I think you're over exaggerating and/or are forgetting about and/or I've been out of the game too long, but there's still "shrapnel" in the game. When was (and it wouldn't surprise me if you said too long to remember) the last time you used either the frag grenade or the anti-personnel mines? Both send out a confetti of shrapnel, but you can't get them to armor bug chargers armor. That's why I don't attribute the Eruptor's shrapnel neutering to the armor bug, but to ricochet. The Eruptor, from my experience, wasn't doing the 1 shot killing to chargers as consistently until they introduced ricochet. Once they added ricochet, that's when chargers were dying from 1 shot more consistently AND divers were getting insta-killed by some unseen force after firing their Eruptor, which was later contributed to OP shrapnel. To me, it'd make sense that they couldn't get the programing correct for ricochet and some how the shrapnel from the Eruptor's shot counted as "ricochet bullets" but it some how compounded the damage per shrapnel that was always generated, making each fragment stupidly over powered. It doesn't completely clear any Litmus test as the shrapnel wasn't 1 shotting everything it came into contact with, but it does seem weirdly coincidental that once ricochet was added the Eruptor's shrapnel started causing problems that both the frag grenade's and anti-personnel mines' shrapnel don't. Maybe they've removed all shrapnel, but last I knew the frag grenade fragged and the anti-personnel mine tossed a bit of shrapnel out from it.

AMR should have heavy armor penetration. The heavy machine gun should have heavy armor penetration. EMANCIPATOR should have heavy armor penetration. The flamethrower should have heavy armor penetration. Make the support weapons feel Powerful! Like they said primaries should be there to clear chaff.

They could make the guns good and crank up the difficulty with spawn rate adjustments and what types of enemies spawn But instead they just neuter every gun so they feel unimpactful then gaslight you

Do you actually believe that? Increasing spawn rates indefinitely would also start straining the consoles and computers running the game. For the love of democracy it's trying to find balance not endless power creep

@@fernandoruiz4963 The problem is that nothing is fun for 99.99% of the playerbase. When they find something that gives them enough breathing room to make mistakes and learn how the game works, it becomes fun. When weapons do what intuition believes those weapons should do, it becomes fun. Its not about oneshotting a charger with a pistol. If I throw an anti-tank at a charger head, reasonably, that charger should be dead. EAT, RR, Quasar, whatever, it should be dead. That is what intuition tells us. Further, intuition also tells us that anti tank against the butt should also kill. Because thats the unarmored part of the bug. But it doesn't. It just isn't fun because nothing makes sense and it feels bad to play.

OhDough is absolutely on the mark: antitank should deal with tank-type enemies as a hard counter. The Spear at the very least should always oneshot anything smaller than a Factory Strider (yes that includes Bile Titans and Impalers). No more "pray you hit the weakpoint" bullcrap; it's modeled after the IRL Javelin that disables/destroys MBTs in a single shot, and nothing in HD2 except maybe the Factory Strider is more heavily armored than an MBT.

Then play the lower difficulties without the rocket devestators. The problem with alot of you guys is you are playing a difficulty well above your skill and instead of going down, you are complaining at devs to make the rocket devestators easier for you. I haven't had problems with rocket devestators for months. You do realise you can tap their shoulder mounter rocket pods off with a few shots right? There are support weapons that wipe them out without even having to hit their heads. Outside of a skill issue, im not sure why you are complaining.

@@TrixterTheFemboy But that is not what it does. You can't make an explosion only explode in one direction, that violates the laws of physics. You can focus part of the explosion into a beam, but you can't make the explosion going the other way go away or magically turn around.

The devs dont actually need to be able to best their own games. The basics they need to begin with are eliminating bugs and mechanics that make things feel less fair. Once the game works, then you can improve upon it, but HD2 was not supposed to be in early access so this finding the heart of their game after launch thing is problematic.

@@GnarledStaff but the basic mechanic of spawning in more numbers (which btw is only accepted here in this genre, anywhere else this would be called artificial difficulty in most cases), and then seeing the devs struggle with said basic mechanic really paints a picture they are not on the same wavelength as their playerbase. and this is a problem.

he was right from the get go because he has seen the same thing happen in apex, it's in one of his first videos about the railgun nerf, where he basically spoke out how the nerf was undeserved for the weapons, since it wasn't op if the bug had been fixed. considering charger spam, it's almost like the devs want us to drown in bugs as we keep getting our reliable shit nerfed over and over, just not making a horde SHOOTER fun.

I actually agree somewhat with Maples point of view about the Incen shotgun, it was wrecking lower and mid difficulties. 2-3 people with Incen could wipe out a bug breach or an entire field of bugs easily. Everyone would just bring launchers and/or flamer for chargers and titans (from difficulty 6 onwards). The game is not balanced on solo plays but on 4, maybe 3, player teams. The nerf of the magazines was stupid though. Swap damage of the spray n pray n Incen like thicc said, would be a better nerf.

The part where OhDough talks about resupply really worries me because by nerfing the ammo capacity of the weapons (which is totally bs), we'll see more and more players who will use resupply just for themselves and this will lead to everyone taking the resupply backpack all the time or taking weapons with infinite ammo. And this is way worse than just a meta because it directly impacts the comfort of the player.

The problem with the flamethrower charger damage nerf is that there IS NO OTHER support weapon in the game that can deal with 5+ charger behemoths at close range. The rest of the anti-armor weapons are designed to work at medium or long range. You cannot even finish your reload when you have chargers on you. And all your stratagems have a hard rate limit for how many chargers they can actually kill. Overpowered or no, dealing with excessive charger overrun was a ROLE that the flamethrower filled, and kept your team from just being run over endlessly. Now everyone is forced to bring anti-armor instead of the (IMO) more fun horde clearing weapons. Edit: Another possible solution to charger spam is being able to team reload a recoilless or spear user with their own backpack.

There really isn't a close-combat anti-heavy option, which I think there should be. Thermite could fill this role, but it is rather buggy/unreliable against chargers, hulks, and titans. Arc Thrower could fill this role in a limited way, but it needs some help to do so. Anti-tank mines should be an excellent anti-charger stratagem with lots of value, but chargers (and tanks) randomly ignore the damage from it...does feel super good when they die to 2 mines.

I just realized that teamloading is the counter to this. The game is designed for 2 players to focus AT. I think that works fine in milsim games where the squad is built around a single support weapon, but a 4 man group against a horde has a different balance. If people played the game as intended it would work, but its not necessarily fun as intended…

@@GnarledStaff Problem is, you can’t really afford to lose your backpack if you and the other person get separated by chargers and impalers. Which is why you should be able to team reload someone else with their _own_ ammo backpack.

One point I want to address is that I feel like many nerfs have been easy solutions to bugs that have been in the game. Railgun/ark trower nerf(been killing bile titans to fast because of the crossplay bug). Errupter nerf( could one shot a charger because the leg bug. Oneshot teammates because of a reflektion bug) Flame trower( they most likely didn't want to deal with changing the coding of the new flame trowers. So they just adjusted the support weapon to the primary weapon) If you know more examples of this. Please add them here. I would love to see this hunch. ^^

It is simply very true. An unintentional one is the Patriot Exosuit. Bug made it so it blew itself off, now it just shoots incorrectly/inacurrately.

I think ThiccFilA hit it in their own video. The developers are pursuing a vision, but the vision they're pursuing is not the reality of the game nor is it what players want or what made it so successful. If you look back at some of the more defensive comments ('A game for everyone is a game for no one') this makes sense. I believe that the intention is that the satire shine through - the developers want to lampshade the notion of power, of jingoistic braggadicio. When a helldiver screams FOR SUPER EAAARRTHHH it's keyed to how long you've been holding down the fire button, not the impact that you're having. It's supposed to be a JOKE, the juxtaposition of the Super Earthian ego and the reality of them getting shellacked in a war and only winning by pouring more bodies onto the problem. The whole process of individually freezing and unfreezing helldivers is meant to conceal from them and the public just how expendable they are, and how not-special they are. The problem is, Art Pieces rarely make for fun games. People flocked to this game because they ACCIDENTALLY stumbled upon a real power fantasy, and Arrowhead unintentionally hit an untapped zeitgeist. Before this, most horde shooters were about being tacticool and sweaty and emphasizing your vulnerability - which seems to be what Arrowhead WANTS. But instead people found a game where THEY are the raid boss.

i agree but also disagree , art pieces make amazing games , thing is these art pieces games are not for everyone , example can be death stranding , absolutely game not for everyone but its most quality game i played in recent years. would i recomend it to everyone no , just like i would not recomend factorio , or space station 14 to everyone , arrow head accidently tapped into horde shoter audience , but they want to make game like red solstice/red solstice 2 , and also red solstice devs not mass nerfed stuff , but rather made every weapon be relialable for role it feels reason i dont play helldivers is 2/3 of weapons are not relialable so people flock and use only weapons who work , who is not how you really should ever balance any videogame thing is that ship have sailed and HD2 cant be the game they want anymore due they tapped into wider audience , them not accepting this only makes it worse experience for everyone becouse they will make players unhappy , who in turn will get unhappy and harrass mods/discord/devs

I get a good laugh out of being ragdolled, but on 8 and above it's a whole different thing. The frequency of rockets is so high you may actually be tossed around for a good 30-40 seconds if you can survive that long, and it can happen any time, from around cover.

@@FrozenByFire3 I don't struggle with it that much myself, but I'll point out a flaw with that plan: against Bots you are almost never being attacked from only one angle. You've got to get as close as possible to whatever cover you have, or you'll be shot from the sides. But the real issue people are referring to when they say "around cover" wasn't that a missile hit the cover and ragdolled them, it's that the Bot misses completely and hits the ground somewhere past the cover... which ragdolls you do to the radius of the blast. It can be frustrating to be impacted more by an errant shot than by the rockets being aimed right at you. Backing up won't save you in that situation, it can even make it more likely you'll be ragdolled. Sometimes hugging a rock is the only way to avoid it. In other words, damned if you do and damned if you don't

@@Pyromaniac77777 well yeah, you'll get ragdolled eventually, and if you play your cards right, very often you won't get flanked from all sides. Check my latest solo helldive 0 deaths on my channel. It was sloppy AF, yet I didn't get ragdolled much, and surely didn't get constantly ragdolled. I think I've been in a ragdoll loop like 4-5 times in my 300 hours, 250 of those hours being against automatons lol.

@@FrozenByFire3 there is always an amount of "get good" to this. What I'm attempting to convey is that if the bot misses you and that's what does you in, that's not fun for the player. You can't predict where the bots will miss, (actually I can because I'm autistic and it's pattern recognition, hence not my problem per say) and you don't want an accident to be the end of you unless it was your accident.

An interesting counter to ragdolls would be to let players "tech" the impact like in fighting games: if I time my space bar input on a specific window when I hit the ground, I can push myself up instantly. like catching your own fall

OhDough’s channel has really evolved in the best of ways. His critiques of HD2 were always on point, but as he said, his deliveries weren’t always on point, turning some people off. Even back then, I got past that, just because his discussions have always been extremely correct, but with his new attitude, dude’s channel deserves to explode.

@@drb0mb I would challenge you to think a bit more critically about what Dough actually says, because I can agree that especially with his early stuff, it can sound a bit whiny, but if you can get past that, it’s all extremely well thought through. This is a guy who doesn’t just frivolously complain. I genuinely believe that he takes his job seriously-his job being to play the game, analyze it, and give a useful opinion on why it isn’t working the way thousands and thousands of people want it to

I usually play difficulty level 7 because it requires skill but isn’t so hard that it makes it unfun. The difficulty of level 7 now feels like level 9 pre-release.

Not a chance. Level 9 launch had 5+ biles during breaches. 7 spawns 1 or 2 now.

​@@yarguswhetz it really is quite variable now. I have played tier 6 maps where I've had consistent bile titan spawns and seen 5+ during extract where it feels like an old tier 8 maybe not a 9. I play difficulties across the board and see huge differences in difficulty now which makes it harder to pick your dive experience

An adjustment to after when you get Rag- dolled could be press a button to get back up to your feet but press no input and your character stays in prone position. This would help to avoid the next salvo.

Once upon a time, there was a small restaurant that offer spicy foods. Even though the food was spicy, it also have levels of spicy and home-made drinks to help with the heat so different people can enjoy it. The food was beautifully presented, the staff was warm and welcoming, and the prices were reasonable. As word spread, the restaurant's popularity skyrocketed, eventually overwhelming its capacity. The owner, recognizing this, asked people to return later, promising that they would hire more staff to accommodate the growing crowd. However, the restaurant's design presented some challenges. So for some time they changed the recipe of the home-made drinks so that much better to refresh the palate. And after a long break, the restaurant announced a big update with the current menu, and adding a higher level of spice. The customers was hyped about it as they want to try more things as the menu have not been updated for awhile. When the date finally came, instead of the new offers of the menu, they are disappointed as the best-selling drink are now serve in much smaller size, and that the incoming drinks are now serve without ice/ or cold. Many the customers are upset that they feedback are one again ignored. The owner justified that because of the 30% of the order is the best-selling drinks, so they want the customer to try more items, that why they reduce the portion size, thinking it will encourage people to try something new. He also said that the chef is disappointed that they put a lot of work on the new items in the menu and all people talk about is the smaller portion of a drink or in facts that drinks are now not come with ice anymore. The regular customers are now arguing with each other, some wanted to defend the restaurant, while others are no longer interested as their voices are ignored.

A few thoughts - the first of which is that OhDough is (to me) the most on point with the wider held feelings of the players in not only this discussion, but many of his own HD2 content. Secondly, HD2 has suffered a huge dropoff in player base - and more than it would or should have under normal circumstances. This *was* the type of game that many players early found attractive because they saw it as "the one game they play", meaning the "only game they play". They sought progression, and believed the game to have a promising future. Instead, HD2 feels more like a broken promise to them, and it's become consistently inconsistent in making baffling balancing decisions. For those who are "I only have time for one game, and I want the game to be an ongoing enjoyable and progression oriented experience", they lost faith and moved on. Those people are gone, and most likely never coming back. Even the content creators have moved on to a degree, and are doing work on other content *because* HD2 is not seen as the cream of the crop which rises above. It's on par with many, and "less than" other games which - if they had the huge start HD2 had combined with their own balancing and gameplay decisionmaking - would have been even bigger. HD2 could have been huge - and sustained the enthusiasm to present day - if they took a long look philosophically at the direction they are going. Instead, it seems stubborn and quietly dismissive of the customers. The vast majority of players left now, not all but many, are bouncing between games or only coming back to HD2 during major updates - when this game had the promise of being "the one game to play, and the only game you really want to play and git gud at" to an absolutely broken promise.

I am honestly just amazed at the utter incompetence on display from the balance team. 90% of the weapons, stratagems, and armors are not worth using, with 70% of them being pure trash or utterly useless. Even from a purely numbers/spreadsheet perspective, most of the weapons, and many of the strats, make absolutely no sense in relationship to each other. Every update just seems to make the game more and more shit, as they keep nerfing the decent weapons into the ground while simultaneously buffing the enemies, often with increasingly cheesy mechanics.

In a four player game, you need 2 players who have a meta loadout. But you can sneak in weird stuff as the third or fourth player- eagle smoke, Tesla towers, Blitzer. We've all seen people own why this stuff. The problem, though, is that you _must_ have a powerful anchor: autocannon, rockets, HMG, punisher, scorcher, incendiary breaker. It's one of weird how your required to bring eagle bombs to every mission.

@@wolfumzthis is also a big problem with the online discussion around this game. If two players are carrying the team the other two can bring whatever they want, do whatever they want, rack up 10 deaths by the end up the match with only 50 kills and zero objectives completed and they’ll still think they played well. I’ve had players accuse me of team killing while I was on the other side of the map… while on helldive. The highest difficulties somewhat alleviate this problem since poor players will still drag their team down but good enough players can pretty much solo the map in spite of a bad team leaving the rest of the team assuming they performed better than they did.

lemme que you in on a fun build i came up with: take armor that protects against explosives for bots (for obvious reasons) then: crossbow, flamer secondary, and stun for stratas: ballistic shield backpack, a support weapon that deals with hulks, and one strat for factory striders and one for chaff clearing or for utility (orbital/eagle smoke) the scorcher (i think that's the secondary flamer) is surprisingly good against the bot drops that put out the chaff and chicken walkers, as it has medium penetration, and the damage and DOT is nothing to scoff at for such a small weapon. hell, i THINK i even took out a tank with it once, because of the med armor pen i was able to cook that grill on the back

What helldivers really needs is a better end game progression. Other than the major order and the 2 or 3 days that a war bond will last you every few weeks there’s nothing tangible to work towards. Sample upgrades take to long and they’re more of a background thing. Same goes for major orders and you can’t really control them. We need like a perk tree, more cosmetics that you unlock. A new currency, something to spend slips on

I think Arrowhead should give us option to remain prone after ragdoll. We are already on the ground, allow us to remain so, we can stim or at least not be throws so far by next ragdoll. Maybe a toggle like with auto-climb. Definitely for Bot side. I find it very bad then when I'm already prone, I get a tiny ragdoll and stand up - why ...

Yeah, I agree, I just stopped fighting bots for now and the instant standup has only really helped with with bugs since I'm not going to be taking 600 rockets every 3 seconds.

im sick of people saying to just play at lower difficulties as if one of the few ways of progressing in the game isn't through the difficulties. the game locks off higher levels until you complete a full operation of the difficulty before it. don't act like playing at 7, 8, 9 isn't where the majority of players are. only new players are in the earlier difficulties. our arsenal shouldn't be balanced around the literal beginning of the game

I used to run 7s mainly for super samps and that that level still allows for the genocidal playstyle I prefer. Now that I have every upgrade I just chill on 6 90% of the time. The highest difficulties can be tedious for me with the relentless pacing and so much running for such long missions. 6 allows for a lot more freedom in the loadout without being detrimental to the team.

@@TheMarineten fair enough, but they're based on horror and stealth, unlike Helldivers 2, which is a SHOOTER, not a horror, a walking sim or stealth. If someone wants to say that stealth is a part of HD2, I can say that it's not. It's not because stealth in this game is broken, you are either not in a combat, or in it, there is no real stealth killing. You definitely can kill a troop without getting detected, but I think you have to headshot it or generally one-shot it, or everything in 50-meter range knows that you're there and can see you even behind walls :^)

I do play the game thank you, 230 hours actually but I don't want multiples, I want one of them and specially the one that doesn't have heavy armor pen. Decrease the mag and it would be fine as the chaff killers they are without having to waste a stratagem slot. The stalwart and the medium machine gun literally have the same utility except one can reload while moving. There's no reason or need for there to be 3 machine gun support weapons. Also if they buff the assault rifles there will be many other options but also though shut up. I'm looking for more ways to up the fun in this game because there's literally only like 8 viable primaries and people take the support machine guns and use them more as a primary anyways. Do YOU play the game?

​@@viktoriyaserebryakov2755if they actually buffed the ARs proper, like they made them like they were in HD1 (10 mags, at least 60 bullets, 1 shots chaff), then yeah, you could make the stalwart a primary. 3 mags, 200 each. 600 bullets. Same as that 10 mags of 60. We can't have it rn because of the current state of balance for primaries. But I can definitely see where this person is coming from. And the stalwart is way overshadowed by other MGs anyways.

If the devs just PLAYED THEIR OWN GAME they would instantly know that the incendiary breaker gets picked because of the insane number of hunters thrown at you at higher levels. It's a gun specialized to deal with that enemy type, and if you don't bring something to deal with hunters, you are big screwed.

Personally I am a huge purifier fan. It is my personal dream gun but it hits like a slower plas punisher. I had an idea of it having 3 level charges, all the same time. The first one is what it does now. The second one would have like 50% more splash radius and same dmg. And the third one would do double damage. So you can choose whether you want to charge it up and annihilate something from across the map or shoot faster in some scenarios. I think thats pretty balanced considering you would have to charge it like 3 times longer but shoot really strong

The ragdolls in this game is Fing excessive. Even i could recover faster!!! The bile spewer mortars have been insanely accurate!!! And with how tanky they are and how they can come in snall armies, it's ridiculous. I don't know a single a living creature that likes being burned alive, explain AH. Yeah, they did stealth nerf Super Credit acquisition.

Here's the biggest problem: the devs don't know what they want the game to be. It currently *is* a horde shooter. They talk about it being a mil-sim or a souls-like, but neither of those are compatible with a horde shooter.

Man, the last thing I want to play a coop souls like. This is a team based hoard shooter, where, at higher difficulty levels, you must cooperate with your team on loudout to win. There are informal classes. Maybe it'd be nice to make then more formal. I thoroughly beat Elden Ring, and when the DLC came out, I loaded it up, thought about the ocean of pain I would be swimming in, and closed the game after five minutes. Great game, but I am in no mood.

there is a difference between hard and unfair. not having the tools, having slow clucky weak weapons, getting one shotted while at full hp while in heavy armor from a bot like 200m away or from a bug behind a rock impaling you from underneath, getting hit causing you to bounce around helplessly between other attacks unable to react. this stuff doesn't make the game "hard" it makes the game unfair. a hard challenge is fun but getting hit once then watching yourself get tossed around for a 30-60 seconds till you die isn't fun. i want the game to be hard but i don't want to feel like I'm constantly getting cheated due to things that shouldn't happen. weapons are weak and aiming is slow due to drift so while i have to aim all my shots to hit a weakpoint the bots can hit you anywhere and make you completely reset your aim and wait for that drift to slowly move back to where you are aiming. give me hard missions but give me the tools to fight back

I don't even think the flamethrower was that good at killing chargers. You have to be very close, you often get ragdolled, and the slow swing speed makes it hard to aim for the legs while it's moving. It took skill to do this, (or maybe stun grenades, but I've only just unlocked those) What it did do was let you kill multiple chargers, which is a really big deal when you get swarms of the things

The flamethrower was only good at dealing with Chargers if you used stun grenades. Now the weapon is completely useless for both crowd control and dealing with heavies. The flamethrower was gutted by Arrowhead’s incompetence.

The emotion AH is evoking in HD2 rn is disappointment. I had a lot of fun prior to this recent update, but now I find it more of a job/grind. They won’t care if I stop playing, but I imagine I’m not alone in feeling disillusioned. I have over 380 hours in HD2, & I swear my character is slower now. Speed is what I enjoyed playing HD2

@@core101171 The first game was is often said to be well balanced, there are good lessons to be taken from it. The stalward was a primary weapon with 75 rounds that could be upgraded to 150 rounds, according to the wiki. Thats a good primary, which is what HD2 lacks.

A few things IMO: 1- Their efforts to make it so one gun isn't the META like the Railgun was have done the opposite of their intention. They've nerfed every fun support to the point that the only reliable one is the Autocannon. We've come full circle just with a different gun and less people having fun. 2- The game feels like a job to get upgrades. The sample reward I get does not justify the effort I put in to get them. And the upgrades don't feel worth the time investment. I really feel like either the cost should go down or the sample quantity should go up. Most people playing the game play it casually, they aren't content creators with a ton of time. So if they're going to nerf stuff and add it as an upgrade then they should really consider that most of their players are just going to be sitting with a nerf for a while trying to scrounge up the resources to un-nerf themself. That's bad. You're creating a problem nobody asked for and telling players to grind for a fix. 3- The game kinda leaves behind anyone who isn't a sweatlord/lady. It would really help if there was something like DRG's material exchange so less skilled players can still get the later rewards without being forced to play higher difficulties they won't find enjoyable. It's also help casual players who don't have as much time still get the new stuff. As it is, if you don't devote time like a job and aren't good enough to play the higher tiers then you're just left behind. 4- Balance sucks in it. If they wanted to be like a souls game then they've missed the point. Those games let you make busted builds (not bell and parry busted, that gets nerfed but was honestly deserved lol). The beam takes investment and setup and they've let you be rewarded with the damage. Giant Dad took time and investment. They need to not fear a META arising and instead focus on making other fantasies and playstyles fun so people don't feel forced to use the META. 5- Honestly, I think they should just embrace the goofyness. See what people are loving and try to make it better. It LOOKED like that's what the fire bond was for: People vocalized loving the flamethrower so they made a pack for it. But they nerfed fire first and killed the fun before it. So they defeated themselves. If they BUFFED player fire and released the pack then people would be losing their minds. It would build hype. Instead we're sitting here with the assumption that if we have fun with something or if Arrowhead says anything about a weapon it will get nerfed. That's horrible. People want to have a laser light show? Let them! Maybe buff the damage of the scythe, make the sickle actually shoot lasers, keep the ignition bug, make the laser cannon break armor under sustained fire, reduce the cooldown on the quasar. Let people enjoy the fantasy. People want to be tech palpatine? Let them! Add more arc weapons, maybe add the railgun's safety feature to the arc thrower so players can toggle to a risky alt fire that returns it to the pre-nerf range and damage, or one that just shoots continuous arcs in a cone, an arc backpack, arc guard dog, SOMETHING. Change the armor they added to buff the player, no enemies use arc and hardly anyone is running arc with their buddies getting shot enough for the perk to make sense. People like playing stealth rambo? Fix the psychic enemies and add tools for those players to sneak and have fun. People like plasma guns? You get the point lol. The tone of the marketing and the fanbase they've gained don't match what they're doing and someone seriously needs to sit them down and go: either change the marketing and make it very clear what game you want or change what you're doing to fit the people you've got playing. If they want a hard shooter souls then they need to change their marketing to reflect that and make it clear upfront. Nobody likes seeing ads that suggest fun shooter, see the upgrade previews that show fun potential and good damage, then play and it's gimped. Not fun for anyone.

Nerfs are the talk of the town but good god, Arrowhead needs to address the stability of this game. It’s a crash fiesta. My last 5 missions, 3 crashed. It’s really annoying especially when it happens at the end of the game just before extract where you have tons of samples. This game was stable at lunch and but consistently crashed when they began updating it. It’s been months but Arrowhead have yet to be able to stop the crashing. It’s really frustrating

Honestly, if they let me team reload while the person with the gun is wearing the backpack, and then have team reload reduce recoil or help with ergonomic, it might be used ever.

There should be a ship upgrade that gives you a personal resupply stratagem in every mission that is the same cooldown but it only gives 1 or 2 boxes

If they want to make it so you work together to bring things down, dont make a single enemy immune to damage, just make it so that damage is heavily brought down. Most break points are 1 dmg, and it can be the difference between moving forward to deal +1 dmg or moving back and dealing -1 dmg. If that's the issue fix it via allowing shots that down land on weak points to do chip damage, ARs, Stal and Machine Gun would be viable chip damage supports, that make a Recoiless go from 2-3shotting to 1-2 shotting. If they want teamwork, thats how it should work, tracer fire leading heavy AT to their targets. 100% agree the early days of Helldivers 2 was a blast cowboy style bisecting Bots, chicken poppin, and Hulk blasting. It was amazing, until it was taken from us.

Railgun at launch was amazing to kill Chargers specially because of the Stun Lock that we could do to any charger. And the stun lock was directly connected to the unsafe mode time to fire. The shoot time and the stun time matched and that made the gun the best charger killer. The damage is back after the last buff, but the stun/heavy stagger is not and the time to fire is too long with the unsafe mode.

Flamethrower nerf sucks and has been the first time they have “dumpstered” a weapon in a while but before the behemoth patch literally no one played it anyways, it has always needed a rework. This biggest fail of this patch is not giving more alternatives for both flamethrower and behemoths. Idk how to fix flamethrower but chargers just literally need the leg armor strip “momentum” thing fixed ASAP

Flamethrowers needed a nerf. You can't have a sidearm melting chargers, and one guy with a flamethrower and stun grenades single handedly making chargers redundant was already OP. So I think the primary and sidearm flamer are fine now, but for the stratagem I think just give it way more range. Breaker incendiary is still busted because they didn't nerf it correctly. What makes it strong is how easily a single pellet can light things on fire. Should take a face full of buckshot to ignite something, not spraying in the general direction of a patrol and leaving them to burn to death.

Not everybody will get good teammates and good coordination, the flamer helped people who knew what they were doing decrease the ever living spawn rate of chargers in some missions which was nice. You can argue that it's because it's very effective, but that's only because the rest were shit in comparison. I recently came back to the game and got met with a nerf and zero compensation to deal with the multiple chargers that still spawns for some reason(why is this not yet fixed, I was only playing at diff 7) this is the only thing I disagree with your comment. Other than that, those other points were some pretty nice suggestions. TLDR in case you do not want to read all that shit. Strategem has to be strong. If nerf, give other players another option to deal with it that is actually just as "Effective". Making everything bad against a certain enemy is not good, having only one strategy be very viable against a certain enemy is also not good. Even the playing fields in a stronger way is all I think they needed to do. P.S the new flamethrower looks effing dumb and stupid(the vfx, the old one looked cooler which I used the hell out of even way before the fire buffs came)

1:15:50 The robotics workshop uses the mech icon when buying some of the upgrades and also every one of those upgrades applies to the mech, they dont even need to add a new section

The devs need to add artificial modifiers depending on if you’re doing group or solo play. And they need to add a companion similar to DRG that can help you (esp for things like Buddy bunkers)

The mechs in this game should be like the silverbacks from GOW. You should be able to lock down a field of fire, repair it, and not have to worry about ammo. But you had to be careful because it could be destroyed relatively easily

I bet every single player loves much more fighting heavy enemies than clearing annoying chaff enemies. AH should make the ATs 1-2 shot to the head all heavies and throw at us double the amount of heavies and lower a bit the chaff on Super Helldive. That would be a fun and great change. Thicc is right, at launch, 7-9 was a full of heavy enemies. It was so fun to fight them.

I was aight with the balance changes. It's the content drop that disappointed me. Especially with the Mega Outposts, me thinking there are new upgrades, but it's just extra samples to the point that I do not know where I could use my resources(Medals, Requisitions, and Samples) on.

Iv been completing more automaton operations lately than bugs. I think they’re easier now. The new alpha commander and that impaler is just like a wall you gotta break down. The bots feel a lot more fluid now. More options.

I think a key adjustment they could make to a lot of the weapons is actually making the weapons good against certain types of enemies, or improve the niche the weapon actually has. For example the lib penetrator has more pen than the base lib, but mot enough to really matter, improving its penetration so it can deal damage through all armour (bar charger and bile titans/ tanks) would actually make it useful and play differently than the other ARs

While im not complaining constantly about the nerfs. One thing I’m hating after this update is the amount of crashes the game now has and disconnects seem to be the worst I think iv ever seen. If it’s not you dropping from a game, it’s your team mates. It’s like the game is getting more broken with every patch.

The crashes and disconnects are my only frustration with this game. I can complete difficulty 10 with randoms while using off meta picks and consistently coming out as either MVP or second. So when I play with my friends and we work together it becomes quite easy. So I don't see the problem with the difficulty at all, if anything I want higher difficulties so I can have fun but these people want to take my fun away from me so they can feel good about doing the hardest difficulty.

The devs need to make the weapons behave in a real way. Anti tank rounds that don’t stop tanks is not real. There should not be friendly fire from guard dogs and certain sentinels. They need to fix running mechanics. I can climb the supply drop like a monkey, but I get stuck on a rock 6 inches tall.

The most fun point of this game for me was when eruptor was in its prime, QC was not nerfed, and the guard dog rover was full powered. I would play that loadout for 500 more hours if I could lol

OP should be defined as over performing significantly over intention. But you have to have a solid performance baseline to determine what is over or underperforming in the first place. For the player base, often a weapon is picked because it doesn't completely suck, not because its overpowered, nothing in HD2 falls into that category. Reliable should be the baseline, defined as a weapon doing, efficiently, what it is designed to do. That CANNOT be considered overpowered, that is baseline. But it seems to be what AH considers to be overpowered, and that's the problem.

HD 2 is a unique case where the phrase "players will optimize the fun out of the game" doesn't apply, because it's the developers doing it for us. [edit] so, maple keeps bringing up group play... yeah, if you're communicating, sure. out of the last 4 days i've played, only two matches i've had people communicating in voice chat back to me with randoms, as none of my friends play anymore, and everybody just leaves immediately after a mission is over. With that in mind, no, group play is not always the answer, because you never know if you can rely on that potential amazing partner or dipshit next you to make the right call, and more often then not, it's a dipshit. so group play for me personally is a VERY mixed bag, if i had a premade team, we'd be communicating left and right on what to do, and that happens in public *sometimes* but nowhere near often enough.

Here is my issue with the new warbond and its weapons. Whose loadout actually changed from any of these? Like Pipz said, he isn't going to use any of them. Granted the Cookout is a decent marriage of the Pummeler and Break Incendiary, but it still won't surpass my Blitzer with the bugs, and it isn't making it into a bot loadout, everything else is trash tier. So outside of being novel, they all are just new items that will sit in the armory.

The developers can't know if the weapons are balanced for levels 6,7,8,9 or 10 because they play at level 4...and fail to complete the missions. So, for them, it is hard enough. Plus, we can't deal with everything for various reasons: 1- The enemy constellation is random, so we don't know if we are gonna encounter bile spewers or hunters and commanders, so we gotta be prepared for everything. 2 - our stratagems, which according to the devs are what we should rely on, have long cool downs and are affected constantly by various modifiers. So, we don't have the tools and the devs don't test their own game.
