I feel the same way bcuz the couple of people in my small circle not into him like I am bcuz they're either from a different era or just not into music like that, my estranged husband was a fan of El Debarge tho, which is where it kinda all started. I always loved him and his family's music, but became an El fan when Secret Garden came out. He was so fine in that luve Soul Train performance of that song girrllll! I really did kill all of my internet data winding that video on his parts, over and over again!
Love El and I'm so glad he's back, but I hate it when ANYBODY makes skin or sex or race or religion an issue for ANYTHING!! We are ONE race, man, the HUMAN race, and we've got to all become color blind or hate will WIN! Forget what's happened in the past ... all we have is now, and we are all unique creatures of a common bond and human race! How much better would the world be if we were all blind? I think El got a little bit screwed going with Interscope. Interscope is a record company that promotes mostly young artists. El is in his 50s and is not a "spring chicken" either. They should have had El take it slow a bit so he could get used to being back in the spotlight. His Second Chance album sales were low because he ended up back in rehab a year later because he cracked under the pressure of promoting his CD and touring. El just needed to take it slow.
@DEbargelover123 Yes, I'm tired of hearing this crap everywhere the man goes someone has to comment and say he's bringing light skinned men back or him being the king of light skinned brothers. Can the Men just sing and be FINE without someone saying something about his complexion. A beautiful Men comes in many varieties. Some like to say he's bringing LS men back BUT Talented, attractive men are never out of style. I think some folks say it out of there own insecurities

We all need more than just a second chance ... love knows no limits, and the same goes for the good fight. El recently, (in Feb.), cancelled his "Intimacy" tour and appearance at the Grammy's because he relapsed and checked back into a rehab facility ... it's a fight that lasts a lifetime, folks, and it's one that requires and endless amount of patience, understanding, forgiveness, and love, in order to get to the other side of that river. @terrinyc29 i WANT to since when the shade of ones skin had to do with their musical talents and abilities. I mean like really?? EVERYTHING i hear this dark skinned light skinned it gets on my nerves. Because it very ignorant and narrow minded to say the least. And it has to be insulting to El has well for his own people to reduce him to a skin tone and not appreciate his musical gift.
And we are so much more than the color or hue of our skin. It's so unnecessary to keep bringing up El's complexion. Why does that ALWAYS have to be the first thing that is mentioned when introducing him? He is almost 60 years old now and regardless of everything he has endured, he's a fighter and keeps getting back up and trying. Plus he's still humble and sounds great!

My son has beautiful hair humble kind cool, giving Italian, blk and his othe siblings are blk plus I'm blk color dont make you its how you represent yourself and El D couldn't care less about his skin tone he's a great musical artist and i can't tell a lie i dont remember them in the 80s I was taking care of my kids they're extremely talented people.
