I always thought that Night Comet build was the real OP build in ER. It can melt almost 90% of the bosses with little buff (Golden Vow, Howl of Shabiri). And the hardest ones require a bit more buffing (but way less compared to build in which you need to switch equip really fast). Night Comet prevents input reading from enemies, it can hit flying enemies, you can cast it at safe distance, it doesn’t rely on enemy attack RNG and you can use it during exploration.
Slight suggestion: slow down the demonstration of the build in the beginning. You flash everything for less than a second. It makes us have to rewind and pause. Soon as I figure out the build, I will give it a shot.
@@casualggIt's very Good I started playing this week and Finished Elden Ring and am collecting everything Before purchasing the Dlc,So you think I should buy the Dlc as people said mage is not viable in Dlc but I got through the base game comfortably with your similar build
@@notorious4204 Mage is more than viable in DLC. As you see in the video, it is more op than probably 95% of the builds outside there in my opinion, after the nerf of impenetrable thorns, which can be considered as a mage/spell build anyways.
@notorious4204 yes, NG+ where I use two staff of loss. Not absolutely necessary for NG. Can use one staff of loss and lusat glint stone or other staff.
Exceptional video and build. I had to replay it in 0.25 speed about 100 times to get it but eventually I got it. Thank you. I don't understand the heavy buffing section. I tried letter by letter but the damage doesn't seem to improve. It would be perfect if you had the heavy buffing section written down somewhere so we can understand the logic and the sequence of actions. Yet again thanks
Thank you for your comment and suggestions! Others suggested going slow in the gear scanning through part of the video. I will do it in future videos besides a few that I already edited that way. Here is the script for the heavy buff process I wrote down. It is a bit tedious, but hope this helps: We throw a frenzy flame stone on the ground, eat pickled turtle neck, and wait until the madness reaches about half of the bar, cast Golden Vow, drink our Physick, cast Howl of shabriri, after madness triggers, swap to Mushroom crown eat raw meat dumpling to get poison switch Aged one’s Exultation to Graven-Mass Talisman switch both hands’ weapons to staff of loss drink FP flask enter the arena while we go through door swap kindred of Rot’s exultation to magic scorpion charm We are ready for the fight.
Poison buffs are the ones I didn't add even to the heavy buffs at the end of the video. So the items you called out are what we can add on top to improve our damage if we are in higher NG plus games. I just released a video of finger Sorceries. Please check if that's interesting to you.
Thanks! It is definitely on my list - the first item came to my mind is the Rakshasa set, and bloodsucking tear to replace spiked tear. Any other dlc item worth to look at?
I didn't wear white mask. Only using the norm buff (07:40). I was trying to do no hit on that boss, so I went pretty much all for defense. If you have trouble with the boss, don't use howl of shabriri (I actually have no option for a replacement here as it is spell damage). Then wearing heavier armor is going to help a lot.
@@casualgg I'm not sure how i posted this comment on the wrong video but I actually meant on your cross naginata bleed build while you were fighting that boss you were basically face tanking him.
@@drewskii3289 haha, I see. That video was at the beginning of the DLC, when I was not very familiar with the boss mechanics. I was using the IronJar aromatic, which prevents us from rolling but gives us a ton of defense. When you see the body is covered like melted iron, the effect is active. It is a very good defense mechanism there. With this aromatic, we probably can wear anything.
I must be doing something wring. Double equiping staff of loss +25 plus Rakasha set plus night comet (2673) is doing less damage than 1 Lusat staff + Azur Crown + regular comet (2752). And way less damage than Lusat staff + crown + star of ruin (3300 damage). But I heard that double staff of loss plus night comet should give the highest damage of all spells...
@@casualgg In all cases i use the specific set up to boost the specific spell to the max. Azur crown boost comet and Lusat crown boost Stars of Ruin. Lusat staff is also the highest damage for those spells. So for me at 80 int a maxed out Stars of ruin beats a maxed out Comet, which beats a maxed out Night Comet. Which should not, because everyone says that maxed out Night Comet achieve the highest damage of all spells. So what am I doing wrong ? Also yes, all these damage are for fully charged spells with the same talisman set-up.
@@Sadoruro I don't think you are doing things wrong. It might be how it is designed to be - I haven't tested it myself. Well, it is not all about the damage. Comet is good and similar to night comet, while enemy can detect it is coming and dodge it. Star of ruin is pain for me to cast and make sure it tracks enemy. To be honest, I have never made it actually work well. In the end, it's gonna be a combination of factors to make one spell your favorite. Can you share what talismans you are using?
Okay. See the following video where I tried to recreate what you said, which get very similar damage numbers as you did. I think the point in my last comment still holds - if you try comet on Malenia. She probably will dodge 9 out of 10 casts, while she might take all 10 casts from night comet. Bosses who move fast will not take all the hits from star of ruin, so even it has higher damage on mobs who don't move, its effective damage in real fight is much lower. @@casualgg oh thanks for doing that experiment ! I think there's no doubt that IA not able to see Night Comet is a huge plus for the spell ! However this could mean there's room for doing even more damage in your build shown in this video maybe ? With all your buffs, Star of Ruin could melt bosses even quicker than Night Comet (at least the ones that don't dodge)
We equip black dumpling, madding hand, and Aged one's exultation. If we use incantation such as Howl of Shabriri util madness triggers, we get buffs from these items.
Definitely it is for real 🙂 I played this build a year ago, and DLC just made it absolutely a beast. After the impenetrable thorns nerf today, this is what I absolutely recommend.
Thanks! This is in NG+. It was already strong in the base game, even in NG+7 (see the Malenia fight linked in description if interested). For DLC, there is room to further use buffs from white mask and blood lord's exultation, which I didn't use for the final boss fight.
Btw, all the fights, except the DLC Radahn and Elden Beast fights, all used the normal buff at the end of the video. The final bosses used the heavier buff.
dam dude, what a build, night comet is so awesomely strong...hmm, maybe i start a new caster. Btw, is the night comet strong even before the 2nd staff in off hand? Great video btwmy problem though, i do not like those long buff routines *sigh...what to do?😂
Thanks. If you don't have another staff of loss, use one in off-hand and lusat glint stone in another hand (may need more FP). Long buff routine only applied to the final Radahn and the elden beast (the latter doesn't need it I think). Other fights were all using the normal buff.
It still has room to buff the damage though. While in NG+8, you might want to play more conservatively. I didn't play there, but should be a very good try. Its cast speed and damage win over many builds already. Might need some skill to dodge a little bit more as it may not kill every boss just like NG+.
@@XELASK82 We need to go to another playthrough to pick up one. It is in Caelid, we can use the teleport from the beginning of the game to get there in like less than 5 min. Or ask some friend to drop you one.
Only no hits by yourself if you intend to use this build to help others you will do damage but you won’t be one shotting anything with it besides weak enemies
