A spectacular hike in the Byrkjelo area, which is close to Loen in the Western part of Norway. A great benefit with this hike is that you get to gain a lot of elevation while you are still in your vehicle, so you will be above the tree line soon after you have started the hike. There are many rope sections, or chain sections I should say, but they are very doable for most hikers. From the top you can return the same way for a shorter hiking day, or you could do a loop like we did. I would favor the loop, although it takes a bit longer. The sign will tell you 5-6 hours. We did the whole hike in 8 hours with some longer stops and a leisurely pace.
