I know this video is 7 years old but there’s one thing that’s always bothered me with it. The why. No one really explains to them why people actually like the music. Sure some people are like “haha anime dance”, but the majority of fans come for the music itself. Despite the music shown in the clips (another grievance I have with this video) the majority of vocaloid songs are incredibly sad and sometimes put to a happy tune anyway. Best example: Senbonzakura, a fun little pop song about the horrors of war. The fact that anyone can create music with this program means that anyone can post anything they feel. It’s especially important in Japan where therapy for mental health problems like depression is looked down upon. People express their pain or their takes on pain. Great example: Tokyo Teddybear. A little kid with depression that’s just being taken for them just being dramatic. No one takes the kid’s pain seriously so they run away and the song is their goodbye note. And this type of stuff would NEVER get published by actual producers. It’s too controversial. Project Diva, the company that makes the concerts, takes those controversial vocaloid songs and makes them hits. That’s why a lot of the fans are here. The raw emotion and inspiration. There’s your why. PS I wish they’d shown some music videos because sometimes they really add to the story of the song especially with people like Hachi and Wowaka (RIP)

7 years later and she was confirmed to sing in Coachella. Unfortunately Coachella was cancelled for Covid, but still the fact that she can make it in one of the largest concert events in the world is truly amazing

I wish that they had been told that real people write the songs, obviously there is real music. Sometimes the creator of the song cannot sing, or maybe the song is pretty personal to them. Sometimes the subject matter can be dark. Or, believe it or not, sometimes the appeal of a vocaloid voice is just there! Not everything can be captured by a "real singer", and vocaloids can go beyond human limitations. Songs that are practically unsingable have been achieved by Vocaloids, and that music as just as valid.

I think that Vocaloids lead to the music being the main focus. There are so many instances in pop culture where the artist gets more attention than the art. That's why so many music artists make their music/ music video controversial or edgey. That's not the case with a Vocaloid because they are not a real living human.

Why would u want them instead of a human being? Well: They never die They never stop making songs They will never get into scandals You can animate them or make them say whatever you want THEY WILL BE HERE FOR ENTERNITYY

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the elders that said they would love to go to a vocaloid concert? Props to them for wanting to experience something out of their comfort zone!

I'd just like to say that Vocaloids actually do take talent to create and sound good. They are created by taking voice sample from *a living person*, and if those voice samples are low quality, the Vocaloid isn't very good, would have hiccups and such. That is probably a reason voicers are actually scouted by the companies, rather than a "make your own" kind of thing, like an Utau is. It also takes talent to input those notes into the program and get a nice sound from it, not to mention actually writing lyrics. It's nearly the same thing as a celebrity singing something that someone else wrote for them.

I'm in love with Vocaloids... It kind of hurt when she said you couldn't connect to them. They're obviously not real, but why does that matter? It's just like when you feel a connection to a character on a show or movie, even a book. They all have their own little special thing and a lot of the songs are meaningful. :) I'm proud to be a fan of something amazing, unique even.

I kinda want to see another video like this, except with some of the more darker songs in vocaloid. (Appetite of a people pleaser, rolling girl, hyperventilation dance, mind brand, coin locker baby, you are a worthless child, etc.) It would be interesting to see their reactions to more heavy topics, especially with most of them saying that vocaloid doesn’t have any emotion to it. I watched this a while ago, and since then have really been getting into anime, vocaloids, and all that other geeky japanese stuff. I decided to rewatch this video today and you do not know how many times I yelled "IT'S NOT A FREAKING CARTOON!!!!" at my monitor. Seriously though. Cartoon characters and anime characters are totally different.

I think that saying that you can't connect to a VOCALOID is not entirely true. The way that they have made VOCALOIDS is so that they have their own personality and their own likes and dislikes. This does give them a more human like aspect. Also, if you do know what they are saying in the song you can see that there is an actual story in the song rather than pop songs today don't always nessicarily have a story. So, in a way you can still connect to a VOCALOID either through its personality or the story it is telling through the song. Because I can tell you a a VOCALOID fan, so of those songs have very deep meaning in them.

Japan and their technology... SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD, JAPAN Sooner or later, if this keeps up every kid will use a hologram instead of a TV.

The main problem is that they couldn't understand the lyrics. They might change their opinion and understand it has no difference between a song sang by a real person and Vocaloid.

At least it's honest. You know exactly what it is when you go to see it. Unlike these "real" pop artists who do the old grid-dance around the stage with twenty other dancers with no band in sight and lip syncing to their album which was produced by running their pathetic voices through an auto tuner. I would definitely go see this, looks like fun.
