You should look into importing a Holden Ute in the future, it's pretty much a modern El Camino with LS or even a Buick 3800 (depending what year). Personal favourites are VS utes and VE utes.
I'm loving the step by step upgrade and test videos. The 305s have 58cc heads with 8.5:1 CR right? Vortec heads would be a nice cheap upgrade but they have some where around 64cc chambers.
I bought those same headers for my Caballero Diablo. Just haven't had time to install them. You have a real clean ride. I love the look with those wheels.
Hello, thank you for showing this video . I have a 1984 el camino with a/c. I followed you recommendation and purchased these headers.I couldn't do it 20 minutes like you guys (Lol) did. I have a problem and I hope you can help. The bracket that is behind the A/C compressor (that bolts to the head) ,I can't bolt it back because it hits the first tube of the header(driver side) . What did you do to overcome this? Did you cut the right side of the bracket to clear the first tube? Thank you in advance!
I love what you're doing with this series but i really think it would be cool to see how cheap it can also be to do a junkyard 350 swap after you have reached the end of the 305 stuff just to see the difference in potential with an extra 45 cubes. Like everything you put into the 305 swap over to a junkyard 350. I know for a fact in my case i was able to make 300hp with a 350 that i had a total of $600 invested into it including the cost of the engine.
I could have made more than that but it was my daily driver at the time so i also wanted decent street manners. So i opted for a mild cam and sprayed it with a 125 shot at the track the 300hp was no spray btw
Love these basic mods to a basic factory engine. The horsepower figures aren't huge but the 0-60 is really decent. With better tyres and and cooler weather I bet you'd be down at 6.5 seconds.
She might look better a little lower I’m more of the Monte Carlo SS or the Cutlas with the rally sports and the beauty rings but those wheels match the elcamino that you have on em it needs a little low
Jack it looks like your just stomping the gas from a idle on your 0- 60 pulls. Why aren’t you foot braking it to get rpm up to 2000- 2500 stall before leaving? That’s has to make a difference.
I wish so badly you could tune my dad's 69 Camaro lol it would have so much more potential with your guidance. He sold the 489 that was in it (from when he used it as a drag car) and put in a 5.3 for it to be kept alive on the street because who the fuck can keep up with a drag car lol It's far too expensive. It rips as is but it needs a Jack tune.
Jack buddy I think your money would be well spent on a 383 bottom end and a set of trick flow heads and you will see the big difference in performance !! Easiest way to get where you want to be!!
@@Maakyuhlinsky I understand that . just hate seeing the wizard so disappointed . when he is doing all the rite things. cause everything he is doing are the rite things!! But I’ve been thru it with the 305 and it’s just a real dog of a engine!! I’m just trying to help no disrespect it’s his car if he wants to put a scooter motor on it none of my business!!
@@gixxernut8021 yeah, the whole point is its underpowered and he thought it would be fun to upgrade step by step and see what happens. I think it's a great series and shows some valuable lessons along the way. Keep it up Jack. You are right at the cusp. Let's see how far the ol girl can go!
