Elbit Systems Debuts Crossbow Next Generation Turreted Mortar System at DSEI LONDON 2023.
The automatic mortar system was developed by Elbit Systems' Land under an Israel Defense Force contract and is MIL-STD-810G compliant.
The Crossbow system has a capability of shooting the first round in less than 30 seconds, has a maximum rate of ten rounds per minute with a sustained rate of fire of six rounds per minute, with a short sensor-to-shooter circle. It can fire a variety of munitions including the Iron Sting guided mortar munition providing effective range of up to 10 kilometers. No indexing loading is required for the Crossbow turret and it has the capability of 360 degree infinite pivot.
Designed for UT-120m turrets, it can be integrated onto 6X6, 8X8 wheeled platforms and tracked vehicles as well as stationary platforms. This makes Crossbow fully compatible with existing NATO ammunition requirements. The Crossbow is fitted with a computerized fire control system, a land navigation system and can be operated in a GPS denied environment.

The 120mm breech-loaded gun-mortar is such an important system. "Blue Team" is 40 years behind the Soviets, but better late than never. Autoloading systems are going to converge upon a dual feed model, where one side feeds from a hopper of the main HE/HEAT ammo, & the other side feeds similarly from a hopper of the secondary ammo, or else there is a more complicated system able to select from multiple ammo types, including tube-launched ATGMs & even SAMs. GJ Elbit, keep progressing! o/

We already use Elbit Cardom 10, mounted in Piranha 5, on battalion level. But a section of these, would be perfect for our mechanised infantry companies. To take out fortifications with its direct fire capability.

It’d be nice to trade in my Honda for this, lot of features my Accord doesn’t have. That 120mm motor, that would be nice in direct fire to clear traffic. Plus the ability to hit targets miles away! I can’t imagine why I’d need it but it’s nice to know I’d have the capability. A fully transversal turret, I don’t even have a turret😢

NEMO can do indirect fire on the move and needs no setup at all so it definitely still has advantages over this. All this really brings to the table is a coaxial weapon which isn't the most useful thing on a mortar carrier and the ability to load at any turret position, but that doesn't seem to increase its fire rate compared to the NEMO if the 6-10 RPM figure is correct. And if you really need a machine gun the NEMO turret can be fitted with a remote weapon station which is probably a better solution for a mortar carrier anyway.

O que diferencia é o carregamento automático. Diferentes dos concorrentes. A Finlandesa Patria tem o Nemo, um modelo que pode ser montado em carros blindados e barcos rápidos. Mais o reabastecimento da munição é feito por um militar. É excelente também 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾

Crossbow does not exist, nor autoloader system for it. These are just 3D animations.

The autoloader is a more complex thing with mortars, as the charge bags for each shell are located around the stem of the tail, and they have to be adjusted individually for every indirect fire firemission. So, even in the presence of an autoloader, the autoloader has to have its magazine loaded for every firemission by hand.

I guess not, as the charge bags have to be adjusted by hand for every firemission. There's just an autoloader for the prepared ammunition, so the gunner/assistant gunner prepares the shells for every firemission and loads them to the magazine of the autoloader.

The vehicle should have laser designator so 120mm LAHAD ATGM could be launched from the gun? The vehicle may encounter a tank on his way to its duty and return from duty. With its 8kg explosive, LAHAD destroys a tank.

LAHAT. This vehicle shouldn’t encounter tanks. It’s not meant to. It should be supported by other vehicles. Even then, a120mm mortar is heavier, and can fire as far or further.

@@yenihesap4090self-defence, I'd guess. It'd be useful in crisis management/counter-insurgency operations as a direct fire support/assault gun kind of thing.
