Met my wife there while working a seasonal gig in the Pool Restaurant. Asked her to marry me in the rose garden. 27 years later we still have fond memories of our time in and around the Estate.
Ford Fairlane from what I understand has been owned and used by the University of Michigan in Dearborn for many years . I was in the home many years ago .
My hubs knows some of the history as he is from Grosse Point. The Fords DO NOT own Fair Lane and haven’t for many yrs. Some of the great grand kids of Henry Sr., as Henry here in this video, sit on the board of a trust, but do not own the house. They appeal to the public for $ for renovations because the trust, as most, are non profit. After Clara died it was sold/given to University of Michigan (perr Clara’s wishes apparently) but by 2012 they told the trustees of Edsels estate they could no longer and didn’t want to continue to oversee it; it was falling in disrepair badly. So Henry’s trust estate teamed up with Edsels (so to speak) all under ‘one umbrella’ of trust, yet still separate from each other. I guess Clara hâd a few reasons why she did not want to keep it in the family. And she did want the public to enjoy the estate.
I don't get it. Ford revenue in 2017 was $157 Billion. The Ford Foundation has assets of $12.4 billion dollars. The company is world corporation and is spending $13 billion on new headquarters. I wasn't aware things were that tough there. Asking your dealerships for money to fix the Ford family home is a little weird.
Hatchet Jack - For all you and I know Ferran Cameranesi could be of Spain’s royal family while I am sure, by your wretched abuse of English and the ignorance it’s misuse reveals, simply one more American [are you American?] of whom we should all be ashamed.
Hopefully they kept the cold frames to show that they believed in growing their own food, kept the root cellar, and kept the battery house to show they were into self sufficiency and sustainability even back then. Those weren't all flower gardens. They were vegetable gardens. That's an important thing to educate people in.
We broke in here in the 90s, a man who was floating, no legs, with a bolar hat chased us out, as he got closer we noticed we could see thru him, we talk about it all the time...well last year I seen a pic of an old car on the property with a ghost in the seat... We all said that's the dude that chased us 20 years ago! After some digging we found out it was Henry's personal butler
How much is Edsel Ford II Worth? Edsel Ford II net worth: Edsel Ford II is an American heir and businessman who has a net worth of $500 million dollars.
Katherine McChesney - Yep, are correct. So was Charles Lindbergh and his wife. They traveled to Germany in the late 1930s - where Hitler and Goering schmoozed them into thing that Germany was so powerful that the thought of opposing the Master Race was unrealistic. Upon their return to the U.S. the idiots talked up the Nazis, until 1942. Just like Mike Flynn, on behalf of Turkey, the Lindbergh’s were acting as unregistered agents for Hitler. And like Lindbergh’s, Ford was stridently racists.
Money Money Money... And you know the admission price will be about $22. Ford Co. Has been very fortunate. They're worth billions. Admission to Henry Ford Museum, & Greenfield Village in Dearborn MI should be FREE. (or at least affordable to the average family) nevertheless... I want to take my family there. It'll no doubt be a expensive weekend. N
I was at HFM and GV in 2019 with my son and his friend. We had an excellent time and there and thought it was very reasonably priced for all that was there to see and do.
Brenda Buiskool I stopped in last year to see the place and it was closed on weekends. I thought that was odd, it should be open weekends and closed Monday and Tuesday.
Wait a minute the old boy was he broke when he died I'm mean Edsel 2 said with your support, as in give me money please to fix up the house. Somebody needs to tell Ed to read James 5.
Seems like people that have a lot of money always want more money I think the Ford family could afford to restore the estate without bumming money from others
From what I understand Edsel Ford the second was a real hot head he would get into fights at the board meetings. So they thought they would removed him from the real workings of the company and put him in charge of the charities. Each of Ford's kids and grandkids inherited 500 million each. I think they can afford to take care of those Estates themselves. Without begging for money.
old henry didn't mind dumping cars on his dealers who had to pay up on receipt in the old days. probably still do the same bs now to their dealer's.no wonder car dealers post screaming tv ads to sell cars and trucks at fire sale prices to reduce their inventory on hand.
Welcome to the real world, Fords. I love Henry Ford, etc. but must say they enjoyed a lot of money for over 100 years. We didn’t get to live in those homes in G.P. We didn’t live the life of luxury thanks to their inventive and creative entrepreneur grandfather. This is your home. Henry Ford will live on, Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. I cannot believe they are even asking for donations. Unless they are poor and living in modest homes, etc.
Desde Brasil um grande abraço Think this IDEA
I lost ALL respect for this company when Bill Ford Jr. handed Alan Mulally $30 million just for agreeing to take the CEO job, after laying off 13,000 workers--ya know, people who did real, actual work. If my kids' lives depended on it, I wouldn't buy a Ford. Alan Mulally came from Boeing, where his pension was $850,000 a year. The rich get richer.
frank fuoco - The property no longer owns the property. Public appeals for [tax deductible] gifts all the time. Ford found its own way through the recession. Ford built Ford Field and is presently renovating the Michigan Central Building for its autonomous vehicle development. Don’t like the Fair Lane renovation - don’t send any $$. And then hush up😊!
I wish Ford was Adorable again for the middle class but again car insurance is sales tax and of course having to take your car to a certified mechanic dealer ship
I am not familiar with this mansion, it is beautiful and would love to see it open to the public......but it seems extremely odd to me to make a video asking for money to renovate a home belonging to one of the wealthiest families in America? 🙄🙄🙄
