I just wanted to say I have google the lens compatibility of my camera like 30 times and it did not explain anything to me but this video explained everything in like 1 minute. THANK YOU!
OMG You are Awesome it cleared a lot of doubt i had.. I already have m50 mark ‼️ and 50mm 1.8f Lens. but i was so confused to buy a zoom lens but i was confused about the Mount. And you helped me 🙏
@@freeleymedia I am really confused right now which one to choose!! I found EF-M 18 to 150mm do you think this is a good lens to buy? Thank you so much in advance ❤️
The fact that this only has 900 views is astonishing considering a lot of photography related videos fail to explain the difference in the EF / RF / EF-S lenses. As someone looking to Get into photography / vlogging I was considering the canon m50 mark 2. Any advice for this camera as far as lense and such?
Get the viltrox speedbooster as it will adapt EF lenses and give you a couple extra stops of light. As for lenses, you can't go wrong with e good 50mm prime. 24-105 is also a good all around lens.
The list is cool but a bit flawed/misleading. Not all R- line cameras are full frame or crop sensor. Example, R7 , R10, and R50 and they DO NOT take EF-M as the list would suggest a mirrorless-APS-C would... they are RF/RF-S (specially designed for crop sensor cameras) lens mounts. Only M- line mirrorless cameras take EF-M mounts (M50, M100, M200, so on) but correct on that being just APS-C types.
Why would a FF lens (EF) on an apsc sensor add crop? The FF lens covers the whole crop sensor. Only putting an APSC lens on on a FF sensor would add crop, as the lens doesn't cover the whole sensor. I think you don't clearly understand what you're talking about, or it's to early for me to write a comment :D I am not familiar with canon, but with Nikon and Sony. And here you can use crop lenses on a ff body which gives you crop, but definitly not the other way round.
Thank you so much bro.. i have been bit out of cameras i totally forgot what to use for my camera 1200 D. But more than refreshing your video is very informative and cleared all my doubts.. Thank you once again.. Love from Chennai ♥️♥️
Thank you so much for this explanation, i was looking forward on using the canon 80d with the Canon EF 70 - 200 mm f/2.8 L IS II USM. Especially to make prank videos. What do u think about my choice and would it add a crop ?
I still have a question which is unclear to me. Let's say I have an APS-C camera, and 2 lenses from Canon: one EF and the other EF-S, and no difference other than that (including the focal length written on the lenses). Will I get pictures with the same FOV? Or will the EF produce a narrower picture? In other words, is the FOV defined only by the written focal length, or by the sensor size also?
From what I read on the internet, the focal length written on lenses is the real focal length (not the 35mm equivalent). So the only difference between the lenses should be the size of the projected picture. And since the sensor is cropped in both cases, it should receive the same picture on its surface.
You probably already know by now but they’ll both be cropped in the same amount. Many people (including myself after my first APS-C camera) are mistaken in understandably assuming that the EF-S wouldn’t have a crop because it’s made for APS-C sensors. That is unfortunately not true. They produce the exact same crop. I learned this in testing with both my EF and EF-S lenses on my APS-C. You might be wondering why they even bothered making APS-C lenses if they have the same crop. I am wondering that too lol.
@@cheesebusiness The result image is the same, yes. You still have to apply the same crop factor when calculating things. When you buy EF-S from B&H it tells you right there in the description, Canon doesn’t like to mention it though. As far as them being cheaper, they’re no cheaper than the budget line of EF from Canon and made the same quality. So, when EF can be used on FF or APS-C, are the same price for the same quality as EF-S, and EF-S can only be used on APS-C, I’m really not sure why they’d make this extra line UNLESS they wanted to get newbies spending their money on a line of lenses and cameras that they’ll have to abandon when they eventually upgrade to FF.
@@giannobong6778 thanks for the information. Unfortunately I don’t have various equipment to compare. “EF-S is supposed to be cheaper” is what I read on the internet. It makes sense to me, because it needs smaller lenses to produce smaller image projection.
R5 has the RF mount so it will only be compatible with the RF and EF lenses (via adapter). As far as I know, EF-M lens is only compatible on on EF-M mount
Once you understand the different mounts, it's almost not a bother. I feel like that's the same way non Sony users don't get into Sony is because of their complicated menu system lol. Overtime you just get used to it. I think each of the camera brands have their pros and cons it's really up to the consumer to decide what they're able to put up with.
@@freeleymedia i havent gotten into any mirrorless actually. ive watched many sony videos i agree their menus are complex and canon are much better. actually i subbed to your channel awhile ago because i was researching on camera to buy for vlog, and came across m50. but after several research the action cameras, dji pocket cameras and insta360 cameras were good for me because they had best stabilization. if i get into photo i might get the canon but now i do only videos. keep it up.
nice! which one did you end up going with? I agree though, sometimes you might not even need a mirrorless or dslr camera. An action cam might be the one for you. Vlogging with action cams have its pros and cons. Pros is the superb stabilization and small profile. Cons is having a difficult way of mounting external mics on the camera and the smaller sensor doesn't do well in low light. I prefer the image of the larger sensors.
@@freeleymedia i went with dji pocket 2, insta360 x2, and dji action camera, all three actually. ive become a full time action camera fanatic. theyre fun to use. a dji pocket 2 with a bigger sensor would be perfect for low light vlog. currently for low light im considering a sony zv1, but i don't do alot of low light vlog. ive watched alot of comparison videos, i'm not a pixel peeper, but mostly theres not much difference in daylight, usually in low light definitely a bigger sensor. also im not a big fan of background blur, actually i want everything in sharp focus, because when i vlog its usually tours, and the people need to see everything. i walk and tour places, stabilization, wide angle, sharp focus, top priority for me. if there can be a mirrorless camera with great action camera like stabilization, count me in for sure. same day purchase lol. if i get into photos, definitely i would consider the m50, maybe for street photography. would be good for that.
Wow that must've costed a fortune! That's great that you found a type of camera that fit the videos that you were filming. At the end of the day, that's all you really need; a camera that fits what you need. Yeah I'm hoping for there to be a camera that has action camera-like stabilization. That would be awesome!
