Another factor not taken in consideration over this test is the spectrum of emission of those blowers: the low-pitched noise of the 2 stroke engine will propagate way further than the high pitched sound of the electric blower.
Ego is really good, I own a bunch of there stuff. Its not as powerful as top of the line gas commercial equipment but its far quieter and will do the same job just a little slower. All you need to do to move tough debris is get a little closer to it. Your neighbors will love you. Gas blowers can be heard like a mile away.
I’ve got the ego snow blower and it’s unbelievable! Best snow blower I’ve ever used and blows away alll my neighbors gas powered snow blowers that are 3 stage even ! I’m so confident in their products that I just ordered that leaf blower that’s a cf650 180 mph leaf blower ! Can’t wait to test it ! Unfortunately it’s not a backpack version which is what I wanted but it’s the strongest leaf blower made that’s battery powered from what I researched
First problem, aside from the over exaggerated gas blower clip, is you bought a Poulan.. Second is if the wind blows that paper will move, doesn’t mean it’s strong enough to blow leafs
Hi! Great video! I have this blower and the 21" mower from Ego. I have to agree these are really great products, and you nailed this video. I too was pleasantly surprised with the blowing power of this unit, It took care of my very tree laden yard of wet leaves (80 gal of leaves) without any problems. The mower is equally great, mows my front and back (3 bags of clippings) like a champ! I am now gas-less for all my yard tools and I also highly recommend this equipment. That said, it should be noted that fast charging these batteries will shorten their lives, as batteries will last much longer charged slowly. Also, I leave my batteries discharged when the job is done, also for longevity. Remember, the 56V battery is about $200 to replace, which is a sizable cost of ownership, so make them last as long as possible. I would also mention the blower has a "Turbo" button that really kicks out the volume of air for the tough spots, but, and this is a big but, the battery life will evaporate in about half the time if used predominately. Still, a great product and hopefully will give me years of service! I have an anometer (wind meter), and will make a video showing the MPH of wind generated from this... a little more scientific, but not by much!
NOT A FAIR CAPARISON. The EGO BLOWER WHEN USED AT max VELOCITY IS 600 cfm. The Poulan you are demonstrating with at FULL Power is 475 CFM. You need to compare equivalent CFM blowers. Also Compare run time at full power
Why do you show a redmax ebz8550 in the photo. Yet compares a not that good gas to the ego. What is the cfm, mph, and n the blowing force. How long does a battery last?
I use my Ego backpack blower to create fire breaks around my mountain home. Works well for that. Like you, I became frustrated with the hassles of gas yard tools. Ego tools are steadily improving in power. As a system (the tool, the user & the terrain), the Ego option works well for some people in some types of terrain. Others prefer gas. To each his own. Thanks for a great video!
"hassles" of gas power ... lol ... like charging up multiple batteries for any yard larger than 1/4 acre ... having to replace those batteries after a few years ... and the cost to mother Earth for mining the lithium to produce those batteries... sure, bud
I have BOTH the Ego hand held blower AND the Ego back pack blower (with the blower attached to the back pack). The back pack EGO is much easier on your wrist because you don't have to wield that heavy hand held, back and forth. Not bad if you have a small yard. But for BIG jobs the Ego back pack blower is well worth the extra money.
Over time I'm sure it evens out, gas, trips to get gas, oil, and from my experience winterizing your gas powered equipment sucks and if you don't use non ethanol gas you'll be rebuilding the carb after winter unless you run them on occasion. Home owner, buy battery.. professional.. buy gas
Is that a joke cuz thoes blowers are made for leaves I've tried using them to blow off a motrocyle and it takes just as long as it would to dri with a towel cuz the blower head diameter is too wide u need like a small house vacume hose attachment to blow it right off easy
It sounds like your poulan pro is struggling to reach full throttle due to maybe it not getting enough fuel. It also sounds like it is not getting enough air check the carburetor. Not only that you need to make sure that your fuel ratio is alright. Make sure your getting fuel throttle maybe the throttle cable is bad. It could even be your spark plug or the engine itself being worn torn and abused. I also saw a little corrosion on you gas backpack blower. Make sure you check all those things.
The Stihl gasoline-powered backpack leaf blower can beat that thing by a long shot. I've used it several times, and the man making the video overexaggerated the results of having a gas leaf blower. What he showed on the video is not true, because, in my dad's lawn care business, we have encountered no problems with the leaf blower-if any. A week ago, I was asked by a lady to clean up leaves in her yard. She handed me the leaf blower (it was electric), I started it, and I was disappointed by the results-it had terrible blowing power. I said, "My dad's is by far superior to this thing". What the man in the video didn't point out in the video was the disadvantages of having an electric-powered leaf blower. 1.) The blowing power is terrible, (2) A fully charged battery in electric does not last as long as a full tank of gas in a gas leaf blower, (3) You have to take hours to charge an electric leaf blower, while you can take 30 seconds to fill up gas, and (4) The way to start a gas leaf blower is not as difficult as the way that he showed it. If he could not start it, he obviously doesn't know what steps to take in a gas leaf blower, he did know how to start it, he acted like a baby while starting it and disregarded those steps for the sole purpose of downplaying the gas leaf blower, or he compared a brand new electric leaf blower to a ten-year-old beaten gas blower to downplay it. I am not saying that there are no disadvantages to having a gas-powered leaf blower, but they ought to outlast an electric powered. I asked everyone I know their opinions on this subject, and they recommended using a gas leaf blower. GET THE GAS, DON'T BE A FOOL AND GET ELECTRIC!
Kyle...Of course the Stihl Back Pack Blower is more powerful. HOWEVER, there are good reasons for purchasing and using an EGO Blower (Hand Held). For one is the weight. They are (with battery) at least half the weight of a Back Pack Blower. (12-13 lbs) The newer EGO 650CFM (Hand Held) is pretty darn good for what I need it for. Plus I believe the the newer 650CFM is more powerful then the EGO Back Pack Blower.... People with COPD (like myself) cannot handle the Gas Powered Back Pack Blowers anymore. The EGO 650CFM Blower that I just purchased (with the Shoulder Strap) works perfectly for me and people with health issues like me. The EGO Blower can blow leaves out from around the house, fence, beds, etc, very well. THEN I just use my Toro Timecutter to move/mulch the leaves from there. I purchased a 75750 Timecutter 50" Deck mainly to use during leaf season. It is more mower then I need for just cutting grass but, it is quite powerful for leaves. I also use the EGO Blower to clean up my Timecutter after I finish my lawn. When I put it away back in its shed it is all clean and ready to use when I need it. The spindles & belts are free from debris. ALSO: With the EGO Trimmer you get another battery so I can swap out batteries then charge whatever battery I am not using at that moment.
Exactly. If you are a professional mower than electric would be silly. But I have the EGO 650CFM also and it has been a dream to use. Super powerful and easy to use. My neighbor just sold his gas blower after trying my ego. They are not like they used to be that’s for sure. I feel like people had an electric Ryobi blower 10 years ago and compare everything to that. These new electric blowers are super powerful. Period.
The EGO has it's place but you can buy a nice used commercial grade blower for the price of the battery blower. It would be no contest. Plenty of handhelds that will out perform that little Poulan.
the ego blower is great if you get a 7.5ah battery... its close to my commercial gass blowers but wont last super long really you can do about 0.2 acre per 7.5 amp hour battery depending on complexity. I did a 0.4 acre property with tons of gardens and trees in about 3x7.5 ah battery charges.
I'm sure you're more intelligent than this, but you realize that blower cost more than twice what the Ego does? The gas blower he's using is about the same cost as an Ego.
@joshua2585 they are, my blowers are not factory fresh... I used to use $1k Stihl BR700 blowers we had 2 of them and they were comparable for most applications with the exception of perhaps really heavy fall cleanups. With my current all electric commercial setup I'm up to 7 batteries so I can pretty much do 3 to 4 hour cleanups, if I wanted to. the ego back pack blower is fine for most small scale commercial applications. I'd rather not listen to you drool talking about things you think you know. Much of blowing is a technique with the exception I stated previously, so keep blubbering like a 12 year old child, and claiming my words are mixed... they are not...
@joshua2585 again your reading comprehension sucks... I said it is nearly as powerful as my commercial blowers. $749.95 is the MSRP which means they can go for around $800.00 Canadian.
Lets be honest,Anybody would prefer a lighter battery powered backpack blower so their feet and back and ears were not killing them at the end of a long hard days work.Truth is i use an echo 8010 and no battery will run more than 45 mins full go and none of those put near the power so until then this is homeowner shit and i long for a battery that can run all day and do my work.
if you aren't using ear protection when using a small engine device (leaf blower, lawn mower, etc), you are incredibly stupid. And if you mount the blower properly, it is not a risk to your back.
@Steven Seagull the county I live in is about to ban gas leaf blowers ... a complete crock of shit, and the hypocrisy is obvious when the people backing the movement are either renters (and not vested in maintaining a yard), or rich people who want "exceptions" for golf courses and wooded areas/parks. That says it all. If a law isn't applied equally across the population, it is not a just law. Sure, they want to get a fund of taxpayer money to help buy back gas blowers ... I say if they want to buy back, then they should trade for equal compensation... meaning they must provide a free electric blower of equal power to the gas one you are turning in. But I digress... and this is just the beginning. Once this is passed, next year they will keep pushing to do it with mowers. Then it won't be long before the whole "anti-lawn" agenda is pushed where you aren't allowed to have grass lawns.
I though a big selling feature is the CFM being more powerful then gas, so without the runtime on the battery use on High whats the point. Just like a cordless vacuum battery tested on low is pointless, everyone uses it on high. What is the runtime on High?
I compared this with my Stihl blower and this is the closes to it. Though the Stihl is louder and just a bit heavier. The Gas last FOREVER compared to batteries. And not as reliable when you're off on the Job. So I left the Electric for HOME use only. And for blowing off the water from my car after washing it. And lets be honest about one thing also. Since you mention Tesla. It's like gas is Manual and Electric is Automatic. Your kids have to learn to use gas and understand how to use them. It helps them understand more. So anyone who skip using Gas to Electric, I feel sad for them. It's like having sex for the first time. We don't know what we're all doing.
With a gas powered blower, if you can't get a ride to the gas station or Wal*Mart to pick up a can of gas, that quite effectively means that the gas mower/blower/cartel beheading weapon/hedgetrimmer has zero battery life.
How about moving some leaves? Very disappointed. My ego blower is not even close to the most basic of gas blowers. I had hoped for a true review. No luck.
Unbox Warehouse I have a high end Honda gas mower too and just bought the Toro 60 volt. I hope to come to the same conclusion on my lawnmower as he did. As far as the blower I have a Echo PB8010 blower and that gas blower you showed has no right to be called a blower as it is junk. My Echo has almost twice the CFM as the Ego as well as a much higher MPH. Sure it is loud and heavy but it will be done within less than half the time the Ego will be and starts in 2 pulls every time. Run it out of gas at the end of the year is all the maintenance it basically needs or keep no-ethanol gas and start it every couple months. My trees in my small\average city lot are way too big for the Ego blower☹️
Literally comments: gas vs electric For me I prefer the gas blower like the Sthil I have but I like the ego hedge trimmer and the string trimmer more than gas It’s all just personal preference. No need to fight
4:34 you can even see that he is not blowing the right direction. 🤣 how can you do a fair comparision when you say during the testing that you hate the gas one. Its a biased unfair review. Disliked!
I have a colbolt lawn mower and let me tell u its just as powerful as the gas ones and it doesn't have emissions no belts no fixing it no gas no leaking lines no fucking with carbs none of that best product ive purchased and I have the colbolt weed eater as well and there is no boging when I hit thick brush has more power than a gas weed eater good products fuck gasoline gasoline is the most stupid form of energy u put it in the air and u can't get it back so u polute the planet with something that has shity power and always fucking around with it electric is the shit
