Elden Ring: How To Defeat The Draconic Tree Sentinel 

I get him to half health every time but when he starts using those red lightning strikes it kills me everytime because I can’t dodge it

I swear the damage in this game is way too high. Armor is basically a joke.

The 2 tree sentinels are fine if you pull them one at a time. The draconic one is smashing me on my second play through at level 69 with an INT build. I can dodge melenia but I can't reliably dodge lightning yet.

I used poison cheese to kill this guy here, but they put another one in crumbling farum azula with no horse, no summons, and no stealth allowed. The most frustrating thing is that he extends his combos to hit you when you press the attack button. I just cant figure out when it's safe to attack, since you can't rely on his animations like in previous souls games

Im just gonna say If you have the mimic summon, everything in the game Will be much easier, You can find It at Nokron (Siofra river) inside a chest

Just take the path with the 2 Tree Sentinels, and fight them one at a time from range. If you're approaching from in front of the 2 Sentinels, just jump onto the structures that are on either side of the stairs and range them. Easy.

If anyone is watching, the key to dodging the single lightning strike is to wait for him to pull his arm down and roll. If you're on mount, wait for the arm pull then DISMOUNT (invul frames) and then call your mount back while he is in recovery

To anybody doing this in July 2024 or later. When he's about to summon the lightning strike, jump off of Torrent, when his arm is JUST about to go down. The animation of getting off of Torrent makes it that you don't take any damage. Then get back onto Torrent and continue. You're Welcome!!

When you mention there's a summon, I didn't notice at first, and then I tried fight with the summon.. FIRST TRY BABY! Tragoth tanked all the way holy sh*t

Im Still struggling with this monster. Died probably over 30 times so far but the most annoying part is that I can get him around 20-30 percent easily. Twice I got him on 1hp , I can dodge consistently all his attack but end off the story I always fail at the end . All I takes is one random mistake and that it. 1 shot or 2 hit combo end your misery

You don't have to fight all the enemies on the stairs I panicked and run through the big doors and found a lost grace. I'm still attempting to beat the double tree sentinels before I progress anymore but it's nice to respawn right behind em

Thank you for this! Having a cooperator helped. Summoned him as well as skeletal militiamen while spamming light combos with eleanora’s poleblade for bleed.

I want to say thank you more than words can, im such a skill issue I couldn't kill this boss at lvl 121 and then I watched your video and found out about the poison mist thing. Thank you, I can finally progress the game

Go straight past all the enemies in the two tree sentinel path and grab and rest at the grace. It's easier.

Tried the cheese method today because I tried a lot of times only to die. This still works, however, when you sneak in the bush, there will be an open spot, and when you reach it he will turn to you for a few seconds, during that time DON'T MOVE, wait for him to return his vision forward and continue. If it didn't work and he spots you, try: (1)crouching and walking slowly, really slow like the way you walk instead of run. (2)hide in the bushes as much as possible. Then when you try to use the poison incantation on him, remember to: (1)DO IT WHILE CROUCHING. (2)Even when you are drinking the fp potion, do not stand, it will increase the chance of getting spotted. (3)Optional but should be necessary, do not stick to him and maintain at least a little distance. That's all, good luck!

Great Horned Tragoth has to be the most op cooperator, he literally has more HP than the boss itself and hits like a truck

I'm only like level 43 and I keep almost killing him, it's just the lighting strikes that piss me off.

This is easily my least favorite fight in the whole game thus far

This boss is possible if you know the basics of his moveset , i beat him with bloodhound fang+4 at level 48 and took bout 20-30 tries without any summon

idc if summons are lame the hammer guy that you can summon at the gold message thing is a life saver, went from not being able to get to second phase to killing the dts first try with him

Finally did it! Definitely the most irritating enemy I have needed to defeat in Elden Ring, well up to this point anyway. Managed to sneak past him eventually, and the poison mist worked, albeit very slowly, I did try Night Maiden's Mist which is way more powerful than PM, but he reacts instantly to NMM, so nope. If you can sneak behind him, it can take a few attempts, keep using the Poison Mist when it stops ticking down, or overlap the uses, not sure which works best, but eventually he dies, and you get 50K runes too. Happy Me. Now to progress through Leyndell, albeit carefully.

OMFG I ACTUALLY BEAT HIM! Me and my friend are doing no summons for our first playthrough and jesus christ, beating this guy was honestly the purest feeling of euphoria i have ever felt in my entire life. I FKN LOVE THIS GAME!!!!

I was right behind the draconic sentinel and it whiffed its attack hitting in front of him. Despite being behind him, the hit box was so jank that he somehow hit from behind. The artificial difficulty in some of these bosses are insane

Yeah i just love perfect parrying and doing everything right and then getting nuked with red lightening. I really feel my skill growing when the RNG blesses me /s

If you’re a strength melee user, use the Giants Crusher for this fight, its jump attacks stagger the draconic tree sentinel extremely often

Anyone watching this .. USE the summon and summon ur own skeleton militia men. I beat him first try with this strategy. I tried for 2 days without the summon and failed lol. This summon is a beast

If you can’t summon spirits or NPCs, it’s bc you need the spirit bell. You can visit the first church, or purchase it at the twin husks

i have this issue when the tree sentinel knocks me off my horse he usually either kills me before i even get up, or i get up but i cant summon my horse without using the flask. and when that screen prompt shows up you cant roll. then i die from a fire ball because the stupid prompt and half the time i cant even see my cursor because they did a horrible job making the cursors and map in this game. cant even have an option to remove all markers

A tip that helped me, specifically as a mage: I found the 2nd phase with the lightning attacks much easier on foot than on horse back. You need to time your dodge roll to when he brings his arm down for the targeted lightning :) Once you get the timing down it will feel like second nature to dodge it. After each dodge, no matter the type of attack, shoot a pebble at him and trickle his health down. You'll never need more than a single dodge to avoid any of his attacks, so stay calm, get a rhythm and feel the sweet glory of defeating his ass

If you can beat the tree sentinel with a club, you'll have no problem for this guy. Beat him in about sub 20 or 30 tries, but he was kinda easy.

I’m betting he probably did that like 300 times and got one clip of them successfully killing that Dragonite sentinel. Honestly, I tried it like 30 time he always picks up on you every single bloody time

Alternative way, having skeleton summons + black knife spam.

Nah this guy is a pain, I was 45 vigour and full health and flasks but his thunder attack demolished my health bar

The cheese has to have been patched I used every trick in the book to sneak up on him he caught me every time.

Big tip for anyone doing this with with melee only, stick to his shield side as much as you can. He will swing his shield at you instead and it has much shorter range than his weapon does, so you can easily dodge it then go for an attack. I was struggling to solo this fight until I realised this and I beat him on the same attempt.

Ik its late. But if any of u guys are struggling theres a really easy method i found. Summon the five dudes with the huge shields. Walk up slowly to the boss. Go all out and blast rotten breath and quickly get on torrent when done. Then just let the five dudes handle him while u blast him with any extra long range attcks. He dies rlly quick. Note: i was pretty high level and did a ton of dmg by using a rank 6 sword or night and flame + 58 int. Gl

Anyone who’s having trouble I used the sword of night and flame and couldn’t get a hit off I also couldn’t dodge the tracking lighting attack on the horse to stay on the horse the whole fight but when he starts to use the tracking lighting hop off the horse dodge it on foot and get back on

Playing as spellcaster and with the summon makes this fight trivial.

I found another way. Sneak up from behind get one strong hit and then one r1 hit and escape as fast as u can with the horse. He will return to stand at the gate. I dod this like 10 times and it worked

guys you can jump his lighting strikes by jumping 2 times in the hourse, just time it before the hourse land and jump 2nd time

This was my favorite boss, something about the ranged super hard to dodge attacks mixed with the tiny run back made this a blast and I LOVE the hilarious way the horse flicks his legs up to shoot fireballs. Adorable.

So what I did I used the sword of night and flame then I let the npc attack him and I started to use my sword on it not the flame the other abilities

For lower stat players use lenneta I think her name is, spawn her far from him and just tank those hits while she shoots her bow that easy.

I went with the Altus plateau way into the capital and rushed through the graces with torrent. I got absolutely jumpscared by the tree sentinels because of all of our experiences with then in our first hour of this masterpiece

The stair with two tree sentinel is actually easier, just ride through them and touch the grace then you don’t have to worry about them anymore

Im assuming they made a change to the sentinel, because when I tried the cheese. not only did it notice me each time, but the game only allowed it to be poisoned once

I m so late in this discussion but the way I beat him after a thousand tries throughout lvls 60 to 70: summoned Millicent, Targoth and a spirit summ(I used Luthel the Headless) and just zerged him. Extremely easy to do it this way, his AI is getting confused about who to atrack and when. He didnt even used his homing lightning.

Just beat this guy and wow wish I used poison but I ended up learning the parying after 2 hours of dying.

This Stupid boss with his Lightning attack NEVER MISSES I SWEAR.

The HP levels in so many people's tutorials is so high lol. And yes I am humble bragging. I like to favor other stats and it works out well.

Just beat him in my level 1 wretch run. 69th attempt, not even kidding😂. Put golden vow ash onto a dagger, activate then switch to your actual weapon. I put cragblade onto an uchikatana with heavy enchantment. B scaling with stregth and 2 handed it. Jump attack talisman and chest armor for +25% jump attack damage. Ride in on torrent, jump off attack, then 2 more jump attacks. He always starts with the same attack where his horse rears up. Dodge that and one more jump attack stuns him. Charge attack while hes down. From here on you gotta learn his moveset but that opening segment can be the same everytime. If his horse does its fire attack, dodge forward and get a roll attack in. When dodging the melee try to circle around and attack the horses ass so the guy cant get in 3 or 4 hit combos. Bleed weapon gives you a nice proc late in the fight. I did it at level 1 and i aint that good. Dont give up!

If you look around on the rocks on the left side of the Gate, you can stand on it and spam spells, with volves, rotten breath, like pebble, it worked like a charm, this boss is so unnecessary

Killed him with assistance of skeletal Militia men. Spammed black flame on him when he got distracted by skeletons. skeletons died in his second phase, dot of black flame helped me kill him in the end.

Just use poison mist. Thats what i did. Crouched and poisoned him from behind without him seeing me till his health depleted
