EDW | Ep. 16 | (Cervino) Matterhorn East Face | A mountaineering icon. An historical wall for extreme skiing. A great team. Some trouble. A lifetime experience in high mountain! Luca Zattoni Luca Zanette Roberto Rossi
Hello Luca and Roberto I congratulate to the great descent on the Matterhorn. Thank you for the beautiful movie. I wish you nice tours. With alpine greetings Raphael Wellig
To be honest, I'd rather be nestled in lambswool down at Chez Vrony in Findeln, foaming flute of Billecart-Salmon Brut Rosé in hand, stogie stuffed in mouth, peering through field glasses at the boys over on the hill making a mighty good fist of it! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3Yfp4riH3S4.html
To me the snow there looked pretty decent for safe climbing. With crampons and ice axes you'll be relatively safe. Climbing with a rope would mean you have to use special snow anchors, which are not that great, and it would mean you would be much slower. Being slower means you're in exposed zones longer, which can be an issue if there is rockfall, for example. On proper water ice or blue ice it's sth different, there you usually use ice screws and ropes.
