The first time I saw Elvis in concert he had Lisa Marie & his father, Vernon, with him on tour. This was 1973 & Lisa was 5 years old. Elvis introduced them, to thunderous applause, & had them stand up on the right side of the stage. I remember how Elvis beamed with pride as Lisa waved at everyone. She was so cute & sweet. It would be nice if you reacted to one of her duets with her dad..."Where No One Stands Alone"..."Don't Cry, Daddy".."In The Ghetto". All three are poignant & beautiful. 💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙

Elvis managed to control his weight pretty well until the last 2 years of his life. Then it went up & down. But it wasn't just his weight. He was taking massive doses of corticosteroids which cause extreme bloating, especially in the face & upper body. He was being treated for several health issues, from colon problems to glaucoma. And of course that, along with his addiction to prescription meds, was hurting him more than helping him. I wish he'd had better health & more time. At least to see Lisa Marie grow up & then his grandchildren. But maybe they're together now, along with Lisa's son & Elvis's parents. I hope they're all happy & whole on the other side. 💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙

Sally Hoedels book is called Destined To Die Young. I read it & as a Nurse throught it made a lot of sense. The genes are what make us and a deficiency in one can cause all kinds of problems. He also had many health problems including a twisted intestines which caused him trouble even as a child with constipation, pain and other problems. This is what his friends said started his journey with prescription meds. That I’m sure with the amounts he took according to his autopsy. He once told his backup singer he dated for a short time, then remained good friends that he was going to die at age 42. She told him he’d outlive everyone and he said no, I really am going to die by age 42. It’s in her own words in a book she wrote. I wouldn’t be surprised because he had a very sensitive nature and would do and feel things that wasn’t known by others. I guess we’ll never know. 😢😢❤❤

You are right Elvis was bloated mainly. His mother was to. He once told his co-star Barbara Eden, that his mother had not only weight issues but a heart condition and liver problwms, and that he was very much like her. His mother had 2 brothers that also died in their mid 40's. The book "Elvis Presley, Destined to Die Young". Is really a good read, it's mostly from a medical observation. I know he took prescription drugs from a doctor I still think his heredity was the problrm, as was Lisa's.

When Glady's became pregnant with Elvis and his twin she became so bloated in her face that she was unrecognizable. Maybe the strain of the pregnancy combined with the genetic disorder was causing it. It may have also resulted in Elvis' twin being stillborn.

Elvis had 9 out of 11 bodily systems he also had a twisted colon, alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency, insemination glucoma, auto immune disease ,heart problems all this was from his genetic dns his grandmother was married to her 1 st cousin and alot of his health issues steamed from his genes...and im sure lisa marie may have also had some issues ...he took prescription medication to ease the pain he was constantly in he never let others really know how sick he really was yes he abused the prescription drugs sometimes he'd take more than what was prescribed thinking it would make him feel even better..in his mind since they were prescribed by a dr he thought it be safe to take them and wouldn't harm him. In those days they weren't as advanced in medication as they are now and didn't know much about side effects and how it can harm your body...

You're right, Elvis wasn't even fat by todays standards. He had gained some weight, but I think most of it was bloat and water retention. Probably from a combination of his unstoppable failing health and the prescription medications. Think about it like this, they were trying to treat the symptoms of his genetic disorders without even having the medical science to identify and give them a name. It was a total guessing game.

Let me just put this out here for anyone who may come upon this video. Saying that their deaths were the consequence of his grandparents being 1st cousins is total nonsense. I know a bit about genetic genealogy and this would be described as minor pedigree collapse. It happens in everyone's ancestry at some point in your family. For Pete sakes you have certain communities like the Ashkenazi Jewish community who have what is called endogamy which is a nightmare for them to sort through their ancestors because of it. It means that there are close relationships all up their family tree and outwards to Aunts, Uncles, cousins, etc..People will say anything to make a dollar.

Your comment re: Elvis being fat by today's standards is interesting - no, probably not by today's standards since 3/4 of the world is now fat or obese; don't know if you saw Lisa Marie @ Golden Globes but she looked terrible -- white like a sheet, gaunt, looking much older, & a couple of people reported that she wasn't acting right, almost too sedate & like she wanted to leave. i have to refute Priscilla's comment that Lisa Marie was a strong woman just for the fact that she was in rehab multiple times for opioid use &, it is said, included cocaine & alcohol which began long before the suicide of her son; strong people don't go into rehab multiple times for these types of problems. Elvis' genetic condition A-1 antitrypsin causes COPD/emphysema & can also include liver problems, & at some point in his life he began using an inhaler to help him breath; he had a problem during one of his songs on his '68 Comeback special, at his 1970 Houston press conference, & at his outdoor interview in Hawaii. Is it possible that Lisa Marie too inherited this genetic condition & w-the use of drugs, like her father, her heart just couldn't handle any more. Thanks for this bit.

Lisa had a very hard life. She lost her father at 9, her mother's boyfriend was inappropriate with her at a young age, she was troubled and did drugs so her mother dropped her off with a cult while she took care of her career. Lisa spent years under the influence of the cult and only managed to extricate herself from them in later years, but they still had their hooks in her. Her son said growing up in the cult really messed with your mind, and he took his own life at 27. She endured much. So give her a break. As Alannis said, "Let this woman rest, let her lie down."
