Elantra N in trouble?!

Today unfortunate day guys, after 2 years and almost 40k miles my Elantra N experienced check engine light and is currently in limp mode. Code P1326 appeared on the dash which is responsible for a knock sensor but car seems to drive fine except limp mode limitation which is not allowing to go above 2K rpm. I will go to the dealer soon so I can update you on what’s going on with my baby, hopefully nothing serious just faulty knock sensor 🙂

Also disconnect the battery positive post for 30 minutes. See if it will reset and clear the code until your dealer appointment.

Welcome to the club Marcin, a club you know I joined last July and you know how many times I had to go back and fourth. The first 2 resets came back after the wash and then I opened a case with Hyundai corporate and that did it, but when in the 3rd time they actually replaced the knock sensor👈 I'm here to help Marcin, maybe if I go with you they'll remember me, see me and take care of it🤔

The knock sensor has been known to fuck up during washes and go into limp mode. Im sure that’s all it is

Had the same problem, issue is the knock sensor doesn't properly have a shield/cover, so when the sensor gets wet it goes into limp mode. I was stranded on the interstate w/ my kids in the back. Wish Hyundai would address this issue. Dealer had no idea what was wrong, but cleared the code.

@@PolishBullitt Mine was in limp mode like yours. I bought a cheap $30 OBD-II reader/clearer from Amazon, so if it happens again while I'm driving I can just remove the code. Keep it in my center console.

@@PolishBullitt First time it happened I didn't have the scanner, so I had to use Bluelink, and the car to be towed to the dealership. I have the scanner now so if it happens in the future I won't be stranded. ;)

@LeftenantMalachi now I did this after the 2nd time and when it happened the 3rd time I cleared it and it came back on in about 20 seconds...then they replaced the knock sensor and it's all good!

If it's the knock sensor I bet when you take it in they are just going to reset it and tell you just to bring it back if it does it again. If that's the case you could just reset it yourself if you Have the scanner or any auto parts store like autozone can reset it for free. But of course always best to have the dealership take a look anyway

My friend he got my scanner so will see maybe I can do it myself and see if it comes back, honestly car seems to be in good condition drives normally up to 2k rpm lol

Sucks you had to drive all the way down there for nothing bro. Years ago I bought a car from sherman dodge not to far away from there (Skokie). Bad service to. Looks like all the dealerships around that area are terrible 😂. Learned my lesson real quick and now I look at reviews and forums. Haven't been steered wrong since. Hope Hyundai helps you out. Meantime if you need a scanner let me know. I have a extra basic one just sitting here collecting dust.

Thanks brother haha I will have a basic scanner tonight but I think I will try to reset the code tomorrow morning. Freaking weather in Chicago raining since I got here Wednesday 🫤

@PolishBullitt Tell me about it. Talking about depressing lol. I heard we're not going to see the sun until Monday. At least the temperature isn't bad. Feels like summer for us outside hahaha. Let us know if clearing the code worked and made everything go back ro normal. Curious about that.

I wonder if this a problem more with the 2022 model? I have never experienced this issue with my 2023 and I pressure wash the motor and thru the front grill all the time when I wash it. Either way I am sure it will be covered under warranty Brother 🙂 👍

@@PolishBullitt That's weird I would think that if it is an issue with the knock sensor getting wet because it has no protection than it would no different from one car to another. Remember you washed it before you left to Miami and then left it in the cold for a week or so. 🤔

Is your car a 22? I still have fears of my 23 going through that same problem (fortunately at the moment the car is fine and has survived all washes. Hopefully you fix it but watch out for the dealers. I heard Hyundai dealers in the US at least is kind of meh, over here in Canada dealers are pretty honest with their business.

It’s not piggybacks fault car was totally fine and I haven’t even used my piggyback lately except dyno, we had really bad weather lately and I took my car to the car wash right before I left it for over week and a half. Car is in limp mode at the moment but it drives fine no roughness or nothing just limited power due to the limp mode

Mine is July 2022. No issues yet. Only low tire pressure code due to colder weather, which was easily remedied. The dealerships over in nyc are so trash, man. I'm even afraid of them changing my oil!

Power wise I got Stillen catback exhaust and a piggyback, other then that I have a boomba bov and powerflex bushings for the wheel hop and different lighter wheels for summer 🙂

Better hope nobody at other dealer watches your videos. You installed that piggy back whatever. They will look for any reason to deny your claim under warranty. That’s why if you screw around never make videos of you doing it and post on line for all to see…

Normally the issue is cause of a car wash, the knock sensor would get wet but it was a free easy fix at the dealer. Car never had any knock

@ryansviews it’s located somewhere under intake manifold, that you would have to take off to see it from what I know
