Always and forever, thank you to Great Britain and the British people whose creativity, since the 1960s, has given the rest of the World hundreds of unique bands such as the Elastica and music of unparalleled beauty, quirkiness and atmosphere. What would our lives have been without British bands? Thank you from Sicily. And love, admiration and adoration.
@@casaraku1 And we had drive in theaters, arcades, musicians that play instruments instead of check boxes in a UI, and were in way better shape as we played outside instead of slumped behind a Warcraft login screen...
Definitely fans of punk rock. And remember the accusations of plagiarism from bands like Wire or The Stranglers against Elastica. And "Stutter" also sounds like as if the band has used some riffs from Criminal Class, an early 80s punk/oi! band from Coventry.
I remember seeing this band on MTV when I was 13 and I was immediately in love. It's the buzzcocks, Stranglers, and perfect new wave. I was enamored by Justine. She captured everything I ever understood about music. So good.
This incredible video was filmed in San Francisco in 1995 by David Mould. I watched them film it for a couple hours. God the '90s were awesome. She liked America and eventually ended up moving near SF. Now she's a painter.
She looks like the kinda chick who could kick your ass without ever putting out her cigarette and make you enjoy every fucking second of it. Definitely my kinda chick.
I was in my twenties in the 80s, it was my era. There was a lot of good music around too ... but I'm inclined to agree with u Andrea - The v.best music came out in the 60s,70s & 90s. ;)
When I was a young lad in my mid 20s, I was in a bar band that had this song on our playlist, and at gigs where we’d play this song, as soon as the final guitar chord rang out, I’d start back up with the intro riff and we’d play the song all over again, because I’d always notice people in the crowd rockin’ out to it - and I didn’t want that to end… so I’d intentionally get the band to play it twice in one shot! I hadn’t thought about this song for almost 30 years, and it was killing me because it was such a good song and I didn’t know the lyrics… so after a good amount of googling… here I am!
@Goggle products It isn't. She's not a transvestite. I agree with the point/s that you go on to mention. Yet, she isn't. That's where I don't get you making this point here and now.
They played their entire set. The lights did not come up. And then it was announced that Elastica would come out and play Stutter again for their video. It was June 4th, 1995 in Minneapolis. And, yes that is my arm if you pause the video at exactly 16.
Hope you get better. Read and sincerely believe 1 Corinthians 15 1-4' GOspel of Grace for true salvation. Faith/Belief in what those scriptures say plus nothing, to be saved.
SAME! Watching this video really brings me right back to being in my 20s in the 90s,living in downtown San Francisco, and walking around North Beach and Chinatown with my friends and boyfriend at the time. It really was the best
Fantastic 90’s UK music and video! They capture that time. (“Have you found a new mate and is she really great?...Is is just that I’m much too much for you?”) I hope that Justine, Annie, Justin and Donna are all having great lives post Elastica.
No need to whine boy Like a wind up toy, you stutter at my feet And it's never the time boy You've had too much wine to stumble up my street Well, it isn't a problem Nothing we can't keep between the sheets Tell me you're mine love And I will not wait for other bedtime treats Is there something you lack When I'm flat on my back? Is there something that I can do for you? It's always something you hate Or it's something you ate Tell me, is it the way that I touch you? Have you found a new mate And is she really great? Is it just that I'm much too much for you? Oh, oh, oh ho Don't feed me a lie boy I can hear that voice you use upon the phone And there's no need to be coy That is something you can do upon your own Well, it isn't a problem Nothing we can't solve, so just relax Am I on the wrong train, love And will I have to tie you to the tracks? Is there something you lack When I'm flat on my back? Is there something that I can do for you? It's always something you hate Or it's something you ate Tell me, is it the way that I touch you? Have you found a new mate And is she really great? Is it just that I'm much too much for you? Oh, oh, oh ho I really want you to, oh, oh, oh ho I really want you to oh, oh, oh ho
I saw them in Vancouver at The Vogue in 95'. Might have been 96'. It was awesome. So much fun. To be 19 again. I would do it all over again at the drop of a hat for sure. The 90s were the best.
Ah, this song reminds me SO much of living in SF in the 1990's. This entire video was filmed in North Beach, just a few blocks from where I worked, in the "Barbary Coast" neighborhood. I could probably pick out the exact camera location in every shot. Good times!
Man, the drummer just rips! One of my faves... (Yes, it brings back memories. Yes, I haunted those streets, at that time, dressed kinda' like that. It was the best.)
best song on one of the greatest albums in pop history. you think im exaggerating? listen to this album. start to finish every single song could be a hit that carry's its own album in the charts.
@@soyuzdavillan721 unless your doing coke with your heroin i find that difficult to believe. But maybe you're only doing small amounts of H. If you're doing a gram or more a day cumming is very difficult to do, almost pointless even trying.
the drummer of Elastica, Justin Welch was in a band with Blur's bassist: Alex James, and past member of Duran Duran: Stephen Duffy named "Me Me Me" back in 1996 :)
I listened to this whole cd over and over for house on the first long road trip I had to take alone. I have been racking my brain for years trying to figure out what album it was. Such great energy!
I wasn't even alive in 1995. But I have enough sense in me that I can find awesome music, I'm in love with old grunge/punk bands, like Elastica, Garbage, and Nirvana (but who doesn't love Nirvana.) All in all, it's what you like, and what gives you belonging.
It truly made my day to here this song on the radio yesterday. I grew up in the 90s and think Elastica was super underrated as Brit-pop bands go. Funny how the feeling a song gives us can change over time. This song first came out around when I was just starting to be romantically attracted to the opposite sex and it just sounded like a breakup song back then. Now that I am 40 and married it makes me recall the relationships I had in my teens and 20s and that sort of nervous second-guessing of yourself and self-examination that happens when it becomes clear a relationship is not going to last long-term. Like, what did I do wrong here?
I remember a story about her walking around in her apartment naked with the curtains open and the neighborhood men standing outside her place for the ‘show’.
San Francisco in 1994. I never thought I would be nostalgic over 1994. I am. Between this and "When I come around" by Green Day,you can feel that SF breeze in the evenings. Can't you?
From the first time I heard Elastica I loved them. I was huge into the Modern Rock during the late 80's and early 90's! They had such an amazing sound. It also didn't hurt that little 12-13 year old me was practically in love with every woman in the band! Hell I didn't find out until yesterday that the lead singer had been part of the band Suede! I never got into them but I knew of them lol. There were so many amazing bands during this time but that was the problem. There were way to many bands and not enough fame to go around.
2021 and this video is still stylish AF. Justine then would look super cool now. In headphones, it's interesting and cool how lo-fi the production is. Fantastic lost single.
