It needs to be revised and a price drop there is your answer! Absolutely love E-Flite no question about it, but seeing this plane at my local field. And realizing how fragile it is, has deterred me from buying it at that price. I’ll just wait for the twin 80 EDF version when it comes out in the near future 😉. Thanks for the awesome video Brian!

Got mine finaly and throw my plans to give it a IRIAF paint out of the window :D It's now becoming a VF-31 Tomcatter LOWVIS. While painting the canopy grey, i noticed how sloppy the original paintjob on this part was. I like the plane but i would hate myself if i would have payed more than the 250€ (same in usd) that i got it for in a german RC shop :D I like it much more than my E-flite F-15 but i have to say that i never used the gear so maybe this extra drag kills the fun.

That would be COOL, but watch your weight!!! She's already on the edge, if you know what I mean. I'd go for VF-31 Tomcatter LOWVIS myself, with BLACK TAIL for better viz. As for the price. I wish EFlite would use this power system in another amazing plane soon, so you guys would see that this is the the TIP of the ice burg...oops, I slipped. Enough said, don't want to get in trouble. More to come soon ;)

@@BrianPhillipsRC Removing the stickers worked fine b.c. they took the paint with them instead of the foam like the F-15 sticker did :D I gave her 2 rly thin coats of spraypaint and than i started to paint all the details with a brush and acrylic paint XD Great if there is more to come but i was looking for a F-14 that fits into my car for so long now that i'm just happy that this thing is here now. Would love to buy the Freewing F-14 but the only way for me to fly it, would be to walk 3km (1.8miles) with the plane in my hand like i did with my FMS Cessna as i started the hobby :D

Had one on pre-order but after seeing reviews cancelled it as maybe too finicky for me. Going to try the FMS 64mm Rafale as a first EDF. Must admit this the F14 is such a cool aircraft. Thanks Brian for that great flight and insights as always.

Maybe someday? The F-14 is really cool, but it's not gonna be an "everyday flier" for most. The wings popping off can be a pain, but they do get saved at least. I'm actually REALLY excited to see what else they'll do with this power system!

Yeah baby, hand launch/belly land! She looks so sporty with no gear. Functional swept wings, SWEET! My 3 current planes are hand launch/belly landers. I believe most planes look better with gear up? The Park where I fly has the most amazing grass ( it seems to be some sort of Bermuda grass that has gone dormant and brown in the winter right now.) to play soccer on. But my landing gear won't stay on top of it. The wheels sink into that grass and my girls nose over when attempting to do a grass off. Because of that, the plane that just arrived ;-) may get a form fitted skid plate and become a hand launcher too. I've seen others hand launch her. Thrilling seeing a 1270mm/50" Warbird being hand launched with no problems at all. I believe that F-14 would do fine in taller/softer grass as a belly lander for sure. Maybe an optional skid plate kit would be a suggestion to the manufacture? Honest, fun vid. Cheers!

Nice hand launch! Two videos. Two wing joint releases. One on wheels, one in the grass. Second thoughts. Your first wheels down landing looked like something I would do. I'm surprised that running off the pavement in this video didn't dislodge a wing. But that was a good belly landing. Probably 8/10. Is it worthwhile having a second battery? While you're fixing the wing, you can recharge. Have you lost any of those 4 tiny screws yet? Seems like a really poor field repair prospect. They should include a bag of those screws. Gotta wonder why a quick release for that shell was too difficult for them to figure out at this price point. Magnets might've been better. The UMX F-16 had none of these issues yet it was discontinued almost overnight. So if you like it, get one while you can. Jason from Horizon spends his spare time defending the F-14 on RCGroups. Based on what I've seen, I figure this one will be off the market in less time than it took them to release it.

Great video, as much as I love the F-14 it seems a little too much maintenance for me and not user-friendly. Pricing is a little high at 3 Benjamins for this bird. Thanks for the insight though.

Sale going on till April 30th. SO, new release UMX Sabre (Not on sale) vs F14 (On sale) tricky swept back wing but on my realflight simulator. That is the question. Can realflight take me to the next level skill level required to fly this beast in real life? What's Brian's thoughts?

I have to agree with so many others this pain is more of a pain then fun I think I have had to repair it more than I have flown it. Now the takeoff is truly a pain in the A. Just my 2 cents but I would move pass this one and push another but thanks as always for the review pal.

Nope, as the top hatch is structural and vital to this model. Fixing the wings are a PITA!

4 landings, wing dislocated 3 times...and you are an advanced pilot, at least in your yard. They should have made the wing easier to work on. They should have made it twin 70s at the very least, and 2.5x larger. I agree its an engineering marvel, but they didnt make it user friendly enough. Thanks for the second thoughts videos.

I think weight became a real issue on this model, so they probably just needed to keep all the tail weight down as much as possible. Still has steerable, so a motivated individual could add them ;)

Its an overpriced, underpowered dog in the air, and the wings constantly detach from it's mechanism caused me to sell it after 3 flights.
