EGO 56v brushless chainsaw review and demo. My 1st time using a chainsaw and this thing cuts like its cutting into butter. I don't have many trees but I sure wish I did, this review was fun. Hope you find this review helpful. Links are below.

Thanks for the review. I've got the 14" and 18" and love them. I'm a city dweller with mature trees and there is always something to trim or cut down. When you were first going to cut down the tree, it looked like you had rested the chain on the trunk before starting the chainsaw. It looked like you correctly brought the saw up to speed before making contact with the wood when you actually cut the trees. With any gas, battery, or corded electric, let the saw get up to running speed before making contact with the wood. I've lived in Wisconsin my whole life. One of my duties as a child and now as a homeowner is to go out during the snowstorm and GENTLY get the snow off the trees like yours or bushes. Sometimes I do it several times during a storm. I bet you are a real popular guy in the neighborhood. No one needs to buy OPE with you around.

Bought an EGO chainsaw. Leaked oil. Brought it back to Home Depot and they sent it out for repair. Still leaks oil. Battery wears down quickly. You may get about 3-4 cuts on any wood 8" or thicker. It's alright if you want to trim a few branches.

I beleive ego, for their commercial line up, came out with a Arborist saw . It looked pretty cool

@@TechMadeEzy I believe the new Arborist model (which basically means a top handle saw that can be used one-handed) requires that the battery is worn on a hip belt. I think it would also work with the backpack battery holder, not the professional backpack with integrated battery. By not having the battery on the saw, the weight of the saw will be very light.

i got the 18 inch a few months back....the higher RPMs is what sold me....I don't have many trees in my yard but there are a few odds and ends that need trimming every so often.....i got tool only as I had 4 other EGO tools

I've got the 18" also and it does the job. I dropped 4 trees and was working on the 5th when the homeowners came out and yelled "who are you and why are you cutting down our trees." I'll have to sneak back later to finish the 5th. Good thing the saw has a light on it. JK I do have the saw and did drop a 20"+ diameter pine tree that had already been topped. It cut well but after dropping it I used up a 5.0Ah battery with about 6 bucking cuts. I've got plenty of batteries and finished the job with the 2nd battery. This tree was exceeding the saw's design by a few inches. I'm sure it would be great on 16" trees.

I have the 14 inch ego saw and mine leaks oil and hard to see how much oil is in it through the sight window. I do like the saw.

@@TechMadeEzy Works okay, but it has a very front heavy design which is hard for me to hold aloft, given it has no battery at the bottom to counteract the weight and so balance is awkward. I'll be getting the EGO version probably next year.

My only complaint on mine was oil sight. I couldn’t see how much was in mine. Maybe I didn’t have enough light on it, but other than that I loved mine. I’m brand new to chain saws myself

You overlooked the lubricating hole on the bar. See page 44. You also cut above shoulder height in violation of the admonishment on page 12. There is also a warning about ladders on page 10. Be safe bro.

Earlier today I came across a video from a saw repair guy where he says 90% of all saw oil leaks are from the filler cap. He was referring to one brand in particular. Nevertheless, the EGO manual says oil leaks are to be expected (page 24). To test the leaking cap theory, the 90% guy suggests storing the saw with the oil cap on top rather than on the side.

Model Number Question. Many EGO products seem to come two ways: a) with a model number or b) with the model number - FC. For example, the user manual for my saw is marked at the bottom of every page CS1400/CS1400-FC. I can find no indication as to what "FC" indicates. My saw is model number CS1400-FC. Lawn mowers and battery chargers also have "FC" flavors. Does anyone know what the difference is between -- FC versions and the ones without -FC in the model number?

@@TechMadeEzy That is a strong possibility, but its a scary thought. How many units would you have to recondition before you make a model number for it and include it on your operators manual? By the way, I finally took mine out of box. I noticed the following: 1) The chain was shipped installed what I believe was way too tight. 2) The chain feels like it has a little oil on it. 3) The box (which is brown cardboard with black ink line drawings, not with the color photo) includes a small oil stain on the inside. @@acecombatter6620 Only need 1 to make a new PN, if the company wants to differentiate between factory new and FC. It is arguably unethical to pack reconditioned units in original packaging.
