El hanging out with DJ quik, playing piano, cussing out homeboy who talked about punching James DeBarge, and just chilling in the lab with Quik and his homies.
The DeBarge family grew up in the projects of Detroit and Grand Rapids, Michigan. Berry Gordy and Motown cleaned them up, like they did to all Motown acts. However, you can see that ghetto coming out of him.
LMAO! I can't count how many times I've watched this in the past couple days. El is hella gangsta but when that big country ass motioned for him to get up...he said huh? LOL
After watching the video for a second time, (this time the entire video), I see that it's more than El looking like a thug, but the video focused on his talent on the piano. El is absolutely brilliantly amazing. IT would be nice if El would do an entire Christmas CD on the piano, with jazz musicians. IT would be jazzy, classy, sexy, it would be El DeBarge. Just a thought.😏
I LOVE EL DEBARGE and I love DJ QUIK because he loves EL (among other reasons) . Common non music people weren't knowin who wrote all those samples used and still being used til they heard my "in a special way tape I was bumpin in 94. El I love you baby please don't ever stop singing or playin the piano we need you so bad. And tell em too cuz nobody should be punchin on none of your family members. :)
Yeah man by many accounts the DeBarges aren't soft by any stretch. They're nice guys but they'll confront you in a second if you disrespect them, as they should. From what i hear Chico and Bobby were especially known for their hands but they're all fighters if necessary. Don't let the way they look fool ya.
I'm actually surprised and shocked, when I first read about the DeBarge family I thought they would be like The Jackson family. I'm not gonna lie they don't look like no hard-core gangsta's, I'm not saying their punks or anything like that. Come on they used to wear flamboyant outfits, and they use to straightened their hair and put perms in it similar to a woman's hairstyle. Also they sung slow love songs, they didn't make gangsta music like Bones Thugs and Harmony. I would never guessed that they would be violent but hey I guess you can't judge a book by it's cover
@@EJ-cc1qz bruh I'm a black woman with some Caucasian and Latino in my background but I'm NOT biracial therefore I know a lot about hair. None of them except for El, Chico, Marty, and Bobby had a wavy straight Hispanic like hair. Tommy, Bunny, and Randy's hair was more coarse and afro like an average African American person. Hell even James hair was coarse and thick, his hair wasn't straight or stringy like a Caucasian person. Like I said I don't believe any of them had hair relaxers but you can tell that they used that hot comb or a hair straightner to get their hair to look like that. All kinds of people use hair straightners such as Asians, Hispanic/Latino, Middle Easterns, etc. But I know for a fact their hair isn't just naturally pressed like that
@@vikkistar3104 Well look at Quik,he has the soft pretty boy look but was known to get in several fights back in the day and its public knowledge he was member of TTP Blood Gang
Legends..!!♥️✨ It’s a real same that they didn’t get the huge recognition from the eyes of the music industry cause they deserve so much ..!!! ♥️✨ God is good (especially for El) he will be awarding with a Soul Train Award or something like that for his music contribution, I really believe it from the bottom of my heart..!!🙏🏽♥️✨✨✨✨
people outside the west coast just don't know how we can clown on each other man. we keep it G and we know how to let go and have fun. we love to party.

Everyone is shocked that El is cursing trust me I've heard multiple accounts that the DeBarges ain't soft and i heard Bunny is the worse I heard she's very ghetto
@sparsa5.....The one more chance melody is El DeBarge's "Stay with Me" and the song, "A Dream" was relased when he was with his siblings as well. His sister Bunny sings the lead vocal. Both songs are here on RU-vid. Listen to El's keyboard talent on the instrumental of "A Dream". It is so HOT that it will blow you away! See, "DeBarge Time Will Reveal Collection" at Amazon for his released instrumentals.
“A Dream” is FLAWLESSLY composed. Between every chord in the progression, he leads perfectly into the next with his left-hand low-end melody, triggering the notes of the next chord and so on. It’s literally a masterclass in interaction between melody & harmony... all in one single song.
I know he's talking about El Debarge but Quik is talking about himself as well. dude is a top 5 producer but compared to Dre he doesn't get the credit.
this was early 2000s late 90s this is an old video. The person just did not post it until 2011 because that song-- Da Fam "I like" they were just starting to record at 2:26 came out in 2002.
NIGGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! U JUST MADE MY DAY!!!!!!!!!!! Nigga I Bought THis DVD IN 2003!!!!!! Been Needin To Know What This Song Was... GOOD LOOKIN HOMIE!!!!!!!!! aye I rap too click my channel... im bout to tweet quik & tell him.
“One More Chance” is one of the most notable songs by Notorious BIG. It was a sample of “Stay With Me” by Debarge. “A Dream” is another song by Debarge that was famously sampled by 2Pac and Blackstreet. Some of the most top selling songs in Hip Hop was Debarge samples.

I've never seen this side of El. I wonder if this was in that dark episode of his life. I don't like It! As much as I love El, I Don't Like it. So why do I want to see it again? Because I'm in a state of shock. REALLY!
Shannon Cunningham El grew up in the projects. He did not grow up sheltered and in the suburbs. If you watched the Unsung show about them, it was said they would fight you, if you messed with them. Secondly, El has been an addict for almost thirty years and spent many of those years on the streets associating with other junkies. There is a professional image and then you have the real person. The thing is he is a gifted musician, song writer, producer. That what we must hold onto and show our appreciation for what the DeBarges has given us. Let's us give him his flowers while he can still smell them. He deserves our love. The DeBarges deserve our love. They have given us wonderful, timeless music. Addiction is a beast. It destroys. Let not beat him down, let go of fantasies about him. He is just flesh and blood that made a bad, stupid decision which has had devastating consequences to his life. He knows the price he has paid. I want to see him win. It is not over. There is still life left. Let's encourage him to stay strong.
Shannon Cunningham you must have got the debarges are from the same town the Mayweather's are from.....Gun Ru baby!!!!! For all you lames that's Grand Rapids Michigan
Hmmm you know not to hate or sound judgmental but it seems to me like El was hanging around the wrong peeps at this point instead of working on a new joint and staying clean which is what he should have been doing. I always knew about the real so-called El and the DeBarge family so I ain't surprised at the profanity. He's just keepin it real but still tho smh. Just my opinion
