I am so surprised to find out that, all those years of thinking that when I become a teacher one day, I will be teaching students awareness of one self's meaning and purpose, and that everything we learn is something that we can do for others and become a great contributor of the society. I have never thought that it falls under constructivism. After watching this video, I feel that I have gained more knowledge and has ignited my passion even more to continue working on my goal, which is to become a teacher. I believe, with this approach of constructivism, I can also integrate this with other pedagogies that would help me design my lessons in visual arts. Thank you.
I'm learning about constructivism presently and I can see the limitations of the approach for the teacher who is feeling overworked and overwhelmed but that can't be a reason not to adopt this approach wholeheartedly everyday - more teachers, more teaching staff please!
I too am learning about Constructivism from my Masters program. I was surprised to learn that the Constructivist theory is what I have been using for many years as I teach financial literacy and entrepreneurship and have activities (and have special guest instructors) dealing with various aspects of The Arts.
