El Cheapo KAM 

Using, in this case, a 12VDC power supply for something-Microsoft (I have no idea what this was for) as a power-stable Keep Alive Memory unit for those times you gotta-for-real remove the battery in a vehicle made after the production date of 1998 or so.
This is much more important as the vehicle becomes newer!
