The multiplayer in elden ring is and probably always will be the worst part. Imagine if you could just play the game together, progress together, go through everything together without having to set passwords and summon each other constantly with terrible connection and disconnects.

The point of summons is lore based. A big part of the lore is fractured realities that branch out and coexist along similar path lines. Basically they are the shadows of other visions of the chosen tarnished living through their journeys at the same time as you. Similar concepts were used in other fromaoft coop games

+1 Just let us go through our friendlist and invite them at the beginning of a session and then there's no resummoning until the next session or if someone leaves. Also having to do the same boss a zillion times simply to make sure everyone's progressed to the same point, that's just stupid.

You're right about the Ulcerated Tree Spirit, it's pretty clearly unfinished. There are a few bosses with broken tracking and animations that they just shoved in at the last minute.

Not really, it’s pretty easy to dodge through it’s attacks with a mid equip load, you just have to delay your rolls until the second before it begins to hit. Haven’t been caught by it’s grab attack since my first battle with one, although it’s other attacks are admittedly trickier to avoid. Same thing with the Erdtree Avatars.

If you break his position while he does his exploding attack, his AI breaks and just stands there, and you can wack him all you want until he decides 20 seconds later he's had enough and continues attacking. It's not hard to do, happened to me 3 times when I fought him for the first time without leveling up. If you win when that happens, you feel like you cheated the bossfight, so I fought him 15 or more times

Agree with Sam 100% on the multiplayer. Dark Souls 1 had a very specific vision, and every game after that was sloooooowly working its way towards just inviting your friends to play a more "traditional" style of multiplayer, but always using half-measures and clunky mechanics. It leads to an awkward middle ground that doesn't make anyone happy.

invaders see a marker on the compass so they can find you. When they get close it disappears, but can still figure it out. Mimic veil seems to be more for invaders, but hunters get a marker on compass to find invaders so watch for that if invading. Hosts and summons don't get any markers on the compass.

I got a message that got SO many appraisals and for a few days I literally didn't have to use HP flasks (minus bosses). I got appraisals so often that it was just constantly healing me, so it's definitely worth putting them down whenever you think of something, just in case you get lucky.

For the ulcerated tree spirit, the grab attacks are delayed. If you hang by the sides and roll when his little side arms are near you, you can attack 2-4 times depending on weapon. I used to get scared of them, but they’re not too bad.

every time I saw one of those tree spirits I would go and equip that haligdrake medallion, the holy boost would save my life from that holy fire grab bc it didnt do much physical dmg. (btw the haligdrake medallion is at like, the far south of liurnia lake in some tunnel cave area. once you get to it you MAY recognize the area near it from earlier in the game :)

You guys should check out LukeYui's Co Op mod when it releases. It removes all multiplayer boundaries and allows for connections to persist after death. Apparently it won't get you banned because it uses it's own launcher.

Pro Tip: If you want to get appraised, write things that are ACTUAL USEFUL. If i see one more that literally says "Praise the message", just so some scrub can get a free heal, ill melt my damn eyeballs out of my head.

i always get a ton of appraisals, key to appraisals. place is somewhere of interest. for example an NPC, or a boss fog. the message should contain a well thought message that is lore connected. boom appraisals roll in.

i think your idea to let you play co-op with ur friends all the time is good but they’d have to add an option to either turn off invasions or match the number of invaders with co-op players to make it fair. some people like to co-op and just wait for invaders to 3v1 them and or just hide from them in areas where you cant reach without horse so that the invaders leave which gives the host runes
