How cruel can anyone be? A sweet, very old lady minding her own business, cooking in her own kitchen. Who was she hurting? How could they even think to break into someone's home? How could they be so cold as to beat her like that? Murder her? I just can't make myself imagine such evil.

In a time not too long ago ,if you were found guilty of murder you were strung up very soon after.Death row with three hots and a cot for upwards of fifteen years was unheard of.
can anyone explain why Marty Elkins and flushingstatic are bringing Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton in on this as if they go to the rescue of every black person case rather wright or wrong, they have to know that them two pick thier battles very carefully, and clear cut murder is not even on thier list

Du D I do too totally. Scripture also tells us to bring up a child in the way of the Lord. I get infuriated at those who invade an elderly persons home (or any home) and attack. I wish that woman had had a gun and had time to use it. How dare they attack an innocent woman in her home. They are probably only crying as they are going to jail.
Du D also if a person isn't brought up to show love and caring to all animals and have empathy this makes them cold and callous. Obviously the mother and family didn't do their job and brought up callous criminals.
Wow! They give a Latino, in some other county, 238 years for being a lookout, for a shooter who killed a black teenager, and this lookout, a party to the commission of a crime also, gets off with a hung jury. Very interesting gross disparity in the application of the law. A retrial and punishment is required.
I don't think executing is the right thing to do. I,m saying this because there was once a great civil rights leader and he said "we can't drive darkness out with darkness it must be with light." Also please note that these are kids, one day they will grow and realize the error of there ways.
At least the mother sounded a hint remorse and accountability. The killers ….jail force labor till they are 50. I use to live on the streets poor and hungry when young and adjusting , hangin with the worse crowds. But never crossed my mind of killing a elder, woman or child under any circumstances…… this YOUNG ADULTS killers are like baby snakes , more dangerous than a bigger ones, due to the lack of control on the amount of venom they injected.
She acted as the lookout and could have stopped it. She heard the old woman screaming. She could have done something. You know, all the players get some prison time.
Got way more than she bargained for, went for theft and her accomplice did way more than planned. He deserves whatever he gets, Dont get me wrong, she deserves to be punished too but not 25 years.
I feel bad for the two sistas.... It shows just how easy it is to get caught up in stuff that you cant get out off.. Im for sure those two girls wasnt raised to be bad girls but being a follower in these streets is deadly... No matter what young sistas keep your heads up and get all the degrees you can get while caged... Once you come home you two could help stop other youths from making the same mistakes
Damn I was arrested with Katila back in 2011 but she was in juvenile hall waiting til she turned 18 to go to prison or whatever she seemed pretty cool but then again you just don't that & expect to get away with it
The sadness of this story is that a life was taken. Senseless! I don't care how old these kids are, if you commit a crime u must be punished for it. These kids had no sympathy for this elderly woman whom was in her own house cooking dinner. These kids got what they deserve. If you have been dealt a childhood that leads you down a wrong path there is help available out here for you. If u have cell phones,ipads,the latest clothes, cable and whatever other amenities life has afforded you,no excuse
