I was just searching for proof that the Elden Ring Ost has no lyrics, and that led me to the dualshockers article. Finally realising that Daniel Olmos is spreading misinformation is sad, as someone who was a fan of his content. At least we got the Song of Lament (thanks to you and Nyrun for translaiting it btw) and your videos. You earned a new sub.
@@xxzmaster04xx29 It is even more sad when we consider that I talked directly to Olmos way before that Dualshockers article came out, I told him those lyrics weren't in Latin and I told him I knew he was making everything up, I asked him to name his videos correctly and stop misleading people, but he didn't listen to me. There are still people out there being misled, I wish I could reach out to them, but my channel is tiny. About the Song of Lament, Nyrun only translated correctly after I shared the lyrics I got from the lyricist, and I had already translated them into English by then. The English translation you see in my song of lament video is mine; Nyrun's is slightly different, the main difference is how each of us translated "turpes". Let's hope Elden Ring's big dlc brings more Latin songs. 2 months ago, I managed to confirm some Latin lyrics from Bloodborne. The problem is that many people usually think that only because Bloodborne got some Latin song, all soundtracks from all Souls games are in Latin, which is a great mistake. Thank you very much for your attention and support ^^ Happy New Year! \o/
@@AntoniusTertius is really beautiful seeing more and more people like you sharing the same love for the Souls games. I don't know if it is because of the huge Elden Ring had had compared to prior Souls, but I feel like there are more lore seekers, more pvpers, more artists and more researchers. I remember a comment in a video with The Final Battle ost talking about that in the hallway before Radagon there was lots of messages from other people cheering eachothers like if they had made the entire journey together. Like friends. Life a *family* (Join the Serpent King...). Too bad that with all these sprouts of light, there are shadows like Daniel Olmos. A happy new year 2023 for too dude. I hope you have a great time. Also, holy shit you're really skilled at discerning the different parts of a choir in a cacophony that can be an Elden Ring song sometimes. Cheers!!!
@@xxzmaster04xx29 I didn't have to discern them at first, because I received those lyrics from a music producer who worked in Elden Ring, that's why I know what sopranos, altos, tenors and basses sang in those songs, that's why I put official in the titles too. When I produced the video, I had to listen to the vocals (knowing what was being sung already) to synch the lyrics to the song. Easier said than done though. Elden Ring surely draws new players to the series day by day, I'm glad as well. I invite you to give a listen to my Hollow Knight organ arrangements. Thank you for your words. Cheers :)
The Pulitzer Prize goes to... Antonius Tertius for his scoop in the Elden Ring lyrics case 😁 5:22 - Truth 6:47 - Faux Latin 8:55 - Respect Best video so far! It is informative from the beginning to the very end!!! Little by little people are starting to notice your super efforts.
Finally! I don't speak Latin but I know how songs like this are written so it was so frustrating to see people fall for the misinformation around this music. I'm glad you could contact the creators and clear things up.
Thank you for being here ^^ Sadly, almost no one watches my videos, so there are still people there being misled... To worsen things, several Reddit mods remove my posts about the subject and some even perma banned me for telling the truth, I feel kind of silenced.
@@AntoniusTertius Your work is deeply appreciated. Pay Reddit no mind, that place is a garbage dump, so of course rats thrive there and the biggest ones become mods. The one good thing though is that Reddit provides an example of what internet culture and discourse should **not** be. And how important it is to resist attempts to limit free expression on the internet.
@@Jordan-ob7nz Thanks for the words and support :) Reddit is a funny place, some groups there try to silence you, others encourage you. It is a pity what they did with me on the main Elden Ring sub, I could have halted the fake news as soon as they started spreading.
@@AntoniusTertius On fextralife it says under "notes and other trivia" that the song is not in latin, then it credits you on YT and on reddit so hopefully that helps against misinformation.
Yeah, music is the universal language, it speaks directly to one's soul, so no song needs to have lyrics that mean something; the sounds express the emotions :) Having said that, as I'm a Latin scholar, I have to say that I wanted more lyrics like those from the song of lament, but they always make some grammatical mistake in Latin lyrics... just check out on my channel some official lyrics from Bloodborne I could confirm, they are mostly grammatically mistaken and disjointed. Do I prefer gibberish to grammatically wrong Latin or vice versa? I'm still thinking about the answer. The mistakes annoy me so much, but I understand most people won't even notice. Anyway, Souls games got great music ^^
@@AntoniusTertius Fr - honestly I think the indecipherable gibberish works. The song has some really heavy moments - especially so in the second act, and honestly per how u interpret it, any context could be applied. At any rate, I did check out ur Ludwig video and I gotta say, amazing work fr.
@@AlbertusSalvatierra I have to agree, I only wish they could nail the Latin every time they use it in the soundtracks. Thank you for checking out my investigations :D Please, check out the Bloodborne composer's message I showed in a video about Bloodborne lyrics too. It is very informative :)
Hi, thanks for your comment :) I'll be picky here: actually there are no fan translations of these lyrics, only fanmade lyrics and translation of such fanmade lyrics. At least song of lament got real Latin lyrics and can be really translated. By the way, months ago I could confirm official lyrics of 2 Bloodborne songs, they're in Latin (mostly incorrect Latin), but the lyrics there are way more clear than these bosses ones from Elden Ring. Check out the other videos I published, they're informative. Too late for me to wish you a happy new year?
As if the game wasn't enough of a fevered dream, turns out the lyrics are too! It's like how some famous songs such as Teen Spirit have lyrics that actually mean nothing, but sound that way to convey a certain emotion. Saw your Reddit post, keep up the good work!
Thank you very much for checking out my channel :') If I were to depend on YT algorithm , no one would check my vids, so I have to make Reddit posts :\
They held the laughter with pleasure, as they were paid to sing those lyrics. But hey, I think I will ask one of them about it. As opera singers, they tend to know what the lines they sing mean in order to convey the feelings better, not here though.
Thank you for looking into this :) It’s really cool that you were able to speak to the composer! I guess part of me is sad that the song doesn’t have hidden lore but I felt as boss fight music and setting the tone it is perfect ^_^ I was expecting to find out they were former Finger Maidens or something… clearly I need to fight more mini bosses to get more items to read XD This only leads to more questions
Nice work as always. Godskin theme is so incredibly beautiful and efficient that it doesn't even need proper lyrics. It conveys that sinister plot so amazingly well anyway. One of the best works I've ever heard in a game.
Coming from that godskin song i was already skeptical since its so hard to hear and make sense of them. Glad to see you have confirmed it. On the other hand tho, those fake lyrics do go kinda hard.
A pity the fake ones mislead several people. Let's not forget he only altered the titles to 'fan translation' and the descriptions to 'working under the assumption etc etc' due to my posts on Reddit. Before them, the titles and descriptions were even more misleading. What if the person who does know Latin and has contacted the music producers (that's me) hadn't confirmed the obvious? Well, even now many people still believe in him and he doesn't want to confess he makes up lore texts in English and translates them poorly into Latin. I do support fanmade content, but it is not right to mislead people like that. Some people come here and dislike the videos that show the truth thinking he is right. The world is a nasty place indeed. So thank you for being here.
Dear Qarl, I hope the resignation was for the best. Are you alright? I'm glad you're here :) Even though the lyrics are meaningless, the song stirs our souls, such is the power of music ^^
@@AntoniusTertius I think, I'm okay, tbh. It's like a huge burden was lifted off of me. It's why it's really important the we, at least, love our job, and not just stay because we had to
Damn, this is sick! I'd been looking at the two most popular fan translations of the Apostles' theme, both in Latin, but to see the actual lyrics themselves is fascinating. Its pretty cool that the entirety seems to be some fabricated dialect, great stuff! Also TY for all the effort you put into getting these from the ER team.
Amazing! Thank you so much for your hard work. Even though the lyrics don't make any sense at least I now have something to sing along in my head when listening to this piece :D
Thank you for being here. I intend to release a big sing along video with all Elden Ring lyrics. Till then, I will keep releasing them one at a time. Stay tuned :)
Mohg theme also has this same kind of lyrics that mean nothing. The music production was done by Bandai, Fromsoft produced the game. At the time I published this video, I thought FromSoft was on the lead, but actually it was Bandai.
Massive respect to you for showing the truth. I was so tired of seeing these fake "elden ring OST oficial lyrics". Also, if i remember correctly, dark souls 3 main menu theme doesn't have any meaning too, it's just gibberish, but is still a masterpiece!
Thanks a lot! Just to clarify, the titles of my videos are "Elden Ring OST (boss name) Oficial Lyrics" because I show the lyrics I received from people who worked in the music production of the game. As for Dark Souls 3 lyrics, watch the first half of this video of mine: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mIZNaPfJUdI.html Eu também confirmei algumas letras de Bloodborne e uma de Demon's Souls Remake :)
Yayyyy, finally you uploaded the Godskin Apostle lyrics, it’s my favourite OST in the entire game! Thank you so much for all the work you do, I can’t wait for your next video!
This channel is really a hidden gem. Good content as always Honesty, these "Latin lyrics translated" of Olmos are the least believable of all of what he's done. Like, the last bit says "ah" and he heard "sancta".... I can only hope that this channel grows in popularity and more people realize that the lyrics in this game hold no lore at all. Like, they create huge "plot-holes". If I'm not wrong, in the fortissax's one, Daniel used "transformis (or trasformis?)" and he translated it as "you were transformed". But doesn't the term mean "able to transform" (well it's an adjective)? Therefore it's implying that he transformed by himself, and therefore, it doesn't make sense. You should really try to do Godfrey's next, if you're not tired of the elden ring lyrics. The vocals are pretty clear. Also, I appreciate that your editing and video style has improved.
Hi there, Lorenzo. Thank you for being here :) RU-vid algorithm and now several mods of Reddit simply hide my journalistic endeavours as much as they can for some reason. A pity indeed. I am very tired and I don't know if I can keep this up for long. I'm considering both Maliketh and Godfrey next. About Olmos: I only wish he could name his content correctly and either study Latin or simply present the made up texts in English.
@@AntoniusTertius I think you should do whatever you want next. Godfrey sounds interesting, but if you're really tired of them, you could probably do the bloodborne ones. I've heard that the creator said that they were made in Google translate, but I don't know really. I think that Olmos shouldn't "side" too much with the people that think his work is legit. I even upload(ed) for every video (except godrick's and deacons of the deep's) the "errors" of his lyrics, he even changed some parts based on my suggestions (that are pretty bad sometimes, up until 3 days ago I thought "sanguis" was feminine) , but since the Mohg ones, he stopped caring. I don't want attention, I just find that weird. Like, how would you even translate "non super" in "it doesn't go away(or over)"? Also, are you Magister Organi on reddit? I remember you saying that somewhere, I could be very wrong though.

Whatever the belief, the truth remains the same... It's quite funny how many people are gullibly willing to believe in fanmade lyrics&translations instead of the official stuff, but in the end it's like that; people tend to believe in sweet illusions, as the truth is usually too ugly. Un produttore musicale di Elden Ring m'ha detto che hanno pensato di creare una lingua fittizia, o meglio, una come quelle di Tolkien, però la pandemia e le scadenze del gioco hanno fatto sì che lasciassero quell'idea. When I revealed the song of lament lyrics and singer in March, I had high hopes, then I investigated the origins of the boss themes' lyrics and got a bit sad; but as I show in my latest video, it is quite common to have gibberish in game music, the composers of Dark Souls 1,2 and 3 already confirmed the lyrics of those games are gibberish that only resemble Latin...

2:56 The word "SANTOS" in Spanish/Latin means saints Edit: they said most of the lyrics aren't a language, so I assume this is one that most definitely is.
Watch the 2nd half of this video and the second halves of the other official lyrics videos. The lyrics in this game are not in Spanish, the lyrics are simply latinish syllables that sometimes form random words in several languages, there's no lore behind them; and santos is not Latin at all, it can be a Portuguese and Spanish word only. Remember that I talked to the person who arranged these very lyrics and that person was quite clear, no meaning, no languages, the lyrics were generated and arranged to sound like ancient languages. Song of Lament is the only song in Elden Ring that is truly in a real language (Latin), and I revealed its lyrics, translation and singer in March 2022.
Normally the truth is not what we wish for, but it sets us free from the chains of speculations and lies. I, as a Latin student, would love to have several Latin lyrics in the game, however that is not the case at all.

@@Anton2046gfkn Thanks :) As for Daniel Olmos, he used to mislead people very much by making them believe not only he knew Latin, but also that he was actually transcribing the lyrics and translating them into English. His video titles and video transcriptions were so misleading that I contacted him, explained I had contacted singers and music producers way before he started making up fanmade lyrics. All in vain, even after I published a video that showed some of the messages I exchanged with the singer and music producers. I was attacked by his minions, even nowadays I am sometimes, I mean, not necessarily by his minions today, but by people who prefer fanmade lyrics and worship them as though they were the real thing. His channel was immensely boosted after a misleading Reddit post of his fanmade Godskin Apostles' lyrics/translation, then that triggered several articles about him all over the world. He got over 7 thousand subs in his prime. His fanmade videos got way more views than my videos that show the official lyrics. As time went on, he started feeling the pressure coming from people (many who were his fans), then he changed his titles and descriptions; after some months, he uploaded a video in which he told he made up lyrics in a way as if everyone who followed him knew; then he lost some hundreds of subs; he managed to make youtuber agtjake upload a video that advertised his fanmade lyrics, he hooked back some subs; I had to contact that RU-vidr and prove that he was being misled, then he removed the video; after several months, Olmos decided to hide all of his Elden Ring videos, he made them all private; even today he insists on putting "fan translated lyrics" instead of FANMADE (a title that would not be misleading). Surely hatred towards him was never what I intended. I only wanted to spread the truth and I suffered very much to do so, very much. I was even perma banned from Elden Ring subreddit just because I made a post that explained why his videos were not correct, and there's more. I'm not sure if he has suffered as much as me, anyway, this is not a contest. I didn't want to suffer nor make him suffer. The point is: among all the people on RU-vid who makes up Souls lyrics/translations, he was the one who misled the most, maybe that's why you see people who speak badly of him. I told him many times: put FANMADE in your video titles, he simply refuses, go figure...

I later confirmed it was Bandai Europe and not FromSoft to produce the music, and remember most of Souls songs don't have lore in them to begin with. Last year, I had published on Reddit a video in which I showed lots of messages I exchanged with singers and music producers, and I put a link to it in every single Elden Ring video page of mine here until one of those people noticed it and asked me to remove it from Reddit, and so I did. Here's the reuploaded video: app.videas.fr/v/bc5db2ca-6e1d-4498-bd63-880cdad4fe44/ Also, don't forget to read all the articles published about Magister Organi=Antonius Tertius and watch my other videos, they are very informative.
I'm disappointed in discovering the videos that popped up in my recommended aren't what they seem but I was already on the fence tbh. I don't know a lot of Latin but I thought I was going mad when I spent time listening to the tracks in isolation. Because I couldn't hear where all these words were and it was driving me mad! I have a feeling FROM use Latin choral aspects in their works occasionally but not every orchestral track across games. I'm particularly annoyed with the Fortissax one because its a compelling narrative and something people could really sink their teeth into! Such a shame.
Sadly the videos that bring the truth about the lyrics aren't recommended by youtube algorithm. How did you find this forgotten video of mine? I was the person to first publish the Latin lyrics of the song of the bats 3 months ago; at that time, I thought there would be more Latin songs in the game, I got frustrated as well. But From Software usually goes for meaningless lyrics in the Souls games anyway. Bloodborne is but one game, Dark Souls 1,2,3, Demon's Souls and Elden Ring are 5... Noticing that fake lyrics get more attention than the official ones saddens me greatly. People tend to like them and dislike the truth, however bitter it may be. At least now people can sing along to the songs.
@@AntoniusTertius This video actually popped up on my recommended today! I do watch a lot of ER content though so I'm assuming it's all tangential in a way. I found it a little odd that such heavy lore (I'm an absolute fiend for discovering the story in these games) would be written into the soundtracks, which are generally just background noise in most games, not just FROM ones. Well arranged of course but by no means critically integral to the overall story of the game.
@@Jopeymessmusic Wow, one of my videos got recommended, that is rare. Indeed, as I usually explain in the videos, it is quite common to have meaningless lyrics in video game music.
Great job. Sadly, knowing that the lyrics are just gibberish completely ruined it for me. I can completely understand why some people don't want to know the truth and tbh good for them. Ruining something you enjoy sucks ass. Being right will never be as fun. :/
Hey, thanks. Cheer up, know that gibberish in video game music is very common. Dark Souls 1,2 and 3 all have gibberish there. The truth sets us free, I know that people say "ignorance is a bliss", but mankind is homo sapiens after all. As humans, we are supposed to be ready to handle the truth, no matter how ugly it may be. I have fun playing and listening to Elden Ring. Music doesn't need actual words to convey its emotions, only sounds. I invite you to watch the second half of the Final Battle lyrics video. You will then understand how Miyazaki wants us to play and feel his games.
@@AntoniusTertius Yes, i watched that video and that's exactly why i feel the way i feel. Knowing what the lyrics actually say (and what's worse, knowing that they're pure gibberish) goes 100% against miyazaki's philosophy about the player interpreting stuff by themselves and finding the missing pieces of the puzzle with their own imagination. I understand now that's probably the reason behind not officially releasing the lyrics of the songs (and also makes me question why would someone working in the game actually give you the lyrics) because, gibberish or not, knowing them it's going to ruin the freedom the player has to interpret whatever is missing from the game by themselves. You probably did a service to people learning latin so they don't get misleading translations made up by some random guy but i can't see how this is a service to the actual soulsborne players. While i completely agree that knowing the truth is better than living in lies, i don't think it really applies in fictional media since their only purpose is entertainment.
@@someoneinsomewhere8079 That does not go 100% against miyazaki's philosophy about the player interpreting stuff by themselves at all: www.knowll.com/e/105/the-childhood-of-hidetaka-miyazaki Quite the contrary actually, precisely because they have no meaning the players have all freedom to imagine everything. Even if you consider the only Latin song in the game (song of lament), its meaning is very vague and it is up to the players to connect that to the story. That's how it works for Miyazaki, who has recently announced he intends to make a fantasy even more abstract next time. How long have you been a Souls player? I play Souls games since Ps3 Demon's Souls and it is not normal to see all that commotion over lyrics with no meaning, that's normal, what is rare is to find true Latin songs in the games. I did a service to everyone who holds dear the truth, not only for Latin students, almost no one studies Latin after all. People must understand that gibberish is the standard. I play Souls games for its gameplay and sense of discovery and wonder, those made the Souls games famous and entertaining :) My Elden Ring experience was not ruined at all. I tried to forward a message to Miyazaki asking for more Latin songs in the next game anyway. Till then, I will now investigate the truth of the bloodborne lyrics. Cheer up, his games are much much much more than deciphering lyrics.
How interesting it is that they only gave Song of Lament real latin lyrics! Why do you think this is the case? Also what an intriguing parallel you made between Nier's chaos language and the made up latin Elden Ring developers are creating. You think they are doing this on purpose? Great video as always!
I further explain the matter in my latest video (The Final Battle one), and I think you'll love the glossolalia in the Godfrey's video :D Song of lament is pretty much the only piece for a single voice in the game, seems to be the only remnant of a Latin song in the game as well. The production decided to go for gibberish and I explain why in my last video.
Hi there. I never studied Sanskrit, I know that nirvana means "it blows out" though XD It is as I state in the video. Random latinish Italian syllables, with few rearranged syllables in key parts to sound like Latin :)
I thought the same thing when I found out the official lyrics are just meaningless syllables, but then I noticed this kind of thing is common in video games, like in Nier games' songs;plus I have recently found out why Miyazaki wanted the lyrics to be gibberish, I'll explain the reason in my next video.
Fans often do that, I mean, they make up things that ,sometimes, are better than the official thing. I support fanmade content as long as it doesn't deceive people.
By the way, there was never a true translation by any fan. Fans simply made up texts in English, Spanish etc and then used translation tools to turn them into Latin, the so called fan lyrics. That's why the fan lyrics make so much sense.
@@PierreLucSex You're welcome :) If you are interested in lyrics with meaning, check out some Bloodborne official lyrics videos I published, there's also one of Demon's Souls Remake.
