Thanks!! It's mind blowing to me how Miyazaki just decided to get inspired by a poem in the 60s and somehow he managed to fit it perfectly in his story! I already made a similar video about the influence behind Midra and how Metyr and the greater will might be Black Holes, go watch it if you liked this one. And thanks for the nice words!!! It means a lot!!
@@mmfsnotsakuga3408 I know of many not that obscure ones. The Norse and Celtic myths are all around (like the Erdtree, Godfrey's conquests, valkyries...), there's a huge reference to Christianity, crucifiction and crusades, Mesopotamian/ Babilonian myths about death and godhood and references to the corresponding ancient architecture, Egyptian myths of birth and godhood, seedbed curses are from Japanese folklore, and there's a reference to Izanami/Izanagi, Numen and Nox are references to Tolkien, astels are inspirations from Stephen King, then Lovecraft and the cults around outer gods... There is a lot of stuff mirroring G. Martin's TSOIAF, some references to Dark Souls and Bloodborne, a few parallels with Berserk... and the main story's unrevelling is one of the most blatant political commentaries in game media - they even named her Marika)
@Eddison33 yeah if you love to see the ancient inspirations you should check Tarnished Archeologist he has some absolute bangers And if you wanna see more weird inspirations then check the video I made before this one about Two DLC bosses Also I never made the Marika connection, I thought it was just GRR Martin doing his thing 😂
