One thing I absolutely love about these lyrics is that the words feel like prayers. This game looks so good that it single handed makes me want to invest in a PlayStation!

This is an absolutely amazing interpretation. I can definitely see it, in the first part, as if they were mocking him for losing his way, for getting drunk with blood and succumbing to beasthood, while in the second part, they celebrate his holy hunter status, who didn't lose his way, and didn't get drunk, pointing out his restored humanity.

That's great! Could you further explain it? I never played Bloodborne, that church mantra is found in the game?

@@AntoniusTertius Yes. You hear this mantra *nearly immediately* after defeating Ludwig. As soon as you go to the next area, the Research Hall, you start hearing it in the distance, and you can eventually find Yamamura locked up in a cell bashing his head into a wall and repeating it over and over. One more thing I want to say: When it changes to the second phase, the cutscene and the lyrics are both representations of that mantra, and the lyrics and cutscene are synced. The moonlight (greatsword) shines in the dark in the first scene as his guiding light (in the night but not lost), and in the second scene the still-human side of his face is covered in blood, yet determined to hunt the PC as he regains a part of his humanity (covered in blood but not drunk from it). As the Guidance rune you can get says: Ludwig was certain that these playful dancing sprites offered “guidance,” and emptied Ludwig of his fears, at least in the midst of a hunt. All of this represents the central theme of bloodborne, one about the inherit beasthood within us all, and our desire to gain arcane insight into the world to overcome this, and how easy it is to lose yourself in that process. Truly beautiful, and thank you for this resource.

@@AntoniusTertius Hard to say why they called it white. There is a word in Japanese that means “blue-white,” maybe that’s where it comes from? Or the sword was originally gonna be whiter? You’d think they would call it silver if they were referring to the sheathe (ludwig’s holy sword). Idk, your guess is as good as mine lol

@@NightmareLudicolo maybe it refers to him, as in "ludwig, the holy blade" And considering he is quite an old hunter in the timeline it wouldn’t be a stretch to say he was one of the original white-robe church hunters. So the "white robe hunter ludwig, the holy blade" would artistically be called the "white sword". Does this make sense?

Hopefully I can confirm those lyrics in the next months, but I'm not sure.

Im pretty sure its confirmed that the sword is singing the lyrics to ludwig. So your conjecture about the lyrics being sung by the little beings of light really isnt that far off from what the developers and composer intended. Shows just how much story telling is cram packed in this bossfight

Indeed! The audio is from the gameplay, so the creators really crafted a masterpiece here. What a truly gothic experience :D

I haven't published more official lyrics yet precisely because I haven't obtained more lore texts, they are the key to fully understand what the producers wanted the song to mean in secret, as the Latin is oftenly so disjointed.

I don't have the game, so Caio helped me with that amazing footage that displays his skills, that way I could make the video more interesting to watch; without it, I'd have put only the lyrics, translation, commentary and some still pics.

Yeah! Sony music team is to be thanked for that. In Demon's Souls Remake, the arranger (working for Sony) added Latin lyrics to the songs too:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AaOMkGK0WlQ.html It's interesting to notice that Bandai hardly do that when they produce the tracks.

I almost highlighted that part, I do hear feris maledictus catenas and a so and the final NE from lunae, I decided to leave that part without the marks because my ears usually get lost in the middle; but I let each text there to proceed only when they finish singing the phrases shown. I used the new Davinci Resolve to highlight the syllables in red :)

We feel the same pain, as I'm kind of a Latin scholar. I recommend that you watch the Goddrick the grafted lyrics video of mine (the Dark Souls composers affirmed on Twitter the lyrics don't mean anything and are only based on Latin) and also the 2nd half of the Godskin Apostles official lyrics video of mine, as you'll find out there are Italian words there.

Bloodborne songs have Latin lyrics that are mostly grammatically incorrect, check out thr composer's messager on my pinned comment. Observation: Elden Ring's songs were recorded live with a choir and still most of them have lyrics with no meaning at all, so being recorded live with a real choir doesn't mean the lyrics are in some true language and mean something :)

Last time I asked for Gehrman and Lady Maria's official lyrics and texts, but the music producers didn't reply back :(
