Thank u so much. Going in September and literally telling myself I need to pack less dressy stuff and more casual basics but I do intend to hit up some nice restaurants so maybe 2-3 cuter pieces.

Thanks for all the helpful info! I’m confused about what bag to bring, are you saying you can’t bring rolling luggage to Cusco? Or do you just mean you didn’t bring it with you to Machu Picchu? Thx!

So happy it was helpful! You can bring rolling luggage, but you can only bring one bag to Machu Picchu. So that was a backpack for most people and then they opted to keep their larger rolling suitcase back in Cusco- that’s what we did! The train to Machu Picchu has very limited space so a rolling suitcase isn’t the best option in my opinion 🤗

My concern is going inside and discovering that I need to use the restroom an hour later

That happened to my husband! But it was because he ate a burger that wasn’t cooked enough. They have bathrooms right at the entrance of Machu Picchu. I would suggest bringing Imodium to help with any issues that may arise and go right before you enter. Both times, we were in MP for about 3 hours

Were there lots of places to refill your water bottle with safe drinking water?

So everyone in our group paid $15 USD to our tour director so we could have unlimited water. She made sure we always had at least two full boxes of safe drinking water at all times. They were carried onto our buses, tours, hotel lobbies, etc so having clean water was never an issue 🤗

You would need nicer clothes if you go to nice restaurants or clubs in Lima like the ones in or near Larcomar, the golf club in San Isidro, or a beach like Asia where an average beach hous ia a million dollars but usually tour guides do not know those places or ever been there because there is a lot of classism/racism in Lima. You would have to know somebody upper middle class/upper class to even know that. That’s why most tourists only go to ruins and spend little to no time in Lima, most tourists are dressed like Indiana Jones walking at a mall.
