interesting little fact, if you go to the second altar of light in Rauh first, the sword will be there, and then you would go to the other place marked that is blocked by the furnace giant to upgrade the sword into the sword of light
I was just gonna say that in the comments but mine says to the dark instead of the light i wonder what makes it change from the darkness to light or vice versa
@@Andrew-et1ft Maybe the time of day? I was in the same situation. Got the stone sword from Rauh, Sword of Light from Unte, the map screen said Early Day at the time.
I got the sheated sword from that catacomb and upgraded it into the sword of darkness in these ruins where the inactive wicker man is. it was night, I'm sure.
The explorer Play talk to every NPC and they kind of make their decision based on how the map is and where they go from to next, what I want to know is how people are already on their second playthrough with this DLC
People are probably just speed running I see someone speed run the dlc in a hour just to say he beat the main bosses to get the DLC ending and all your blessings carry over so you can get OP pretty quickly in the shadow world
IMPORTANT: If you turn your sword dark, you can go back to the Rauh Ancient Ruins altar and turn it back to light! Meaning you can have any sword at any time (tho turning it into dark again is a bit of a hassle lol)
You can also convert the Sword of Darkness into the Sword of light. I found the Stone Sheath sword in the Foglight Catacombs, turned it unto Dark at the Alter of Darkness in Unte, then converted later to Light at the Alter of Light in Rauh.
I want the sword of light, I found the stone sword in Rauh because I thought I had it directly, then I went to the catacomb and I searched for 3 hours for the altar, it gave me only offered the sword of shadow I had to accept, and I returned to Rauh to transform the sword of shadow into a sword of light and there was no interaction, are you sure we can change the sword ?
Yea I was confused by this video because he found the sword in unte and I found it in the catacombs. So I guess it’s backwards, but def better to find it in the catacombs to change it in unte cus needing to go to the catacombs to change it to dark sounds rough. Lol
FYI for those who are confused: the 3 altars where you recieve/use the sword are interchangeable depending on where you picked up the sword. Personally, I got the sword from the altar in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh, but I've heard other ppl got it from the altar in the catacombs. From what I can tell, it seems like the first altar you visit will always have the sword, then the next one you find will be the altar of light, and finally, the dark altar will be the 3rd altar you find.
@avalokiteshvara113 yeah, that's part of why I'm sticking with the sword of light for a while. I found the dark altar while looking for something else, but I dont wanna go into those catacombs again.
You can use the altar where you picked up the sword to get the sword of light if you already have a different stone sword (idk where I got it from). I’m following along and there was no sword for me after throwing the pot into the wicker guy, but the altar was lit up and it gave me the sword of light
I'm pretty sure it's RNG because the altar where I got the stone sword was deactivated (wicker guy altar) and I had to go to the other two to get the sword I wanted.
if u go to the light alter before getting the stone sheathed weapon, u can find another stone sword laying there. so u can have 2 of them edit: i went back for the 2nd spot and couldnt find another sword, so if u find one at either spots the other will disappear xd.
I'm pretty sure only one spawns, it just spawns at whichever altar you loot it from first. Then the other two altars become where you can transform it. But if there are actually two swords, that's pretty big.
@@ShotofDespressohe’s right I got the stone sheathed sword from the light altar,since I didn’t even know you could lit the giant standing in the ruins, so technically it should be another one there,
I got my stone sheathed sword in the fog ruins. I checked that place where you light up the giant and nothing was at that altar but that altar does let you turn it into darkness, i dont think you can get two in first playthrough @danydinu6160
@@simonmurphy6773 Yeah, looks like it's RNG. One of the altars will have the sheathed sword, one will be the light altar, and the other will be the dark altar. The altar where you have to reignite the giant to get to the altar was where I got the sheathed sword and the altar itself was inactive. The other two worked fine I had to decide between the sword of darkness or the sword of light.
Is It possibile to combine the two swords? I mean fromsowtare is notorius to ad special swords who can be combine togeter....i mean Is not the end of the world but maybe
You don’t need to “convert” the sword of light like he says here if you want the sword of dark. Just take the stone sword to the dark altar directly. No need to run to the late game area first.
So i actually found out today because i did it on accident, but you can skip basically the entire crafting part of this quest involving the pots. I went to ruins of unte, and around the back of the building i used torrent to parkour up the wall, it gave me the stone sword and i took it to ruah and got the sword of light. I think imma keep the sword of light though for the boost to holy plus its cool being a disco ball lol
Lmao same, i couldnt figure out how to get in that building and managed to get in by using torrent to spams my way in. I knew it felt like it wasnt the proper way to do it.
I had to turn my sword of light into dark back at the place where you picked up the stone sword because i originally picked it up from the dungeon, but wild haha
You cannot turn it into the sword of darkness. Once you have chosen light, you can no longer change. Go to NG+, get the sword again and ONLY go to the altar of darkness to get it, then you will have both
@@MrCriss287 i skipped the step where he threw the fire pot onto the fire giant to get the stone sword (as i somehow already had one), but then did it anyway and i could turn my sword of light to darkness there
I think I have a bug. The throwing hefty pot doesn't work. I tried it like 10 times, from different locations. Also they are empty now. Anyone has an idea?
There both pretty epic would love it if they did this weapon like the one in DS3 the sword/light greatsword of light and darkness. Where you had to beat the game twice and get both swords from the boss and fuse them to one new sword.
When you obtain one sheathed sword the other alters become the ones you take it to in order to transform it. You pick up the sword at the first alter you find.
Hello! I just tried for curiosity to come back to the Altar or Light with my Darkness Blade and I transformed it back into the Light Blade! :O I guess you can switch whenever you want.
i already completed the fog rift catacombs before i got the stone sheathed sword. i didnt know what this altar was for. i just went back with the sword and the altar is eead. nothing here. so now what do i do? So if i give my sword of light to my buddy can i then take a second stone sheathed sword and get the sword of darkness?
Fun fact: you can skip waking the furnace golem at the ruins of unte if you go to the back of the building you can parkour up there but it may take a couple of trys

@@Slaheirguys, there’s 3 altars. One for the sword (whichever you find first = sword), the other two are where you convert it into light or dark versions.
Strange.. I found the stone sheathed sword in the catacombs, and it became the sword of darkness at Scadu altus. I wonder if there is a check that changes these items if the opposite is picked up first. Can we have a check on this another time?
In the fog rift catacombs, where you change the sword into darkness, if you come here first (like I did) you get the stonesheathed sword there. I got it just last night and i knew there was more with the sword, it being a crap stone slap without anything and item description saying “no one can pull the sword from it’s sheath” or something. Now I need to get to the other altar to charge it up.
Fun fact: The icons for these were even in the files of the main game. They apparently got repurposed into the big stone monument swords we see in the main game, but it's cool to see them make a full comeback in the DLC.
My suggestion is to acquire the base sword at the fog rift catacombs first and then the other two alters will be easy to access for you to switch between light and dark. Wtf wants to keep going to a catacomb to switch :/
I have both swords idk why everyone thinks they have to pick one or the other just get the other sword your second play through no different then remembrances

I woke the fire furnace giant got inside the ruin but the sword sheathe is not there and for some reason I got another sheathe and if I talk to the stone it asks me if I want the dark sword..
Yeah the sword spawns in 3 different altars, depending on which one you find first the other 2 spawns disappear. So you gotta go to the spawns you did not pick up the sword at to turn it into light/darkness.
The path to the sword of light is much simpler than this. Go down the bridge that has the fire golem moving forward until you hit Water and then you're gonna wanna TURN RIGHT and move forward until you see a spirit spring, unlock the spirit spring with Margit shackle, take the spirit spring up and voilà you are there at the hidden bridge😊😊
Interesting. I found the sword at Fog Rift Catacombs. I like how everyone can have a slightly different experience with this quest. Edit: My Dark Shrine was in the Ruins of Unte, and my Light Shrine was in Rauh Ancient Ruins.
Quick question, I found one of the stone sheathed swords in the fog rift catacombs. Does that mean the second one you showed can be also acquired and then turn one into the sword of light and the other into the sword of darkness?
i found that one as well, behind that large stone slab on the upper floor, my guess is that it is possible to use both to get both swords in one new game cycle
strange, but I just went and checked, there seems to be 2 dark altars, since I found the sword behind the slab in the fog catacombs, when i went to the altar behind the furnace giant, there was no sword, but it counted as an altar of darkness and i could just turn the sheathed sword into the darkness one right there.
That altar where you got the sword it gets you turn it to darkness, I already had the sword I found it in a dungeon. Can you find two of them or is it one per playthrough?
Makes 0 sense ? I got the sword somewhere else now i saw u can wake up this dude but behind him there was no sword just a place where i can turn the sword into light ... same spot where your "sword" was
