Very nice and clear explanation. Only issue is that certain govt officials don't seem to like Ebikes much. Pending legislation all over the place because some reckless riders with their ultra fast, modded e bikes make it look bad for the vast majority of riders. I for one, get passed by the spandex dudes all the time, I don't read anything about them being targeted by new regulations.

I ride my E-bike on a river trail, and i, too, get passed by the spandex riders all the time. The thing is, there are speed limits posted along the trail, but they don't adhere to them.

Thanks Pedro! Yes, I think we've all felt the wind when cyclists have ridden by, yet the focus is on e-bikes. I just think the point of e-bikes is still misunderstood.

Curious... have you ever seen anyone patrolling that trail?

@@ebikingtoday Just saw a report of mounted police patrolling the Legacy trail near Sarasota, fl due to homeless issues, drug dealers using it to transport their goods around and cars that fail to yield to cyclist like they're supposed to do.

@@pedrofernandez8729 I'd think that situation would deter a lot of cyclists from using that trail.

I'm an avid cyclist and think E-Bikes are revolutionary and great. I just picked up a Class 3 E-Bike and still get a good workout commuting, there are different levels of assists and I just adjust accordingly. An E-Bike can make anyone go further and faster and it increases as your fitness gets better. I combine my commute using an E-Bike, Bus and Train which is cheaper than driving a car.

I could not have said it better!!! Thank you!😊

You still get some level of exercise with the assist turned on, it's just less than a conventional peddle bike. You can ride further, explore more, and conserve your energy with an e-bike. For many of us seniors, it's either use an e-bike or don't go biking.

Range Anxiety can be a factor depending on where people live. As someone who've logged over 10,000 ebike miles I noticed I when I moved out to the country my range went down 30%. How? because country road speed limits are 45 to 55 mph and I ride faster to keep safe. Higher speeds eat up range. Before when I lived in the city, speed limits were 25 - 35 mph so I could ride much further. My recommendation to shoppers is always buy as much battery as you can afford for the very fact that once day they may move to a 'faster' neighborhood lol. 13Ah batteries work in NYC but not sufficient in small town USA where everything is 5 miles away on 45- 55 mph roads.
@ebikingtoday

@billybbob18

I run a 14AH battery on hilly roads and 5 miles only takes 10-15% from the battery. 10 miles of mostly throttle and a bit of pedal assist leaves me over 70% when I'm home. I've had around 50 miles on one battery with pedal assist. When I go far, I carry an extra battery on the rack. As someone with a bad knee, I think that some of these regulators are opening themselves to a massive disability discrimination lawsuit. For me it's 100 miles with the e-bike vs 20 miles on the regular bike before my knee gives up. E-bikes may as well have been designed for people with bad knees. The class system is stupid. The only two restrictions there should be are speed and age. I like what Oregon did with its' e-bike laws. Age limit of 16 and speed limit 28mph. Most of the safety problems are caused by teens on Surrons so that seems appropriate. An all-out ban for everyone is criminal.

Not what people want to hear but calling them a bicycle is ridiculous. They have a motor, they are a motorcycle. No different than a moped, just propelled with a different motor. Don't waste your time flaming me, I won't bother reading them. You have your opinion and I have mine.
@ebikingtoday
@ebikingtoday 4 месяца назад
Just think you have to consider speed. An e-bike doesnt go anywhere near the speed of a motorcycle. Plus, they’re electric, not gas. And most of us don’t want to ride a motorcycle… if we did, we’d buy one.

Good if the bikes are UL approved. Most are not. Will the battery in your e-bike burn your house down?

The problem with e-bikes is that you took something that has a relatively small carbon footprint to one that is enormous due to the Li-ion battery and everything it takes to manufacture it. From mining of raw materials to transportation of the final product and all the steps in between. Then there is the issue of disposal of the batteries.
@ebikingtoday

You're right, the e-bike has definitely evolved from a green product to so much more... with all the good and bad!
@blubaughmr
@blubaughmr 4 месяца назад
Enormous? Minuscule compared to a car. I normally use a traditional bike for commuting, but if I have to go to a meeting that day, I take the ebike, so I don't get sweaty, and then I have a fraction of the carbon footprint of driving.

I had the bike already for years now. Wasn't getting any miles on it for $500. I put a kit on it made it electric and it's sick. It's bad a** I don't see how much exercise oak cause I missed throttle on LOL. No, it works you out no matter what you gotta come back I. No man. I don't feel like I've pounded out a hard a** bike ride. But I'm but I had that same feeling like I got out and did something you know so it's great man. It's great, i'm, i'm pedaling again
