Varaha Purana's Tildhenu Dan Mahatmya says " या सा माया शरीरात्तू ब्रह्मण्यब्यक्तजन्मनः । गायत्री-अष्टभुजा भूत्वा चैत्रासुरमयोधयत् ।। सैव नन्दाभवद्देवी देवकार्यचिकीर्यया । महिषाख्यासुरवतं कुर्वति ब्रह्मणेरिता ।। वैष्णवाख्या ततो देव कथमेतद्धिंश से में । इयं जगद्धिता देवी गंगा शंकरसुप्रिया ।।" Not only that, Mahishmardini Tantra also says, ' रुद्राङ्के उपविष्टं तां वैष्णवी दुर्गां नमामि माहिषासुरनाशिनीम् ". That means She is the consort of Rudra. After killing Mahisha, she married him . She killed Mahishasur in Shatashringa ⛰.
