Have you ever tried the star wars conversion mod for Mount and Blade: warband? It's similar to this in alot of aspects, but trades the ability to explore more of individual planets for the ability to explore more planets.
@@scott2696 also less on individuality, and on a whole warband, yeah great mod, but played to death for a decade, starwind is a lot more fresh, and there's a lot of room for my own modding projects
God, imagine if a AAA dev actually made an open world Star Wars RPG like this. Disney is sitting on an absolute goldmine in gaming and they haven’t realized it yet. Can’t wait to be ultimately disappointed 🎉
You think they haven't realized it yet?? You misunderstand AAA publishers. Them holding back good ideas isn't an accident, they're doing it on purpose! They are intentionally holding gaming back for as long as we will let them get away with
@@kubli365 might have been visceral. I remembered they had an rog planned but cancelled it because they said, "single player games don't make money." Don't believe they actually thought that. It felt like an excuse to put out games that they can monetize more. But regarless they killed Visceral after Dead Space 3 flopped.
Starwind looks really good, it makes me excited for the future. OpenMW doesn't use any Bethesda code, developers can use it to make original games - as long as they don't use any Bethesda assets or scripts.
Starwind relies on too much of Morrowind's base. For future projects, the OpenMW team is working on a "Game Kit" that will have replacement assets for everything Bethesda made, allowing retail games to be made from OpenMW.
@@deafidue5535 RTX remix won't work with OpenMW because it uses OpenGL and not DX8/9. And tbh I have doubts that RTX remix will work with regular Morrowind either, at least modded - it looks like every cell has to be upgraded individually, and that would be an insane amount of work and immediately conflict with any mod that changes any cell.
I would love to see OpenMW become a new GZDoom. GZDoom is a very popular sourceport of the original Doom, and there have been many standalone games made with it (Hedon, Sonic Robo Blast 2, Wolfenstein: Blade of Agony, and so on). Of course these games are not allowed to contain Doom's IWAD files, which store all the Doom-related assets created by id Software. It's going to be very exciting once we get fully fledged titles made in OpenMW.
Many of the OpenMW devs are European and when gunplay was discussed on its forum in regards to OpenMW a few years back, at that time it was clear that they either didn't understand firearms or didn't give a wet sloppy shit about firearms. And after reflecting on this, I've decided that I have no right to expect them to care.
This looks beyond amazing, man! It looks like _Star Wars Galaxies_ mixed with the _Jedi Knight_ series mixed with, well, KotOR, and I'm so thrilled you made this video! Didn't know this existed, but it really looks just like an actual _Star Wars_ game released around the turn of the millennium! Gonna download this ASAP! All it needs now is playable Wookiees and I'm set (though I did spot the Kel Dor, which are my second favourite species, and given all the options the game seems to give ya I think I'll be set either way). Thanks for making this showcase, Zaric!
It really does amaze me how well they were able to capture the feel of KOTOR in the mod. A little more polish and it could honestly feel like a contemporary spinoff.
A star wars game like mass effect where you play as a bounty hunter would be sick with no main quest but just a big ass world where you choose what to do
@@AlyssMa7rin It has the same devs, many of the same voice actors, similar dialogue wheel, and most importantly it does often feel like a single-player rpg even though it wasn't meant to be one. The patches and dlcs changed the game a lot, mostly for the better. If you're looking for an open-world Star Wars experience with new planets to explore a click on the galaxy map away (like in Mass Effect), SWTOR has you covered.
You convinced me. I genuinely wrote this off as one of those half-hearted "fan mods" where someone that's a fan of one thing throws a few elements of it into another game they also like and, sometimes, talks a big talk about plans that never get uploaded (if they're worked on again). Knowing how much work goes into big mods, I've never judged the people involved, only opted not to download this sort of mod. Woof. I was wrong. And for it to work in OpenMW is even better. I'll try it tonight. Thank you.
there's an fps game called squad that now has a super good battlefront modding community where they are doing everything EA didnt with the new one and it's all free after buying squad
I understand morrowind's combat, but sometimes I deliberately do some suboptimal builds. For example, I sometimes do a Breton Knight, for lore purposes. It's something people forget about when it comes to Bretons. The knightly orders scattered all across High Rock suggest that a Breton Knight should be relatively common in the world of TES.
Morrowind isn’t like dark souls where you have to be mindful of your stat selection though….Anyone can be any thing as long as you don’t mind GRINDING out misc skill levels
Best part of this video is that Zaric now pronounces the word "acolytes" properly and not "alco-lytes" as he previously has in his Elder Scrolls Oblivion (I think) videos.
From your description of the mod, and the other one I was reading online, it gives me serious Galaxies vibes. Kind of like if someone remade SWG in the Old Republic era.
VERY nice game , I will take a look for sure. I really like the fact that you point the pre disney era, which is for me the golden era of Star Wars, full of mysteries and a pure lores.
20 years ago I bought KOTOR and Morrowind on the same store visit, and for a while I had a lot of difficulty picking which game to play. Back then, this mod would have made my head spin!
Oh wow, it looks a bit better than when I played it. The version of this I toyed around with had the lightsabers as just colored cylinders with no animation to them.
Sadly there are no more developers outthere who are trustworthy enough to make a good SW RPG. The only one left to make a high quality game is Rockstar, the makers of GTA and Red Ded Redemption. But even the future of this company looks gloom these days. Some key developers left the company. And RDR2 had some serious serious development issues in the first place. That is one reason why we won't get any DLC. In other words, we are doomed...
This is the highest quality of youtube vids. DAng nice... I love morrowind and kotor, they're my two favourite games. Thank you for intoducing this to me
Just wanna saw thankyou for this vid. I ended up having an awesome Lucid dream basically also making me realize how amazing and open Starwind really is, even after seeing this video. What an amazing mod.
i have no clue why you just popped up (wait yes i do Rimmy Downunders Goblins video) but this is AMAZING I never played much of morrowind or oblivion but i did play them. I liked them. I beat Kotor. I am getting this THANKS! Subbed
Oh. I remember the author posting it on the tes3mods subreddit when he first released it. I was really impressed, but life happened and I eventually forgot about it. Installing it now. Hell yeah!
I have no problem with morrowinds in combat dice rolls, in fact i prefer a dice roll system to whats in skyrim, what i don't like is morrowinds combat ai NPC's just stand still and make no attempt to dodge or flank, skyrim isn't much better but at least the archers move from side to side a bit
Personally, I disagree that the perception of Morrowind's combat gameplay has been poisoned by RU-vid. Yes, the memes have only increased it, but as a kid circa 2008 going from Oblivion back to Morrowind I absolutely LOATHED the combat back then. What kept me playing wasn't the frankly jank combat, but the immersive and expansive world. I'm glad to hear that this mod shines at Morrowind's strengths.
@@jordanmunro3352 I believe he meant fallout 3 and oblivion. Personally I liked FO3 better than new Vegas but pretty much everyone online seems to disagree
Morrowind can be perfectly a SW planet. If you change Imperials for Stormtroopers and the name of the races. Spells can be the force or high tech devices. I know is not a good book, but I really like the concept of "Lost Tribe of Sith" for a SW game or TV show.
yknow i'm starting to think putting that dagger in the beginning and telling all players to grab it was the "game design problem", not the rpg-having-hit-chance thing being the problem
Very impressive TC, but they really need to have a chat with the Morrowind modders who create improved mesh bodies. I had almost forgotten how bad vanilla bodies and faces were.
Hi Zaric, theres an amazing mod on DFU now which allows you to convert enemies into allies using a balanced system around the languages skills, with several new ones added, I really think you should try it! its called the languages overhall mod
Thank you for the heavy Morrowind support! I hate when people diss on it's combat system, even when I first played it as a child I didn't let it bother me.
People misunderstand me, I'm not defending the combat of Morrowind, I'm trying to help out people who may be Starwars fans or just people who've never played it before be prepared for it.
Exactly. It's not like Morrowind has the best combat in the world, not even close, but it has purpose. It's like an attempt at realism with rng mechanics I guess based on your stats and equipment of course.
Bro I've been looking for your channel for a long time. I seen you years ago and apparently never subbed. I tried searching for "Elder Scrolls Lore guy in a suit" and variations of that. Lmao
I'm having Star Wars:Galaxies Online flashbacks! At least I don't have to beg Dancers and Medics for buffs while everyone around me spams ads in this game!
I mean if we're talking environments, Morrowind was never an eyesore. Still images of Morrowind scenery is pretty beautiful even by todays standards. Main problem was faces and poor animations... and yea those look like they havent improved in this mod
This can be played on android with "omw nightly" ... with a ps4 controller, or touch controls... haven't checked stability yet, just got it to load and going to install these other mods. Only got it to load with the v1.15 esm because of *edit fixed issue* on android in the omw nighty mods category click and hold to drag the patch below v1.15 esm, apparently this is the load order for mods selected. Runs great so far. 👌 this is a great addition as this and open mw on android opens this mod up to a much larger user base around the world and is relatively easy... just copy and paste the files in the data folder to inside your morrowind data folder and overwrite... and overwrite the morrowind.ini file and.
This mod feels like it was made by someone who doesn't have any clue about Star Wars. They just liked KotOR and decided to just do that but in Morrowind. Luckily it's not hard to fix the glaring lore issues.
Hey Zaric, I just opened a request at OpenMW for incorporating slower leveling settings into the OpenMW Launcher. I know there are leveling mods like Niapets Leveling for Morrowind, however for very old total conversions like Arktwend and Myar Aranath as well as as niche conversion like Starwind, this kind of mods, including Niapets Leveling, do not work. I hope they at least look at my post, lol. Good review for Starwind from you. Also Tamriel Rebuilt released Dominions of Dust, but I wished they first rework properly the Almalexia /Mournhold part, because I love the idea of having Tribunal in the same workspace as Vvardenfell and TR.
@@Palendrome Yes, they will definitely do, but I fear it will take several years for that. The last time Almalexia was worked on was very long ago. But yeah, it will be ready when it is ready, I guess.
God please please let modders make a star wars overhaul mod for Stanfield when I come out ughhhh it will be soo amazing enough to make me cry I just need a group dude to do that when Stanfield comes out just turn it into starwars
