I always go Egyptair LHR to LXR direct. No complaints, nice spiced biryani meals. No luggage lost, arrives on time. I even like that you can use a paper ticket.
Egyptians at masters at saving money while providing necessity. I flew business class in 2017 with EA, and it was no good. With that said, they invested heavily into getting their airline into better shape. What’s most important is that their planes are in good operation
I flew Egypt Air once and never again. My main complaint was the strong smell of cigarette smoke coming from the flight deck. Cabin crew were way too scared to challenge the pilots. When the Captain did their 'rounds' thru business class, he held his hand out for those passengers wishing to kiss it to do so. A horrible airline, never again...
@@JP-oe4ry EgyptAir recently only banned their pilots from smoking in like 2017 after a EgyptAir A320 crashed from a route from Paris to Cairo in 2016 when a pilot was smoking and an oxygen leak ignited a inferno resulting in the aircraft crashing.
I just recently flew Egyptair Business Class on their 777-300 and I have to say although your points are all valid I had a better experience. Booked on points and everything but I guess it's the route that also matters. Obviously they don't compete with the likes of Qatar and Emirates but if you get a good deal and you don't mind going in with low expectations then it shouldn't be that bad.
Egyptair offers Business Class award seats on dates when no other Star Alliance carrier shows availability. I kinda knew why - they are the airline of last resort - and your review confirms it. This video will be the closest I ever get to seeing the inside of an Egyptair plane. Thankful there are plenty of other choices.
I fully agree with your remarks and I speak as an Egyptian. I will fly Egypt Air if it’s the cheapest option. Otherwise, I’ll consider the alternatives. I think you are able to consume alcohol on board if you bring booze with you. I did that before. No problem and the flight attendant provided the cup and ice graciously. This was a while a back and I can’t confirm if this is still the case.
Well, somehow I can relate your experience, however, being squeezed into a middle seat in Business Class, can easily happen on any EK Boeing 777 as well. ;-)
That's one of my biggest pet peeves about business class in these airliners having to share the same aisle with another passenger. The premise of business class is to have your own seat and space, not a 2-3-2 configuration. Everytime I see and hear that there's an airline with this configuration, I move on the the next airline until I find something like a 1-2-1 configuration,not the other. Glad I saw this video before making a reservation with them to travel to Oman.
Defo agree with the business class in terms of economy on the 77W they offer 34 inch legroom which is amazing for someone who is 6'6, 789 i havent flown on yet but the 77W and 333 were good products for ecomomy, amazing crew offered me 2 meals as i didnt have my choice but brnag some chicken meal from bysiness class

they're honestly not that bad, the flight I went on was pretty clean, the food was amazing and I didnt really give a shit abt the crew... The IFS was also good, this was in like 2019 tho and it was an airbus
one reason why people use Egyptair is actually because of their baggage policy, a lot of times they would offer 3 pc of baggage to routes that other airlines would offer 2 also they always have discounts to encourage the purchase of excess baggage, that used to be in the past now not so much
They invested heavily in the fleet the past few years, the 787-9 is amazing! It’s a shame though that they don’t upgrade their triple 7’s which, in case it happens, will add value to their services and prices.
I flew the same route just added Delhi flight Leg, DEL-CAIRO-JFK, and flew back to Delhi. The return trip was reasonably priced at around $1300 for a business class ticket considering they shouldn’t be your first choice ever, but certainly better than flying economy. Notably, they didn't serve alcohol on the flight, but if you brought your own, they provided glasses and a chaser so you could mix your own drinks and enjoy.

Please only book Egyptair is unavailable. You're better off taking a connecting flight with either Qatar Airways, Emirates, Etihad, Saudia, Gulf Air, literally ANYTHING else. You're even better off with American Airlines

The curtain between economy and business is pinned open for takeoff and landing on most airlines because those are the most likely times for an emergency exit to be needed, and a curtain flapping around between the two cabins is just one more hazard to slow an evacuation. So I'm not sure I'd call that a nice touch.
I recently just back using Egypt Air flying business class. I said no due to the food situation, and movie selection. The flight attendant catered to their own. Spent 151,000 round trip points. The only I like was the flight was nonstop. Everything you said was spot on.
Yeah Egypt air is amazing and this is just a old business class and the new is amazing even all the old buisness class so I think you should try it again
Flew egyptair business out of IAD last year, and I was lucky to have one of their new products in the 1 2 1 config. Was my first time in business class, so I was just tickled not to sit next to anyone for 10 hours.

No, no, no...Egyptair is a NO GO for me! My last Egyptair flight was in 2016 from Hurghada to Prague and believe me or not the cockpit crew asked a girl during boarding if she wants to get in the cockpit and join them for an entertaining flight. Both captain and first officer were smoking during the entire flight. I knew the girl and she showed me multiple pictures and videos from the cockpit...
And also Tunis Air is an airline to avoid in my opinion. I didn't feel safe traveling with Tunis Air at all. There were multiple lifewests on the floor, absolutely dirty and broken seats and not a single English speaking crew member. No thank you.
Just flew on Egyptair 8 times in the last month. Yup! Domestic flights were no frills but fine. Madrid to Cairo was awful. Toilet was so dirty. Seats were so dirty and old. I was in business and the seat didn't recline (broken), and the footrest was broken in a partially up position! The entertainment also didn't work. Flight home from Cairo to London was better but not great.
Everything you said is spot on. As an Egyptian super frequent business class traveler (I'm talking two flights a week) , I actively avoid Egypt air basically for all the points you mentioned. Also, the no alcohol thing is a complete deal breaker for me

Given Egypt Air's pretty generous award availability to other Star Alliance programs, I've been tempted on a few occasions to book them, but always find myself on an alternative instead. One point to note...Egypt Air isn the only M.E. airline to have 2-3-2 seating in J. The other culprit just adds lots of fake gold and walnut and a semi decent wine list.
Btw you need to fly the Edihads residence. I flew it like a few weeks ago. The only two things it is kind of pricey, and the couch doesn’t recline to a bed. At least there is a bed in the edge of the residence.
@Gabriel Ik it was like a year ago after I graduated 8th grade at the top of my class, so my dad took my on a “luxury trip” to Dubai.( I flew it 6/29/2022) I haven’t heard the residence wasn’t in service. I am kind of upset though. I may fly Singapore suites though. (If they didn’t get canceled) I am going to a wedding in Japan for my cousin’s wedding.

Hi Dan. I flew to Egypt in July 2022 using British Airways, business class. The 8 hour flight to Heathrow from Orlando was great. But the 5 hour flight from London to Cairo was the most disappointing business class flight I ever took because the flight, so called business class, was literally like like flying on a Southwest flight. There was no extra leg room let alone any extra reclining. It really was like flying economy. I was so looking forward to napping on this flight, but was unable to. Is there a way, Dan, to figure out the plane details when booking a business class ticket?
Just check the flight status online it has plane details, aircraft number etc. They almost always use this very same 777 on London to Cairo route. The 15:00 from Heathrow to London is always departing late . The decent business class flight is Dreamliner Egypt has (Q suites ) but only a few routes with this plane as they don't have many . Like 4. But food on all I have been on isn't best and infotainment same.

As far as my experience on egyptair and the cairo airport i think its kinda scary there but its also pretty good and exciting because i used to live in egypt and i have famliy in egypt (im half Egyptian) i love cairo 💗🫶
I’ve never flown flown Egypt Air cuz I’ve heard some terrible reviews on its long haul flight. Now it seems like the decision in absolutely right and the only occasion I would probably fly them is, A, they have an incredible cash ticket deal, or B, I’m just looking for a nice sleep on the flight and would just like to turn my seat into sleeping mode right after take off and wake up right before landing. Actually I do think I’ll prefer them on a six or seven hour trans-Atlantic flight from the east coast and 10 hour seems a bit too much for being awake on this airline.....

Oh I’m not just making evident-less accusations. I’ve actually been to Cairo and flew out of Cairo once with a Star Alliance partner of Egypt Air and went to Egypt Air’s lounge.

I recently flew economy on Egyptair CAI to JFK. The food was disappointing. No drink selection and my tray table was broken. I was just glad to get home.

Fun fact an Egypt air 787 flew into my home airport KSBD and I was really puzzled why such a random carrier was flying over my house…. I guess SBD is where it received it’s interior.
Flew with Egypt Air Nov 4 and 22, Toronto to Cairo, on Economy. Bad experience. On those two flights, food tray was broken (i got row 20 right behind business class). Entertainment screen couldn’t lift. Planes were full, @egyptair you surely can repair that.

It didn’t seem that bad to me, as I have had equivalent experiences on several European and US carriers, most notably BRITISH AIRWAYS and AUSTRIAN AIRLINES . What do you expect for 70K? I recently priced a flight JFK - BCE via CAI on EGYPTAIR using AEROPLAN miles, and it was 80K. Everyone else was either over 400K or had mixed cabins. For the price, it seems like you did okay…
Shocked they closed the curtains between cabins on the ground. Incredibly dangerous. I hope the FAA see this and have a word. I flew Egyptair in business class from Cairo to Beijing. Worst flight ever. About 80% of the cabin were moved up from economy - staff, friends of the captain etc. Service was shocking. And Cairo airport is also terrible. Everyone at the security checkpoints were smoking. Nothing worked in the lounge. Never again.
Hi Dan! I remember many things, mostly unfortunate, from our trip to Egypt in 2017. However, what stands out for me is the fact that Egyptians don’t buckle up for take-off or landing and the cabin crew couldn’t care less!
The woman sitting next to me refused to buckle up as were the others I could see around me. So, if you don’t believe me, take a plane ride on Egypt Air from Cairo to Luxor and see for yourself!
I didn't like Egypt air. I flew with them this summer. I flew Qatar airways on first class from AMM to DOH. Amazing. The country of Jordan was a breath of fresh air after traveling around Egypt.
That filth behind the reclining seat is downright scary and worthy of a partial refund. And the food is slop that looks like leftovers from the airport cafeteria.
Egypt air is a good airline but I will not recommended that much if your flying to any other countries you should go with Etihad or emeral that's the best one eye recommend but no matter the airlines if you have a good flight that's all matters
