it doesn't make them an infidel. Grow up, people.
yeah... but don't expect to compare this interpretation... with a such historic master piece as "Non, je ne regrette rien" by Edith Piaf. For me it was such a bad choice to interpret it
The problem is not the "different interpretation", it's just that the guy misses the message. His interpretation is bland and mannered and goes against the text.
Waaaaaouw !!!
Why are people so critical about how he's singing the song. It's his interpretation of the song. You can promise to yourself when you are singing after leaving someone even though tear's running down your face. Come on. Give him a break.
Check the lyrics. The song isn't about leaving someone. It's about making a new start with someone, about building a pyre out of everything that was before, burning down your previous life for the sake of a new start. That fire needs to show. It's all good and fine having your own version, but it needs to fit the song.
I think it's good. I know it's a different interpretation of the song and while I don't particularly like the interpretation, I still think he's a pretty good singer
gotta say i dont like this version. that's an iconic song if you gonna do Edith you have to DO IT. those amaaazing R's she used and the strong vocal control she expressed have completely disappeared in this dudes version. désolé mec, mais t'aurais du choisir une chanson différente.
This song was written specifically for Piaf based on her actual life experiences and her unique voice. Not saying no one else can ever do it, but tread carefully.
I agree. It can be sung soft in certain parts, but the "falsetto" parts do NOT work for me. It becomes too androgynous when it is a strong statement of pushing all the bad past behind you, and moving forward! This is a diluted version. I would love to hear Piero Barone (also, w/ the glasses, of IL VOLO) sing this!!
I like this version better...because it is different and unique. I think that this singer Olympe?, is able to transmit the specific time when after having suffered a bad experience in life and you are still hurt and sad, and emotionally destroyed, you finally decide to start all over again; but it is very hard for you to do so, because you are still in pain???. Could I say that Edith Piaf's version is very strong and positive because it's filling is about when someone is already recovered from the pain, and doesn't care about the past any more?... Now, that is the difference between both versions, but both of them are great. Thanks...
Sorry to contradict all those that think he does not sing well, NEGATIVE , he has a beautiful voice, he is still learning and I am sure he can be a GREAT SINGER 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🍷👏🍷🍷👏👏🍷👏🍷👏🍷👏🍷👏🍷👏🍷👏🍷👏🍷👏🍷
A passionate and moving rendition of this classic...he takes the song to different space and level...love it...maybe not the penultimate note...But the rest did it for me.
If Edith see him singing her song with no passion, weak and making everyone fall asleep 😴 she’ll slap the shit out of him ,I have to listen to her after this ,oh godddddd.
Many of you make your own comments, and that is fine. Now, is this the best version, maybe no, but he does have a beautiful voice and it is his version not anyone else, if he would try to sound like Edith Piaf then he would loose his own character , his own essence. Hear him, do not hear Edith Piaf she has not other like her. Love his version and yes it needs to have some little arrangement , ok, but he did it WONDERFUL. DO NOT FORGET HE IS NOT A PROFESSIONAL HE IS A CONTESTANT . BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL
It's always fascinating to hear other interpretations of a classic - my only complaint is the what I feel was unneeded falsetto - but that's just a personal quirk - I did mark it with a Like as I did find it pleasant
