I think my favorite underrated part about this fight is the fact that you GOTTA kill him, not only cuz he’s gonna straight up rip the world asunder if he gets loose, but also because he has been deemed a lord… and there can only be one.
I always think that if we were tarnished and we didn't revive and comeback. We are technically amazingly stupid and dying of literally everything. Almost any boss would be the real death of us
I love this boss and the entire area, it's very different from the rest in the DLC but I feel like the point of it is really to just try and to put the fear inside you this theme fits that very well and I love it.
Even getting to the building is pretty ominous and you understand instantly when realizing not even Torrent will step foot there that something dangerous is there
@@DinosaurBoy04 the later half of the ost being a waltz is so fitting for the bosses fighting style as well. I don’t think they could have made a better song for this boss
I was frankly getting annoyed with the abyss area, it felt super empty, and no friggin horse. I searched the whole damn thing for no rewards, to finally find this at the very last unexplored spot. Then i see the frame! THAT was the guy i wanted to see the most then this track! I was floored! And i forgave everything. Miyazaki you wonderful bastard!
Or maybe that's the Frenzied Flame itself toying with you as you try and stop the abomination Midra has become and there's that lingering fear that Midra could easily kill you just by looking at him but decided not to and it just wants to see you struggle in fear and horror
I think the bosses in this dlc will do specific moves or phase transitions based on the music. I think it's most notable during the dancing lion every time he switches elements.
The true fear this theme installs is bone chilling, as if it’s conveying you made a grave mistake not turning back while you could. Makes me like this boss even more now
I LOVE that "The Song Of Despair" can be heard around the 3:43 mark. It's my favorite piece of music in the entire game and hearing it when fighting Midra for the first time gave me goosebumps
I spent a non-insignificant amount of this fight wondering why Midra's theme was giving me serious Ludwig Vibes. Besides all the similarities in the area, atmosphere, and music to Bloodborne, it took me a bit to realize that the real reason the theme reminds me of Ludwig so much is that just like Ludwig's theme, Midra's them is also literally a waltz. You are dancing with death and insanity alike, in a waltz to decide the fate of reality itself.
Elden Ring bosses are best when they feel like a dance. I would say Midra is the most like that in the DLC for me, only beat out by Godfrey in the base game.
I didn't expect this boss and the whole level to be so enjoyable considering the theme and things like that madness tower in the base game. In the times of DS2 this kind of level would have been absolute hell.
It fits, given the themes of madness and the destruction of one's own mind that the Frenzied Flame does. That's not even counting the cosmic horror side of the Frenzied Flame being a byproduct of the Greater Will, an outer god that we STILL do not understand much of, both in terms of power and ultimate goals.
Only boss I put my summon sign down because I actually can’t get enough. The visuals are insane and the soundtrack compliments the fight. Wish they would make more frenzied flame content because it’s all been peak so far. Actually got chills on my first attempt and now nothing in the dlc can itch my brain as this boss did.
when he got back up and the music hit I audibly said "oh shit" I was so surprised, not cause i didn't expect it but that introduction was incredible. I got popped a few times just cause I was watching him glide around the arena looking so cool LOL.
I liked how we were all wrong about his lore too, haha, i thought he was the botanist man on the Leyndell statues, nope, complete side quest that i don't think connects to anything but good god damn piece with the creepiest moving mofo. God damn that was good.
I literally thought of resident evil 1. The haunted woods, enemies you couldn’t damage, corpses in the front of a mansion, horror and mystery inside. The inquisitors outside with the most powerful in the beginning of the woods made us seem like they were keeping something in not out.
This fight is aloooot like radagon…. I like it. Sure it has extremely delayed attacks but they’re nicely telegraphed and you actually know what he’s doing. This fight was a breath of fresh air in the dlc where most bosses are either incredibly fast, or does some wonky shit to where you can’t even tell what they’re doing, and this was still a challenge boss.
Honestly this is my 3rd dlc from the FromSoftwares and Midra is my favorite boss fight in the entire game for me. The music, the mansion, the depressing and chaotic theme is wonderful. 10/10. They should have make Midra the final boss with some more hp and possibly a 3rd phase. ☠️
The way his movements flow with the flame and how his tattered cloak blends with the fire as this whirling dance of an ost is playing is SO GOOD. 100% with you this was my fav
i remember i was trying to get to the cerulean coast and somehow ended up here lol, such a cool and memorable area. same goes for midra obviously, actual peak.
Its weird how i didnt make any connection between madness enemies and the frenzy flame until I've seen the flaming head. Definitely the best moment from the DLC for me since I've chose the Frenzied flame ending the first time and it made me say WTF with a grinn on my face.
This was such a fun and fair boss. All other bosses in the dlc are also very good but do have some bullshit. This felt like a very good ds3 boss where you dodge through every swing. The music came straight out of bloodborne, as did the atmosphere. One of the best bosses in the game bar none.
Imo the only bs fight was Radahn, and he was the last one I fought Actually no, the Dancing Lion gave me frame drops on the xbox series s, as well as the camera. I still thought he was alright, but he was so much harder than Rellana but for all the wrong reasons
@@Chrisbun1Exactly it was just so empty. It could’ve just been the spooky ravine with the ancient untouchables and the dungeon, but instead it’s a MASSIVE area with absolutely nothing but rats and like 2 items spread across all of it. Very strange design
@@Marshall-q8j mfw I use the aspects that the game developers put into the game, using my brain unlike 90% of the people who call the dlc too hard, just to be called skilless
Not being able to ride torrent is kinda interesting lore wise, but it's a pain in the ass given how big the area is. At least once you figure out the trick to killing the grape headed monsters it gets a little less annoying.
