He grazed him before the hand got in there. You can see the glove flop/wiggle. The problem is we are taught young to not chase the tag but to walk away as if though you know you tagged him out. This is a proper teaching which can confuse an ump in the moment and get you outs. The overall problem is instead with the replay rules it causes BEAZ to ask for that instead of understanding there is gonna be a replay on a close call such as this either way and he should have just stuck with the tag.

The tag was not to the face, it was very quickly to the elbow. I'm ok with not overturning that call, not really definitive. But I'm pretty sure Javy got him with that tag and that was prior to Abreu's hand getting to the bag. For those saying why argue after replay.... when you're convinced of the call the only ones to vent to are in front of you. And we've see replay overturn the correct call on the field many times.

They needed the players to agree. Well, they got it put in along with a clear provision that the replay decision could NOT be challenged or agued with under punishment of automatic ejection. The players, managers, and coaches have made a mockery of the replay system by still arguing the result when they AGREED not to. Remember, they AGREED to the way the system was instituted. They might not have all the equipment that New York has at every ballpark. You want to spend hundreds of millions of dollars raising ticket prices to cover the equipment they need to put in each ballpark instead of just letting it happen how the OWNERS want it to in New York. It takes more than a umpire it takes technology staff ect to operate the equipment and do exactly what the umpires want to piece together camera angles freeze at a certain point and advance it forward slow enough to get what they want to see. They don't do it like new york who can put two or more cameras together at the same time on the same screen. Like this call here how at 1:20 we can not see every part of the bag as the front SUDE is not visible they could take that angle and the angle from the camera that was showing the front of the bag look at them on the same screen pieced together and should be able to tell on most calls if there is enough evidence to OVERTURN the call on the field.
