In this weeks episode we carry out the remedial work following an EICR we carried out for a customers whose property is in North London.
The electrical installation condition report we carried out flagged up a number of issues including earthing matters, non-complaint power points and lights. The major job however was replacing the old dual tariff consumer unit with MCBs for a newer version with RCBOs.
The episode starts with us replacing an old shaver point and bathroom light fitting. We then move on to solve the issue with earthing on the metal class 1 light fitting. After a bit of fault finding we able to establish the cause of the earth fault and rectify it.
On the second day we remove the old and install a new fuseboard. Enjoy!

I like when you said take your time do the job right and don't rush. There are too many psychopaths running businesses rushing and bullying others. Life is too short to be wasting it cos of unnecessary stress and pressure. Cheers.

I like the bit where you skipped having to make the hole in the ceiling larger to stuff the connectors through 😜 Never pretty is it. Typical turn of the century property where a lot of cowboys and DIY hands have had a go.

Hi Gary can you please tell me how this is done using the kewtech kt62 multifunction tester or the ROBIN kts 1620 MFT as the instruction book says nothing about the two lead high loop test, on the control dial there are two settings, loop 20 ohms 200 ohms and 2000 ohms, psc 200A 2000A and 20ka also how to do Ze Another great video thank you

You are amazing personality and sense of humour. I appreciate your works, courage and way of working. I am a beginner in electrician works. Hope we will get much information watching your videos. Just need more information when you use a particular tool or equipment e.g. multimeter or a Driver .

What voltage do you bring into residential homes in the UK? Was that 240v to the fixtures and devices? Love the vids by the way. Just cool to see how things are done in other part of the world. From your vids so far i confirmed blue is neutral. In Canada its white

nice one Del, I use bushes when doing smaller dbs like that with double lock rings to stand it off the trunking slightly to allow a gap for the lid, but prefer to use paxolin when doing bigger stuff to give myself lots of room for the cables to enter :-) great vids keep an em up pal.

Delroy The Spark I’m thinking of the best way to incorporate an economy 7 circuit board into one main board along with the rest of the house . Now I’ve seen this gives me a little bit good for thought cheers bud . I was originally thinking a Hagar stack and use the bottom for the economy 7 but this looks a better way rather than a big horrible looking board for only 4 storage heaters . 👍 any tips be welcome cheers bud

I just installed a Hager board with a bunch of their compact RCBOs. They do make it a doddle to install, with all that extra space.

You should get yourself the 221 series of wagos instead of them 222 you've used

Hi, I have just found your videos recently and I find them to be a great help in my new chosen career. I am yet to gain qualifications but I have one question: When you tested the earth & phase you used a megger tester but when you tested the same later on, you used your fluke tester. Is there a massive difference between the two testers? I was just curious to know why two different testers were used in the video. Great videos, many thanks for sharing your knowledge. All the best - Lee
@AskCorie
@AskCorie 4 года назад
You can use the megger as well as the fluke voltage tester to prove continuity. Remember the megger is multitester meaning it has more than one use/purpose.

Good video Del... Just curious to what screwdrivers you use rearly ever see you use a pozi bit drill to drive home the woodscrews!! Lost my favourite terminal screwdriver a while back had it a very long time but replaced it with a Stanley Fatmax that I picked up in Woodies one day and oddly enough find it every bit as good... Keep the Vlogs coming...

Since when did having 220v between line and cpc tell you had a good earth

Also impedance test is a resistance i think?
@p00pipe
@p00pipe 5 лет назад
The 117 V readings between line and cpc, and neutral and cpc is a sign that the cpc isn't connected to anything and is just floating. Two parallel conductors separated by insulation forms a capacitor. If the cpc is just floating, then you effectively have two capacitors in series - one between the line and cpc and one between the cpc and neutral. You are just measuring the voltage at the centre point of the two capacitors, which will be half the supply voltage. But telling a customer they now have a good earth is a lot more reassuring.
