Complete build video for the Weekend Edition Eduard MiG-21bis in 1/48. I had some problems with this build especially in the cockpit, but I was able to overcome most of the issues. Took about 2 1/2 months to complete with some side projects being worked on as well.
I scratch built the side panels of the cockpit which ended up needed a lot of work to fit properly. Because I had no raised details for the side panels I decided to use the smooth instrument panel normally used for PE to match. If I could build it again I would definitely just get the PE parts.
I used Tamiya and Mr. Color paints throughout with this entire model except for detail work being airbrushed, which is an accomplishment for me. Could’ve been better, but pleased with the final result.
Aircraft flew out of Bagram, Afghanistan in 1980 during the Soviet occupation.
