I was able to pick up a Weber Lumin Compact for half the price. I also ordered the accessory that makes it full surface steamer/smoker. I did a full rack of St. Louis Style pork ribs in it this weekend, and they were great! I kept the temp at the lowest setting, and the cooker stayed close to 225 the whole time. It was pretty cool!
I bought the Ninja Woodfire XL last month for my wife and grandkids to cook on the pool deck, and am quite impressed with it ... but I do like your Lumin too
Came across your channel and love these reviews! I live in an apartment and am likely the target audience for these types of grills. One of my biggest concerns is durability. I don’t have space to bring the grill indoors so it would have to live outside, likely with a cover. Reviewers always mention apartment living with these electric grills but I never see anything about durability. What are your thoughts here? I’m thinking the Weber’s enamel would hold up a lot better.
Great review Tom. Anyone who watches you regularly probably knew which would be the last grill standing after this bout. You do a great job laying out the relevant details a buyer would be interested in. I also appreciate the long-term reviews. And, it looks like we might have a Q in the future. I swear you do that on purpose to see who in the class is paying attention.
I have the Ninja but I’m thinking of selling and getting the Lumin. I find that the juices don’t run off very well and the plate gets messy quickly, and the juices fall through on the Webber… wonder if you have any thoughts on this?
Ninja versatility makes it a winner, but the paint on my unit is peeling around the rear vent, 5 or 6 cooks total. I have the extra kit to make my Lumin compact a full surface smoker, and pork back ribs came out more moist and tender, compared to ribs on the ninja.
I've had Ninja products for years. Top quality. Started with the Ninja foodi XL I've had for years and the blenders. Never failed unlike my more expensive kitchen products like my Breville toaster oven, cold press juicer.
