When it comes to patterns in the "attractor" category, Lance Egan's Rainbow Warrior may be one of the most popular flies of all time. The perfect balance of profile and flash, Lance's first commercially available fly can be found in the bins of fly shops all over the world. The Rainbow Warrior is one of those flies that seems able to produce trout in nearly every watershed, regardless of conditions. And that may seem like a bold statement... But it rings true for any angler that's had a slow day at the river saved by the mighty Rainbow Warrior.
Perdigons have been popularized over the years in czech/euro nymphing. These days, this fast-sinking, slender-bodied style of fly has become a staple in the nymph boxes of many trout anglers - not just the euro nymphing crowd.
The Warrior Perdigon is another of Lance's deadly Warrior variations. Combine the productive color schemes of the Rainbow Warrior with the durability & density of a perdigon, and you've got a bomb-proof nymph that gets down quickly. Similar to its mama, if you can't get a trout to eat a well-presented Warrior Perdigon, it might be time to call it a day!
