Nobody mentioning that there is a huge difference between calling for someone to step down because you don’t like something they did and calling for them to step down because you are worried they cognitively are not up for the task and it’s only a problem that will get worse. They cal both be completely valid reasons for asking to step down but let’s address that it’s very different..in the first instance you can do what they are doing there and argue that his record and presidency has been so good that one debate slip up should not change that…but in the second instance it doesn’t matter if you have literally a perfect track record if you just can’t do the job anymore it is what it is even with the best goodwill in the world

The best thing to do is to put up several candidates in several debates before the convention. Primaries are a time for contest so the public picks the strongest candidate, not for the establishment to shield their weak incumbent from scrutiny. This happened in 2016 and it delivered us Trump, and its likely to do so again in 2024.
